I agree with this, I think its much more likely that this is what the sightings were. Is it possible then that the remaining racers are still at the pit stop? Or will they have begun leg 4 by now?

100% NO. They're spotted out of Jakarta.

Was there any indication as to when exactly this photo was taken? Was it immediately before the post?

I don't know, but Johannesburg makes great sense to me. That means it was an extended pit stop in Jogyakarta, which makes their departure from Jakarta in time for the flight combination to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur (but not Bangkok) for nonstop flights from there. If you want the detailed flights, visit the Transportation thread, post 29.

The two racers going from Bangkok to Phuket were most logically eliminated and running decoy to attract our attention (boy, did they succeed).

At Borobudur?  We have sightings of teams leaving JOG 6/25 Indonesian time using Indonesian Air asia JOG>>Jakarta arr 145 PM. We have airport sightings in Jakarta, with "overheard" asking for Bangkok.

All the Jo-burg spec is based totally on nothing more than some of us wanting to see a TAR 1 LEG 1 redo to celebrate the 10 year TAR anniversary.

There is NO evidence for Jo-burg beyond that that I am aware of.

Africa is nearly a certainty, but Jo-burg was just a dream.

Now is the time for everyone to look hard. Twitter and FB can help, but so can searching blogs, and all the major photo sites. With all of us looking, they will reappear!!

Can I add a reminder that "live" bloggers and photo site users may be posting their stuff a few days behind the actual events. We're getting so used to FB and twitter's instant gratification, we tend to forget that blogs were a mainstay for information just a couple of years ago!

Peach, you said that an extended pit stop was unlikely, yet it has happened. My Johannesburg idea is pure speculation, but it is based on solid logic:
1. It will take teams still in AR19 a combination of 2 flights to get to either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.
2. From there they could go elsewhere in Asia (but I don't expect to see that), r directly to Europe (but I think it is too soon for that). That leaves Africa.
3. Having already flown 2 flight segments, although all of Africa is theoretically possible, I think it is most likely that teams would go to somewhere that is nonstop from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. That would be Johannesburg on MH203 or SQ478 or Cairo on SQ492.
4. MH203 departed at 0100 on Saturday 25June but does not fly on Sunday 26 June, so that is out. The flight to Cairo is on the books in one system, but another that I trust totally says no such flight for 26June. Only SQ478 Singapore dep. Sunday 26June 0200 arriving Monday 0700 is a real possibility.

1. I haven't seen one piece of evidence that would indicate a trip to Africa at this juncture.

2. Neither have I seen any reason to assume that teams were ever intending to reach either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

3. I have seen multiple evidences that teams were on a flight to Bangkok that landed at 20.00 on June 24th

4. I have also read evidence that teams were not on an extended pitstop, as they were seen in the Jogja airport boarding a flight to Jakarta on June 24th.

5. I seriously doubt a visit to Cairo this season for multiple reasons.

We don't know what time teams finished the Borobudur leg, yet we do know that 5 teams (possibly a second group??) were on the flight that arr Jakarta 145PM.

So yes, up to an 18 hour Pitstop is possible...a 24-36 hour one is not.

I have a gut feeling Thailand was a cover up by producers and teams went somewhere sightings would be unlikely.

Mongolia or Kazkahstan  :jam:

Not Singapore again, I believe. It's already 2pm in Singapore. I doubt teams will be racing at night there.
