Clue boxes!
« on: October 02, 2011, 10:11:03 PM »
Where have all our old reliable clue boxes gone this season? I don't think I've even seen one once this season... even on the Speed Bump sign! Are they gone for good or just for now?

I thought the same thing!
The only one i've seen so far in this season is the one at the boat task in Taipei. All the others are gone... but I like that, having the clues delivered not in a generic way.

No, there hasn't been a single normal cluebox this season, and I was wondering if this has something to do with a final task or if it's just a new thing. :duno: But I kind of like it.

I figured that seeing as how the Taiwan spoiler temporarily saw a cluebox at the boat task, that they're not gone for good. I've no idea why they didn't have one for the Speed Bump though.

And also, I can't recall any other time there's been a detour inside the roadblock completion clue or vice versa. Has this ever happened before?

I speculated that because of the driving time from the city to the cave and then back they needed to get straight to the Detour in order to have time. Both Detour tasks relied on there being many people in the streets to contribute. If the tasks had gone on into the late evening it could have gotten more difficult.
I was surprised at the lack of RI clues myself as well.

What's a possibility for a final task based on clue boxes? Usually, if it's memory tasks, they'd feature the objects in question (tasks, items, greeters, etc).

How about putting the different clue boxes in the order they appeared?

Here is the clue box from the Ep 2 RB.

It seems as if we are going back to TAR1 when all the clue boxes were something local, a box, a pouch, a vase!

I reckon you're spot on with that prediction! The final memory task will probably be the show's way of celebrating 10 years, a task dedicated to the pre-cluebox season, and they'll have to match the 'cluebox' with the country outline.

He means to receive a clue finishing the RB that directs the teams immediately to the Detour and not to a intermediate Route info first.

Did you notice that the first route info of leg 2 (Taiwan departing to Indonesia) said "travel to Indonesia..." and the shape of the country appeared along the clue? I don't have the caps for that but I'm sure I sow it a couple of times.

I think THAT is going to be the final memory task.

I HOPE that's the memory task! I loved the task from two seasons ago where they had to identify which country was Ghana on a map of Africa.

It costs money to ship these large and bulky clue boxes around; I find it interesting that there has been absolutely no clue box so far (and it may be like that for the rest of the season). Also, there's probably going to be a memory task relating to all of these culture-themed clue holders (every leg will likely have one).

I really doubt the absence of clue boxes are a cost saving measure. It's something else, and the observation and memory needed for a final task seems the best bet.

I think they are just taking a brief holiday...they'll be back!

Love the creativity this time though, and the "let's make them think" clues given to the racers.

I wonder if the Amazing Race team read all the complaints fan have and decided to act upon all of them? That would be a first. I mean no cluebox (reverting to TAR1's ways), and cryptic clues
Bring on the 21!
