"Missions in Action" Alex Boylan's new show!
« on: November 24, 2011, 03:13:54 AM »
Compassion International will be featured in Amazing Race winner, Alex Boylan’s interactive web series, Missions In Action. Alex will travel the globe, showing stories of the people and charities that are making a positive impact on the world today. Alex’s adventures kick-off in a Compassion Child Development Center in the Philippines on November 17, 2011.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for viewers to see, first hand, how we serve children and their families living in extreme poverty around the world,” says Mark Hanlon, Senior Vice President, Compassion, USA. “The conditions in which our beneficiaries live may seem hopeless, but viewers will catch a glimpse of the hope that exists when children are nurtured and developed in the basics of living a future free of poverty.”

Fans can immediately begin following this powerful real-time series at http://www.missionsinaction.tv, http://www.facebook.com/MissionsInAction, and on Twitter @missionstv, where they can track his journey, watch videos and, most importantly, get involved in making a difference too.

Compassion International Child Development Centers in the Philippines and India will be featured along with two stories of former Compassion Leadership Development Program students who overcame poverty through the Compassion program. One of the episodes features a child development center in India that exists in the middle of a red light district and serves the children of sex workers. Compassion has 170,000 beneficiaries in both countries.

“Missions In Action is a dream come true. Since I was a child I have been fortunate to travel the globe witnessing the incredible work of missionaries. To have the chance to showcase these amazing people and organizations making a positive difference on the planet is simply unbelievable. This will be one of the most inspiring series online,” said host Alex Boylan.

At the end of each episode, the audience will be able to interact, take action and directly help the hurting and marginalized. “The most important aspect of this show is the call to action at the end of each episode. This is how everyone can get involved and not only be a part of the series, but help change another person’s life,” followed Alex.

Compassion International is the world’s largest Christian child development organization that permanently releases children from poverty. Founded in 1952, Compassion successfully tackles global poverty one child at a time, serving more than 1 million children in 26 of the world’s poorest countries. Recognizing that poverty is more than a lack of money, Compassion works holistically through local churches to address the individual physical, economic, educational and spiritual needs of children – enabling them to thrive, not just survive. Charity Navigator, America’s largest charity evaluator, has awarded Compassion its highest rating – four stars – for ten consecutive years.
