Hmm, I'll have to rethink that one.

It must be when both are used.

Expedition Impossible broke the Episode 3 Curse to some extent.

I think the biggest spell and the only one spell that existed on all TAR versions is that if a team is eliminated and never to have the chance to be called back to all-stars, the team will never win The Amazing Race.

Shanghai Rush had a special comeback episode to call back an eliminated team (Alice & Richard) into the race, which could be seen as a super-Fast-Forward. This team won in the finale, so the spell you mentioned have been broken.

It must be immune to spells o.O But the Gypsies won like every leg so...

The odd thing is that out of the three teams that have won the most legs in a season on TAR (Nick and Starr, Meghan and Cheyne, Eric and Jeremy) two of them did not win leg 3 and won the race while the other won leg 3 but not the race.

I'm talking about The Amazing Race, not Shanghai Rush.. :res:

I don't see Shanghai Rush as an official TAR version because of the random rules that was in placed in the season.

And not to mention that I despise shows based loosely on TAR and not giving MUCH credit to it.

Don't forget about Colin & Christie and Marc & Rovilson. Six wins and eight wins, each winning leg three.

A bit of a curse in TAR18:

Kisha and Jen won 1 leg and came in 1st
Flight Time and Big Easy won 2 legs and came in 2nd
Gary and Mallory won 3 legs and came in 3rd
Zev and Justin won 4 legs and came in 4th

Here are some fun facts for you all!

The winningest teams that didn't make it to the end are Zev & Justin (S18), Hayden & Aaron (S6) and Derek & Drew (S3) with 4 wins each.

The only teams to win three legs and not finish in the top 4 are Rob & Amber (8th, S11) and Azaria & Hendekea (6th, S12)

No team finishing 5th, 7th or 10th in the first leg has ever won the race, so bad news for Amani & Marcus, Andy & Tommy and Liz & Marie!

In TEN of the eighteen seasons so far, a team that won Leg 8 has finished fourth overall. That's over half the time!

3 teams that won Leg 8 have won the million. 6 teams that came 2nd in leg 8 have won the million.

Of all the winners of Leg 3, only 5 of them have made the final three (and all 5 of them came second).

Teams that finished fifth in Leg 1, 3 or 5 have never won.

Eric & Jeremy (S9) have the most 2nd places (6).

Three teams have finished in the same position 7 times in a race: Nick & Starr (S13, 1sts), Megan & Cheyne (S15, 1sts) and Rob & Kimberley (S10, 3rds).

Rob & Kimberley (S10) hold the record for the most consecutive same place finishes (3rd) with six. Eight teams have had four consecutive same place finishes.

Andrew & Dan (S13) hold the record for most consecutive legs without dropping a place: 9. Their streak went: 8th, 7th, 6th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 4th, 4th, 2nd before finishing in 3rd. Meredith & Gretchen (S7) are second with a streak of 8. They went 7th, 7th, 7th, 7th, 5th, 5th, 4th, 2nd before finishing 4th.

Joe & Bill and Rob & Kimberley share the dubious honour of most consecutive legs without improving: 7. J&B (S3) went 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 4th. R&K (S10) went 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd.

Great stuff Dom! I love it. I still say Azaria & Hendekea should have come back for TAR:UB :(

We'll have to keep an eye on Legs 3 and 8 for sure.

Yes, it's another spell.

And spell comes again: Any team that gets the Express Pass is to be Team No.3 in the finale!

sam and renae tar aus 1 came 1st leg 1 and 2nd last leg (in home city perth)

How about if there are two Fast Forwards in a season, the winner of the second usually wins the Race?

Also when there is only one available FF the user wins the Race.

Is your second spell referring to the leg or the whole race?

Richard & Joey were eliminated

but thay got the u trun spell and a bad goat spell

I hope Andy & Tommy break the curse!

And Rob & Brennan won the first season and the first ever race. Nick & Starr also won the first leg in their season.

When I posted that TAR-Aus wasn't over... Now the curse should be that any team that gets the Express Pass can be in the finale, but never be winners.

Here's another interesting one. There are six main groups of racers: Dating, Married, Siblings, Parent/Child, Friends & Colleagues (though the line between those last two is a little blurry).

According to my calculations, these are the average placings depending on their relationship (the number in brackets is the number of teams):

Siblings (24): 4.68
Dating (41): 5.20
Colleagues (16): 5.24
Parent/Child (22): 5.63
Friends (42): 6.13
Married (30): 6.58

So if you know you're gonna be on the race, you might want to consider holding off the marriage proposal until after!

And even though most colleagues are friends as well, it shows that it pays to know each other in a working environment as well. But competitive siblings perform the best of all!

Good question! But not counting Chad & Stephanie, there have only been 6 Engaged teams on the Race, with an average placing of 4.77, performing better than both Dating & Married!

If a team is my favourite, it won't win the race unless we're talking about an F/F from season 17 onwards.

Here's another:

4 different teams have finished in 8 different positions throughout a race:
Teri & Ian who (S3) finished in positions 1st through 6th and 9th and 10th.
Kelly & Jon (S4) who finished in positions 1st through 8th
Kisha & Jen (S14) who finished in positions 1st through 8th
Nick & Vicki (S17) who finished in positions 2nd through 8th and 10th

In the two all-stars (some you may already know):
- first place teams did not win any other legs
- second place teams were fourth place teams in their original season
- third place teams were sixth place teams in their original season
- only one team in both seasons arrived at the same place of their original season
- a team can't be in the final 3 twice
- four teams in each seasons never went in the final three
- sixth, seventh, & eighth place are hold by final 3 teams

In both All-Stars, the 6th place team was eliminated by a "twist" that came out the season before. Joe & Bill were eliminated because of their intersection (Season 10 twist) with Eric & Danielle, while Jet & Cord were eliminated by a Double U-Turn (Season 17 twist).
