I know; I did find that all the ear references were a waste of time. But since CBS has two weeks to reveal things to us, they must be going to do it slowly.

It's not the famous part of town, where the temples and other buildings come down to the water's edge. You can see a few people walking on the "beach." There's a square something near the water, and something--a small building, or some more water--closer to the hillside.

But she is just speculating; no corroborating evidence  ;)

It looks like a small jetty or a pontoon to me.

GE hates me, but the Google close in maps are strange...what looks like beach can just as easily be a ghat when you see the photos...:duno:

This is going to take our GE masters I think.

I've been looking at Google Earth this evening as well and I'm stumped. But I'm not a Google Earth Master,  :future
merely an apprentice.    Like you say, the beach and ghats are nearly indistinguishable. There are a LOT of photos and panorama shots which are real helpful. There's so many that I can't look at all of them. The whole central portion of Varanasi along the Ganges River looks like it's lined with ghats and stairs going down to the water. I can't find an area with open beach like the screen cap suggests unless you're on the north or south end of Varanasi. My gut feeling is it's probably south of the Godowlia Chowk area about a mile or two in the south end of Varnasi. I can't find the temple in screen cap 1 either and that seems like it should be possible to identify. Even if I do find it, it's not clear that temple is where Jen/Kisha are plastering dung on the wall.

Prior to the previews, I had a suspicion that Zev and Justin would be going next. But them giving Zev such a huge edit in the previews... Now I'm not sure. Because in the previous preview, they focused on Luke, and he and Margie were eliminated. So I'm thinking they won't do the same for back-to-back previews? But of course it's just a guess! Can't wait for the next episode, bummer that it's two weeks later hee.

If we assume its later in the day (which is a pretty big assumption) with the sun setting, the dung task should be on the east side of the Ganges. The beach area around the Ram Nagar fort and the pontoon bridge look likely.

And the fort would make a good pitstop....

Slowhatch sent this along!! :hearts:

Quote
consider Ravidas Mandir, up north by the bridge, for the temple cap.

I looked at a LONG list of temples yesterday, but I only found this for Ravidas Madir:

Is this even the same place ???

Could the person in the blue box be a Racer, a judge, or an innocent bystander?

I'd say judge. They try to keep bystanders away wherever they can, and that location is way too isolated to have members of the public allowed in.

Scratch that, theres a bunch of people sitting up on the ledge.

Judge does seem more plausible, Clutch (??). You can see that the person is of dark skin color, and is definitely not Herb or Nate.

Hmm, whatever happens to the thinking alike?

I think that it should be the judge too. If he/she was a local bystander, shouldn't he/she be on the ledge too? And like any other tasks (FF or Detour), I think there should be someone there to say okay to their 'masterpiece'.

That was my thinking. This person in green does seem to be getting very, VERY close for somebody who just wandered in.

How soon people forget.......we are in India.......we just had an episode in Kolkata......bystanders were all over all the outdoor actiities.....I doubt that Varanasi is any different.

It looks like a full fledged disagreement. I can see what DrRox is saying, look at all the people hanging around and the animals. Although the guy in the rectangle could be a judge as well.

They were... for the activities that had people in shops for a few seconds, and on the streets directing a bus.

There was a distinct lack of bystanders at the painting task, except for the band, and did they just happen to pick that spot to be playing that day? I doubt it.
