You've made a false assumption that because the save was used last week, two finalists would go home this week.
Nope. Nada. As The Futon Critic demonstrates on its listing page for American Idol (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/american-idol/listings/) this was originally the week where there would be 7 finalists competing. The show has been ahead since the second week of finalists because of Jermaine's DQ. By using the save last week, this puts the show back on schedule to the end of the season.

I forgot about the effect Jermaine had on the contestants, I was expecting a double elimination as well.  :umn:

I think there should be only one elimination tomorrow night. Ryan mentioned that the finale's on 26 May, so if we count the dates, there should be a Top 6 next week and so on. With Jermaine's elimination, it should all work out that way.

It seems that it'll be a clear-cut elimination this week. Joshua ain't going nowhere, he was FANTASTIC tonight. Plus his bottom three stint last week, he's gonna own the votes. Same thing for Jessica. She wasn't that awesome, but she did a great job and she just got the save. Phillip and Skylar did great. Colton has his votes. That leaves us with Hollie and Elise who did good, but not tremendous enough for the votes to come in.

My guess is that Hollie or Elise leaves. I can't tell who, though. Sighs.

Just a head's up that Ryan tweeted earlier today that the show is putting together a tribute segment in memory of Dick Clark. With 14 performances last night there was barely time for them to even get what little Ryan said at the beginning of last night's show.

2012 is not starting off to be a good year for legends, is it?

I have to change my predictions. I think Colton is vulnerable tonight. He didn't do well with his second song, and the judges didn't like it. It wasn't entertaining for me.

Elisha got the KOD from Randy for her second song. I predict Colton, Elise and either Skylar or Hollie in the bottom 3, I think Colton is a goner. We'll see shortly what America thought.

(I forgot to vote! You can blame me for whoever goes home.)

Saw this on Colton's web site and his "official" AI twitter account. Apparently TOMS had a "Day Without Shoes" a couple of weeks ago (April 10th), and both Colton and Phillip joined in
http://t.co/qMJCZY0m.

And Colton tweeted this pic of Kris Allen and himself: http://t.co/sJewvRtQ

Colton might have been voted off, but once his AI obligations are clear after the tour, I'm sure he will be signed, or he'll fall back on what he was planning to do and use social media; either way, I'm sure he will be heard from again, and not necessarily Christian music. One thing he has now he didn't have in the auditions, contacts, contacts, contacts. And there's no question he can sing and put on a show.

I absolutely agree with you TS. His sister will be able to share in his success, she can sing as well. He's a good kid and the tour will be very good for him.

My Happy side:
YAY!More chances of a female winner!

My Unhappy Side:
Oh god.Colton's voters will give their vote to Joshua and Philip.Looks like Elise or Hollie will be gone next week.

Wow, I didn't expect Colton to go home. He didn't perform that well last night, but I thought that his fanbase would support him anyway. Wow! Even though it's nice to have yet another guy go home, I didn't think that it should have been Colton. I love his music, I download his music week after week. But well, he should be very proud of himself.

Now that Colton's gone, his votes will go to Phillip. I ruled Phillip out for the title for a couple of weeks, but now I think he's back in the running again. He's consistent, he has such immense support (the only person to never be in the bottom three), and he's gonna get Colton's votes. As Jimmy said, he has a high chance of being in the finale. And winning it all.

I thought that Joshua would be gone at the Final 6/7. But now, I think he has a shot at the finale too. He really reminds me of Fantasia and if Fantasia could win her season... But I don't REALLY think that Joshua will win.

Alright... No more surprise votes. I'm pretty sure that Elise/Hollie finally leaves next week... Sadly.

Colton leaving didn't kill me personally, since he wasn't really one of my favorites. Hollie and Elise really have to step it up in order to stay. Thanks for hosting the last few predictions, Alfwin.

I am bumping this thread because I think Colton is kind of successful right now and shows how much leaving at Top 7 doesn't mean anything.

So true!  I really enjoyed Angie's version of his song.

Colton's Never Gone is the song on my playlist now on repeat mode. At least 50 times last night and played over a hundred times already :) :) :)
