Close Encounters of the TAR Kind?
« on: May 12, 2012, 03:16:06 AM »
We all love the live sightings (what live sightings?!?) and some of you have had some great experiences which you shared in "a room next door".

But have any of you had situations where you happened to be visiting the same city on a day that teams were racing through, but didn't run into them... just to find out later you were there on the same day?

Let's hear them!

Well, since the filming of the next race hasn't started and the past 20 races have all been broadcast, then I don't think they are spoilers.  :)

good thread

I just HAPPENED to be in Singapore the day TARISRAEL2 was filming the finale  :gaah:
I had been watching the season, but I had NO idea that the finale was filmed separately to the rest of the season
Later that afternoon I was looking through posts and I saw the photos
If I had known before I would've jumped onto Singapore's beautiful MRT system and raced my butt off to Marina Bay Sands

SO frustrating  :gaah:  :groan:  :'(

I was in Singapore when they came here for TAR3 and all the other TAR editions except in TAR16 when I was in India. I missed them all. :(

I was two minutes away from the TAR3 finish line - but it was I
on a Sunday morning, IIRC...

Also I wish we had live sightings for TAR10! I would have been all over it!

I was in London Heathrow the day after TAR7 came through.

And I was visiting Hawaii when TAR20 went there but it seems they went off the beaten path so the chances of running into the crew would have been low...

Someday I will run into them!

I am just happy to have played a part in helping someone else accomplish a live sighting in TAR18...

At the start of TAR 17 teams drove from Gloucester Mass. and  left the Smart cars in a parking lot just behind my house. I live next to Logan airport. I was so sad that I was at work and missed the start. I could have got some great photos!

I was in Florida when TAR7 and TAR18 came to Miami but was too far away to go down there. (Of course I didn't know TAR7 was there at the time )
