:welcome: to RFF Wanna Bee!

They either pulled the TAR21 cast from the same pool as TAR20 or they are having a different kind of season. I kind of doubt another gimmick season this soon after UB though. I think there were plenty of applications for the casting round that ended in December so they can probably find two seasons worth from there.

The start of filming for the season aired in the fall is tricky because they have started in April, May, June and July before.

Why do you say they are pulling the cast for season 21 from the casting pool for season 20, they had application due for "an upcoming season at the end of last year that was due December first but was then pushed back to I think like December 3rd.  Because season 20 was racing at that time it those applications couldn't have been for season 20.  Maybe I am mistaken but it seems to me that they had a normal casting cycle for season 21.

If the crew have sanity they will NOT choose to make a celebrity version. Celeb seasons of TAR didn't work well at all.

They can cast C or D list celebrities, just like the Celebrity Apprentice.
And/Or cast from other reality tv shows. I would die of ecstasy if a pair from RuPaul's Drag Race makes it to TAR. Manila Luzon & Jiggly Caliente  :hrt:

They already cast a few of those every season. In the past some mactor teams have been good (Gallory, Brook/Claire) and some bad. A few is okay but we don't need a whole cast full of them. :help:

I think filming could begin sometime this month.  My reason is that this July the London 2012 Summer Olympics will be happening and around possibly weeks before the opening ceromonies of the games, alot of people especially the athletes will be travelling to London to prepare for the Olympics.   Another thing is that in 2010, Season 17 was filmed in late May; and last year Season 19 was filmed in the middle of the summer.  So this year a May-June start is my guess for the 21st season.

For what it's worth, here's what Phil said about TAR 21 in his recent TV Guide Interview:

Do you have any updates on Season 21?

Keoghan: We start filming in the summer. We're working rapidly to get everything in line. We're excited to be going out again. Some stuff is locked and some stuff is up in the air. Up until the day we leave, we're still finessing. ... There'll be some new places and we're finalizing the cast. We hit a homerun with the cast this season. I think as the show has gone on, we've gotten better teams because more and more people who are fans want to be on the show.

He talks about filming in the summer. That would suggest June or later (technically June 20th to September 22nd), but I wouldn't put a lot of faith it that. I'd advise keeping our eyes open, but keep in mind that it could well be several weeks yet.

World Race Productions is always trying to catch season spoilers like RFF off-guard. The "summer" remark cannot be trusted. I am expecting them to try to get away without our notice sometime in May.

Please no more teams who have unfair advantages over the other teams with their extensive military training or Police training and more teams who are clowns,Country guys or Students getting their PHD's thats what makes a season entertaining and exciting not boring teams or teams that are bullies!!

New Locations?  :colors

I'd think Laos must be high up on that list. Hopefully they don't circumnavigate.

My wishes are this.

New Countries: Bulgaria, Northern Ireland, Wales, Gambia,Gabon, Nepal, Laos, Fiji, Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua and Cuba.

New Cities: Dublin: Belfast, Madrid, Rotherdam, Kathmandu, Edinburgh and Kyoto.

New Landmarks: Machu Picchu, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Rock of Gibraltar, Ernest Hemingway House, Arecibo Observatory (Arecibo), Casino Royal (Monaco), Jakarta (National Monument), Bloukrans Bridge, National Monument in Volgograd.
Love The Amazing Race, The Apprentice and Survivor.

To which I would add, no more teams from Survivor or Big Brother. Having prior experience in front of the cameras on other reality TV shows is surely the most directly unfair advantage of all!

I would anticipate a leg like that in Season 22, because the last Olympic themed task, Sync or Swim in Beijing in S14, occurred after the 2008 Olympics. Season 21 is expected to film before the 2012 Olympics.

In that case, this might be a season where we (FINALLY) see Vancouver, the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, since they tend to visit past Olympic host cities in Olympic years. (Speculation, obviously.)

I totally agree that Canada needs to be revisited, however they had an Olympic themed detour in S5 in Calgary.

True. If they go to Vancouver this season, I don't think they really need to do an Olympic-themed challenge, especially since it would be filmed in the summer, but just to finally be able to see Vancouver would be nice.

I really do want to see some RFF people get on the show.
But how hard would that be to not talk about everything and spoil it?
Depends... you offering to pay the fine they'd get for breaking their contract?

I'm sure RFFers would figure out if a fellow RFFer is on the show. They would have to be offline for over 25 days and not post in the spoiler board until the end of the season, so....

Have any RFF members actually been on the race?
DeafRacer is Luke in S18. :)

There are a bunch of former racers who posted here. Check the racers' corner section. Kaylani is recently plugging here.

A few former racers drop by from time to time, but I don't know if there was anyone who was a member at RFF before they went on the race, though.

I think Luke has said he posted once or twice before he was chosen to be on the race, but it wasn't like he had much of a presence here so his absence wasn't noticed.

I think I'm probably wrong about Luke posting here before he raced. I went back and looked at DeafRacer's earliest posts and he talks about lurking here and how RFF is one of his favorite places on the internet (he has good taste  ), but I don't see any mention of him posting here before he was on the race. If he did, it was under some other name besides DeafRacer.

I was going to remove my earlier post, but y'all were too fast for me.

Based on what TAR crew are putting on their online resumes and the jobs that are being posted in El Segundo, this race WILL be underway by the last weekend in May.  My guess is a 5/26 departure.

Wouldn't production advertise for jobs weeks and weeks before before departure though?! That'd be quite a quick turnaround time, and Phil did say filming would begin in the summer. My best guess would be late June.

Can you give us some links or more specific info about what you are talking about? I think you're on the right track.

what is the vibe about the start?

The Amazing Race 17 started on 25 May.

The Amazing Race 19 started on 18 June.

I think that The Amazing Race 21 will start this weekend or the next one!!!!!!!

If that happens, I'm done. Once again, they'll be trying to get ratings over a recruited ex-reality team.

Russell makes a good villain so I don't mind seeing him over some Brenchel team.
