Proving you can't judge a book by its cover, listen to an amazing 17 year old singer named Jonathan and his partner Charlotte as they wow the audience. WOW!

I LOVE those moments when you can SEE someone's life change right that moment. And I love he kept his friend.

That's a winner!

Jonathan clearly has an operatic voice and could be singing in Covent Garden, La Scala or the Met in future years. Simon is right that Charlotte does not have the same vocal level. However, he has to judge them on their sound; their sound as a duo is first-class and will take them far in this competition, probably to the finals. Remember that Susan Boyle did not win her season; she only placed second.

This is a nice example of not judging the book by its cover. Simon judged on first appearances but was willing to reconsider when the evidence was overwhelming that he was wrong.

I loved Charlotte & Jonathan! Another favourite of mine is Ryan O'Shaughnessy. Having a cute story like that doesn't hurt either.

Ryan is wonderful, and I admire him for not giving the judges the name of the girl he hoped to impress.

I cannot believe that Ryan or Jonathan and Charlotte were beaten by a DOG!  :groan:

With BGT's magical mutt predicted to earn £10 million... Could YOUR pooch learn to dance like Pudsey?

A balmy evening in South-West London, and I’m trying to convince a handsome chap called Jake to cha-cha-cha.

I’m hoping that as a couple we have the potential to dance in perfect harmony, and to encourage him I’ve brought along his favourite food (cocktail sausages) and put on his favourite CD (Strictly Dance Classics).

But as I shuffle round the dance floor it’s clear pretty quickly that he isn’t keen. The chemistry just isn’t there.

But then perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised: Jake is a dog — a borrowed Blue Merle border collie to be precise — and I am here with my reluctant dance partner in the hope that a little of the stardust of what you might call the Pudsey Effect will rub off on us.

Just in case you’ve been living on Mars for the past couple of months, let me explain that Pudsey is the irrepressible border collie-bichon frise-Chinese crested cross who, along with his 17-year-old owner Ashleigh Butler, has become a national sensation after delighting both audiences and the judges on Britain’s Got Talent.

All three should have careers after performing on Britain's Got Talent.

Here is Ryan O'Shaughnessy's finale performance:

At least they got beaten by a really cute dog?

But I still can't believe Jonathan and Charlotte didn't win!

This is just what happened to Susan Boyle a few years ago, beaten by a group that had no claim to fame. The singing of Jonathan and Charlotte was magnificent. She in particular improved a great deal from what I heard in her first performance. I don't know if telling Simon Cowell to shove it about dropping Charlotte and singing solo had any impact on the competition, but it was the right thing to do.

I don't know if it had any impact on their chances either but it certainly would not have helped Jonathan to drop Charlotte, it would have made him look terrible, so kudos to him! Sometimes I think Simon is an ass.
