The fall/winter filming usually begins right before or right after Thanksgiving.

From the application:

Quote
When do they film this upcoming season?
Filming dates are roughly mid-November through mid-December, 2011. That means that if you make the show, you will be away over Thanksgiving, but will be home by Christmas.
Physics alone is not enough.

Those who forget history are sure to repeat it.

If that holds true, they could start filming any day now.  :hearts:

Every season before the race starts filming I go through a checklist of my spoiling equipment. Its sort of like preparing for the birth of a child...

So...
Do you have lots of spare batteries and are they charged?
Make sure your camera's memory cards are empty.
Do you know how to use your camera in low light conditions to avoid blurry photos? (Like in an airport.)
Do you know how to post your video to YouTube and embed it in a post here?
Do you know how to post your photos to a photo sharing site and embed?

Do you know the fastest way to get to your airport?
Do you know the layout of the airport? Where would the racers exit when they come off an international flight?
Is there gas in the car? Do you have your snow tires on?

Its going to be a very busy few weeks, what with TAR Aus2 filming now and TAR 20 imminent. And they could be coming to your town.
Happy spoiling!

I'm currently studying in Canberra, Australia. Will be in Sydney the 11th-14th then headed back to Toronto via Vancouver. Unlikely I will see anything but since I am an exchange student my camera is always charged and in my bag.

Filming could begin sometime this Thanksgiving week between the 20th to the 26th.  There were no tweets today (19th) about any sightings of teams/film crews at any airport.  The race would not probally begin filming on the 23rd because its the most busiest travel time of the year and airports and major highways would be packed.  So maybe a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday start this week is my guess.  I just hope the race will travel to the Caribbean again and possibly a new Oceania island nation.  My guesses are North America, Europe, and Asia will be featured as usual with Africa being (50/50) chance along with South America (50/50) too.

So maybe a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday start this week is my guess.

I definitely agree.  I don't expect them to risk traveling Wednesday through Friday with all the other people who will be out and about.

This is a drill! This is just a drill!

:lol3: I was planning to use a variation of that line if I ever found the first sign of the race being under way, but since that isn't likely to ever happen, I'll use it here. OK, back to the original message:

This is almost certainly a false alarm, but it is about that time, so I'll post it. I found this tweet from @daniel_dian:

Oh great!!! I think they've started to shoot for The Amazing Race 20 :D
2 hours ago

He appears to be in Solo, Indonesia. I've asked him to elaborate.

I can't believe this is TAR 20. I don't think we could have missed the start or the airport scene. I doubt they would go back to Indonesia again this soon too. It could be TAR Aussie, which appears to have been in the Philippines yesterday, but even that seems doubtful.

Peach, feel free to delete this if you think it's just clutter.

Update:

He just tweeted this back to me:

just a hunch I think. They should start soon and Phil tweeted that he'll be busy these days

So it is a false alarm.  :groan: I apologize for jumping the gun.

True, for TAR18 they started the Saturday before Thanksgiving. (I don't think it has already begun though)

Hi, New Here!!
I'm from Montreal, so I'll be on the look-out for anything related to the race here
I'm suprise that in 19 seasons, they never started with the city of Québec! They could get there by bus, from New-York or the Northeast, (which would be more private for them) and most people there are only-french speaking, so it would still have the language barriere. + its a beautiful city!
Maybe this season? :)

Welcome to the RFF! I think the race has to start and finish in the States, but that doesn't stop them from visiting Quebec.

Thanks! I know it HAS to start in the US, but I meant that the first leg would be in Quebec city. Like start the leg in N-Y, then take bus that leaves at 3 different time to quebec (like they do with airplanes). N-Y or any major destination in the Northest, like philadelphia, boston, etc
