Best Race Route
« on: January 17, 2012, 01:06:03 AM »
So this thread is just to discuss which race had the best route, in terms of the countries that were visited. The two that stand out for me are Season 3 and Season 12.

Season 3 - I loved the concept that they didn't visit ANY countries that they had visited before. That was definitely very enjoyable! Crossing the Mediterranean on the ferries were spectacular! England and Scotland <33333 A flawless route!

Season 12 - Dubrovnik was perhaps the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! I was stunned while watching that leg, and it is one of my all-time favourites. Great legs in Burkina Faso, Lithuania and Italy as well! And the Japan leg of TAR12 was better than any other Japan leg, and the Taiwan leg of TAR12 was a thousand times more interesting than the TAR19 leg there.

So what do you guys think? I will have a poll up shortly!
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

I have to agree with you, Racer. Route in TAR 12 is one of the best routes in my opinion. Ireland, Burkina Faso, Lithuania, Croatia, Italy, India, Japan, Taiwan and Alaska (:hrt:). I was completely surprised when they make a visit to Burkina Faso, the country which I remember because of the capital city (Ougadougou). And we have: "BABY, THERE'S NO MORE MILK!" there! :lol3:
Dubrovnik was also my favorite. That city is obviously beautifuuuuulll.

My other choice is TAR 19. Despite the poor tasks, I have to admit it that TAR 19 has good route. There are four new countries, and three of them were the most-wanted and overdue country to be visited in TAR: Indonesia :hrt:, Denmark :hrt: and Belgium :hrt:. Malawi was also unpredictable choice I think.

It's hard to pick one seasons route.

I like tar au 1's route. It had a good mix of everything and from what i've heard tar au 2's should be better.

Tar 17 was also a great route, once angin it had a good mix of everything and the trip to the korian DMZ was a great touch (loved the looks of the contestants faces) and no LA start  :yess:

Tar 12 was a good route have to agree with you guys there and tar 19 was good but was not used to it's full poetical.

Those are the seasons that jumped to my head 1st but I like other seasons routes as well.

TAR19 did have a good route, but yeah, they definitely did not use it to its fullest potential. Denmark was the most overdue country ever, but that dancing Roadblock just turned the whole leg into a bad one. The Detour was great, though!

I was looking forward to Belgium as well, but after the tasks I saw in Belgium, it gave me a very bad impression of the country, sadly. I had heard about some great places and things to do in Belgium, but they designed some horrible tasks, except the waffles... :duno:

True, I loved that too!

But after a Roadblock and the Legoland, they had an equaliser and put everybody on the trains, and that was something I really didn't enjoy... :groan:

Don't forget the Speedo Task that ruined everything down :lol3: I was extremely glad to see Laurence & Zac were eliminated on the previous leg. Just can't imagine them...

That task was horrible! I can't believe that after 19 seasons, they finally go to Belgium and the best thing they can come up with is a bodybuilding challenge. That was just dreadful... :groan:

Laurence & Zac - omg, that would have been epic!

Personnally, I would say that TAR18's route was the best. OK, there were only one (small) new country but look at the places they went!! Outback <3, japa,n <3 jade drogon mountain, lijiang and stone forest <3, Varanasi <3, Vienna and Salzburg <3, Zermatt and the Matehorn <3 and Rio <3. Awesome landscape :hearts:

TAR18 was great! I wasn't too happy to have 4 legs in China + India again, but those legs were actually very good, and mostly in areas that were never visited before, which I enjoyed!

The European portion of TAR18 was spectacular!!! :hearts:

Season 5 went to every continent. That's really all I need to say about it.

Some international seasons that have pretty good routes are Asia 1 & 2 and Australia (Even though it was more or less Asia Season 2's route). Brazil had a pretty good route despite only being in two countries.

Season 10 by far. Never in a million years would I have thought the race would ever go to Kuwait. There were just so many far-flung locations in that course that I don't think any race will ever top it. (Madagascar - Finland - Ukraine superleg!  :hrt:)

You are forgetting TAR 6. It had some of the most spectacular locations ever!
Ile de Goree in Senegal, the Lalibela churches in Ethiopeia, Budapest, the Berlin Wall and Mount Hua and the Clay Army in China.

TAR 5 and TAR 9 got my votes.

TAR 5 because it was my first season ever and aired when I was ten. My first leg that I vividly remember was the Russia leg with eating caviar <3, blocking shots/drinking shots <3. That leg GOT.ME.HOOKED. And then, the next week, when they went to Egypt? <33333.

As for TAR 9, despite the horrendous...everything (excluding some of the cast like Fran/Barry,, MoJo, Dave/Lori, Wanda/Desiree), the route was really cool. I mean seriously. The four countries I've always wanted to go to in one season <3 (Australia, Japan, Germany, Russia). Greece was a really neat place too and Oman was definitely really neat.
TAR25- Shelley/Nici, Amy/Maya, Kym/Alli, Keith/Whitney
Survivor SJDS: Natalie, Jeremy, Baylor

Definitely a spectacular route! TAR6 was a flawless season, except for the end outcome!

As for the TAR9 route, I loved Sicily and Greece, but I'm not a big fan of it compared to some of the others.

TAR10 was spectacular, but there was too many legs in Asia at the beginning, which is why I would rank it lower than some others.

TAR5 was phenomenal with every continent, and especially Egypt! :hearts:

There are many great routes to choose from, but I'll stick with TAR3 and TAR12, personally!

The last part was sarcasm but Nick/Vicki had a penalty in the Hong Kong leg that put them about six hours behind and were eliminated in Korea.

Ok, the four new countries thing was quite something but, personnally, the locations in those countries werent particularly exciting - with the exception of Panama, Phuket, Ghent and Borobudur.

Seasons 3, 6 and 9.

TAR 3 - I loved Scotland, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Vietnam but overall the entire route was worthwhile.
TAR 6 - Pretty much everything on this season is worthy of a mention, although Berlin less so and the Hawaii final leg is ughh..
TAR 9 - Although I am not a big fan of the season, the locations were one of the redeeming factors.

I would have included TAR 5 had they actually visited more Europe but to just include Russia for only one leg ain't gonna do it...
