Will Production Lower the Age to Race?
« on: May 02, 2012, 10:02:59 AM »
Now i think the only reason 21 is the age minimum is because there were tasks with alcohol on them. (s5 russia) now the last time we saw this was speed bum when brian and erika were spared elimination. Also 18 is legally an adult. In america. Any other opinions?

Similarly, the beer drinking task in TAR 16 required both team members to drink and Caite was underage.
Physics alone is not enough.

Those who forget history are sure to repeat it.

Well the only under-21 people on the race (besides the Family Edition, obviously) have been semi-celebrities, so I think they probably have slightly different rules for you if you made a fool of yourself on national televion.
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

According to several racers.....it wasn't real beer but near beer/fake beer. And as already mentioned.........the legal drinking age in many places in the world is not the same as in the US.

With her career, I wouldn't be surprised if Catie Upton hadn't gone to court and aquired her majority long before she reached 21.

Will the age limit ever lower to 18?
Do you think the producers will ever lower the age limit on the application to 18 since some of the racers that appeared in the past races have been under 21 anyway? What's your opinion about that?

Racer has it exactly right. World Race Productions exercises their own judgment to lower the age limit on a case-by-case for any team they particularly want to cast. However, for average people, "Fuhgetaboutit." I doubt that the official age limit will ever b e lowered. However, if you need to be cast on an Amazing Race at a younger age, then become a celebrity!

The only season that I thought you actually needed to be over 21 was when there was Season 16 when a team had to drink a boot of beer.

Caite was only 20 in this season. In Germany, I am pretty sure you need to be 18 to drink.

In the United States, the legal minimum age for alcohol consumption is 21, and I assume since the show is from the United States and airs in the US, they should abide by that. I am pretty sure Brent drank the whole boot.
