Oops! Scooped by the master!

There are several tweets inviting people to show up at the football stadium to be a part of the TAR Canada filming. So much for security.

I think that there is a post somewhere, production wanted people in the stands at that stadium to cheer......that is why that location is being tweeted.

Yep - I posted it last week. There was a FB post on the Roughriders FB page asking people to come out to the stadium because a "travel adventure show" was being filmed. It was quicky sussed out as being TARC

Drumheller, Alberta is about 70 miles NE of Calgary. It is home of the Royal Tyrell Museum, one of the world's premier paleontological museums. That area is world known for late Cretaceous dinosaurs, such as T. Rex. From that photograph, looks like they are out in the badlands doing some "dinosaur" fossil recovery.....lol

If they are going to hit all of the provinces and territories, like the press says, they should be headed North to Nunavat soon. It will either be Iqualit or Rankin Inlet, since those are the most accessible cities by air. And it is easier to get to Nunavat from Edmonton or Winnipeg. I would not be surprised to see a Charter if/when they fly North.

If they're headed to Winnipeg today, they could fly to Thompson and then take the overnight train to Churchill to hang out with the Polar Bears.

You can't come to Canada without seeing polar bears and igloos right :P

The press release only said "And with potential stops in all 10 provinces and 3 territories, the show will have plenty of places to see and do". We can't assume this means they WILL visit all 13 places. Especially with a season with only 10 episodes.

It's after the fact, but this is a conversation I had on Twitter just now with the girl I had met at Mosaic. Turns out that when she was leaving, one of the teams had stopped to ask her directions to the Pitstop. I thought it would be interesting to see what was actually on the clue the teams received:

Steph: 7m
Hey! Weird question.Curiosity kills the cat.You seen the last 2 check in? _______ came last? So they were eliminated? Was it by much?

Corey:6m
I'm keeping that to myself ;) Lets just say it's an intense finish. Regina traffic and construction didn't fail to deliver on the suspense

Steph: 5m
Hahahaha I gave _______  directions. That's why I'm asking. Bahaha. But I'm glad it was close. Such a cool day!

Corey: 4m
Nice! Did the clue name the island or just say Wascana Lake?

Steph: 3m
Named the island in wascana park

Corey: 3m
Very cool!! I didn't even know that that island had a name. My friend that lives there called it "New Island". hahaha

Steph: 2m
Oh I know! If it didn't say in wascana park woulda been way more confusing. But I figured that's where it was

Corey: 53s
That's so cool! Looking forward to seeing you on TV! We'll know then if what you did changed the outcome!

#sojealous Will there be TARCan 2?

When did they go thru Drumheller? Was that a stopover while on route from Vancouver up to Yellowknife,  doesn't seem like they stopped there on the flight from Vancouver to Regina.

In an interesting development, there was just a 4.8 magnitude earthquake outside of Ottawa (BRAESIDE, ON) - which is very rare.
I felt it in Toronto - they definitely would have felt it on Ottawa where the teams are...

Article on the earthquake.

It will be interesting to see if it makes the show at all.

Hmmm . . . if the tweet that was last posted in the "Live Sightings" thread is to be believed, and teams are on their way to Nunavut, then this is their route:

Fri. May. 27 Quebec, QC to Iqaluit, NU
 Quebec (YQB) to Montreal (YUL)
Air Canada 8701operated by /AIR CANADA EXPRESS - JAZZ
 Economy / Coach Class ( S), Dehavilland Dash 8-300
Depart 6:00am Arrive 6:52am
Duration: 0h 52m

Layover: Montreal (YUL) 0h 53m

 Montreal (YUL) to Ottawa (YOW)
Air Canada 7727operated by /AIR CANADA EXPRESS - JAZZ
 Economy / Coach Class ( S), Dehavilland Dash 8-100
Depart 7:45am Arrive 8:26am
Duration: 0h 41m

Layover: Ottawa (Macdonald-Cartier Intl.) 0h 49m

 Ottawa (YOW) to Iqaluit (YFB)
First Air 860
 Economy / Coach Class ( A), Boeing 737-200
Depart 9:15am Arrive 12:25pm
Duration: 3h 10m

Total trip time: 6h 25m | 2,488 km

Looking at the Wikipedia page of Iqaluit, Nunavut's airport, it looks like Ottawa is the ONLY place (besides Winnipeg seasonally), that has flights to and from Iqaluit in southern Canada. All other flights are from Northern Communities.

I know we've established that Air Canada is the carrier of this race, but would they make an exception for places that can only be visited by flying a tiny airline?

EDIT: Looks like Montreal has a flight to/from Iqaluit as well according to the Wikipedia page, but it isn't showing up in searches for flights.

So, Ottawa is probably the next stop (Saturday?), as it seems they only stayed in the airport on the way North, and there really isn't any other way back.  Too bad, I am downtown today (survived the earthquake :lol3:), but not tomorrow.
