Oh dear, I forget that  :lol3: mind you, this is the same announcer who stated: 'three teams will quit in the first episode'. So should likely take it with a grain of salt :P

(Hopes we avoid another round of defining what is a "leg", since I think we all know what CBS is trying to say.)

But it's grueling for the teams; six flights at one go; sleeping on an airport floor, then sleeping in a tent, then getting all dirty and cold, then sleeping in another airport?

Four days is if you add another technical "day" since they crossed the Intl Date Line flying from Tahiti to New Zealand...

Doesn't matter too much but Roller Derby Moms and Newlyweds check in around the same time in Leg 3:

As would be expected, this is an Ulu Watu shot:  Pura Ulu Watu  (Panoramio)

We have never had a KOR/TBC leg that travels that far I do not think? They have raced non-stop from Bora Bora to Tahiti to Auckland to Christchurch to Australia (connections?) to Bali before ending Leg 4 with an elimination. That is a long arse amount of travel - come on now!

Yes. The cities that have been accumulated this season is crazy. Imagine the toll that it takes on the racers! :(

i think this is in Ubud, but i don't know the exact location. Definitely not at the public/famous temple like Besakih, Uluwatu or Tanah Lot temple.  Each house & village has their own temple, so this little temple must be one of them.

This is at the pit stop

I'm pretty sure  this is Ayung river in Ubud. This river is well known in foreign countries as a very attractive place for rafting. This is obviously one of the detours. looks like they collect black sands and then carry it somewhere.

I think John & Jessica are on their way to the detour.

    Uluwatu beach

Uluwatu beach. Chuck couldn't find the surf shop. I told him where it's at and then he running everywhere with that surfboard lol...

  Monkey forest, Ubud.

Parking lot at monkey forest. I took Joey & Meghan's pic from here

Maybe Bates & Anthony running to the small temple (caps 1)

Wasn't there a report on who left when in the surfboard task?
The pitstop is than within walking distance?

judging from the location, I think the detours are performing Kecak Dance and something that involves monkeys

oh man they better not pick the dance. I learned it a couple times in high school. The eye movements (which is the basic key) took almost a month to master, let alone the dance.

and the RB, pura=temple uluwatu is almost 100 meters up on the sea level. If they have to run back and forth carrying a surfboard from the temple to the beach, pheww!! good luck with that...

maybe that's why this became the longest leg
Please Bring'em back:

I don't agree that the detour related to monkeys. Looks like it's just additional task.

No, temple & the beach are not in the same location. it takes 15 minutes by taxi from the temple to the beach. The roadblock was at Uluwatu beach. And yes, i saw they run back and forth carrying a surfboard. there are many stairs, rocks, & cliffs. It was physically challenging

Nyoman, do you mind pointing out to us where the Pit Stop location is in Uluwatu? I don't think the wooden terrace is on the Google Earth imagery...

(Just draw a circle on it in MS Paint or describe where it is to us!) :)

I think the detour options are:
Collect black sand from river/ Something with a coconut, since Chuck and Wynona appear to find a slip of paper in one

Rolled paper could also be the clue...like in the baguettes before?

Another angle of the temple from the opening sequence. It's on a terrace of some sort. Although most Hindu temples are based on the mythical Mt Meru so this description fits most temples in Bali.......

We've got teams going from the airport to the (mostly male) kecak dancers at Kenanga Hotel, then to the Detour at Ubud Monkey Forest, then... ?... until the Roadblock in Uluwatu and the Pit Stop.

So if the (female) legong dancers are not just stock footage they'd have to fit in somewhere between Ubud and Uluwatu?
