RED ALERT: Bin Laden dead; reality pre-emptions
« on: May 01, 2011, 10:04:53 PM »
Breaking news tonight will be interrupting airings on the main three networks, likely delaying or cancelling regularly scheduled programs on the west coast. Considering watching The Amazing Race/America's Next Great Restaurant/The Celebrity Apprentice via alternate channels or online.

Well, I saw The Amazing Race, no problem there; but the end of Celebrity Apprentice was preempted.  Then again, I didn't mind much.

The Futon Critic has labeled last night's fast overnight ratings as "unreliable," from what I gather, TAR may have been interrupted or pre-empted on the west coast.
I do know that on my local CBS station, Undercover Boss finished on time on the east coast feed, then I switched to a cable channel to watch  the Borgas, and when I switched back to CBS when that ended 10 minutes before the hour, CBS was reporting sources on the death of bin Laden; that is what leads me to think that the west coast feed was pre-empted.

The Amazing Race never aired last night here in Eastern Oregon and Washington and I would guess it didn't air anywhere on the west coast. At least it hadn't by 9:45 PM. Possibly it could have aired at 10 PM, I didn't check. I figured by then that I would have to watch it online and I plan to later today. I'm pleased that we finally dealt Osama Bin Laden and the preemption was understandable, but the timing of the announcement could have been better as far as I was concerned. Couldn't they have waited until today?

Here in San Diego, TAR aired at 9 pm, Undercover Boss at 10 pm and CSI:Miami (or whatever) was not aired.
