Just speculating, but I'd  have to agree with Aussie with regards to 'hitting the hay' referring to sleeping, or perhaps over-sleeping. That was the first impression I got when I read the press release, but anything's possible. :duno:

I can possibly see ONE team oversleeping...but TWO? :duno:

And remember the second detour option should be fairly close to the first, which limits things as well.

True - two teams over-sleeping is highly improbable... a very minor possibility... :(

Hopefully there will be a promo shown which reveals the second Detour! :please:

It wouldn't be the first time.  Remember Peggy and Claire in TAR3 leg 3 or Chad and Stephanie in TAR17 leg 7.

At first I thought the headlamps were for reading clues, but they appear to be searching the grounds for something.

Oh good idea!

So here is our press release again.

First part:
TWO TEAMS SEE HOW THEY STACK UP AFTER HITTING THE HAY, AND RACERS SPONGE UP THE LOCALS

I think they have given us our detours.

And part 3 is phrased differently, which seems to refer to a real hay stacking??  You would not go to sleep (hit the hay) to see how well you stack up....

Two Teams hit the hay to see how well they stack up and Racers break out the sponges for an oily detour

So much for a hay Detour.

Men covered in oil or a car full of apples?! Where do they come up with stuff like this this season?

Well now we know what both detours are I think this is more probable.

My guess is that this is the order of decreasing probability:

1. a haystack task involving real haystacks
2. needle in a haystack
3. "hitting the hay" (sleeping)
4. oversleeping

They are already searching for a clue at the Fire Temple and at a carpet shop. Could there be another RI involving searching hay?

in terms of Distance, I think I figured the Detour Route....

a good line up with slowhatch find of Naftalan Health Centre and Taza/Teze Bazaar....

also indication of the Carpet Shop located at Old Town Baku, where teams pick up the Detour clue...

Spec. so far ....

1. RI : Fly to Azerbaijan, once there, make your way to Atashgah Fire Temple and search the ground for your next clue...

2. RB : OTI-HUET Helicopter Simulation / Underwater Evacuation

3. RI : Make your way to Carpet Shop?, Old Town Baku (Icheri Sherer) - possibly searching clue inside the carpet rolls...

4. DT A : Proceed to Teze Bazaar and find the clue amongst hundreds of apples stack....

5. DT B : Proceed to Naftalan Health Centre and scrub oil to get their next clue....

6. PS : Baku Pier (in front of Baku Carpet Museum)

DT A Location is not confirmed, still spec.

And remember the second detour option should be fairly close to the first, which limits things as well.

But isn't that what happened in TAR 2 in Brazil.....IIRC, one team (the Grannies) overslept by quite a bit, and a second team overslept by a few minutes but made it to the start on time.

The Mongolia sighting is believed to be false. Teams 4 and 5 are the usual decoys in that they do not go to Elimination Station...usually.
