There's a lot of hoops for Americans to jump through in order to get a visa for Turkmenistan.

You have to have a verified sponsor, and proof of where you're staying with hotel verification.

I think it can also get denied/revoked pretty easily.

Isn't Cyprus in one of those classic "North vs. South" conflicts?

In the final leg of season 1, why would teams fly into Newark. They were racing in Queens which is close to JFK, so why fly into EWR which is further, also considering that they dapreted from the US from JFK.

Most likely the flight to Newark would arrive quicker than the flight to JFK from Anchorage.

Okay, then what about Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan?

All of these countries are at a 1. Believe it or not, but all the "-Stan" countries that were part of the Soviet Union have grown relatively safe throughout the years. From the time the Soviet Union collapsed to the present day. I hope TAR visits these countries soon, my two picks would be:

Uzbekistan, so TAR has officially visited the two doubly-landlocked countries.
Kyrgyzstan: Underrated country of an underrated region of the world.

There's an actual town in Tajikistan named Bishkent.

Have you read the US DEPT OF STATE Guidelines for each of those? Maybe research before posting statements like that would be a good idea.

TAR Israel just spent two legs in Kyrgyz last season, but a place that's safe for one country's citizens may not be for another.

Just because they have a 1 even for US state department, doesn’t mean they’re viable locations

Ease of entry is another factor (Turkmenistan is notoriously difficult to get travel visas for)

Frequency of flights and air traffic flow is another factor

The “-stans” don’t have many frequent flights outside of Moscow and Istanbul

Geo-political matters may also be a factor

Going to one part of Cyprus might cause a sticky situation with Greece or Turkey

Uzbekistan is prob the most likely, but I also wouldn’t hold my breath for an imminent visit

Still, not the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Actually, I was curious to see if Bishkent was an actual town somewhere. Then when I looked it up, I figured out there was a Bishkent :funny:

Does anyone know what the average time between arriving on the airport on the next destination to the Pit Stop? Also, which leg has the shortest time between the arrival on the next destination's airport to the Pit Stop and which leg has the longest time between the arrival on the airport to the Pit Stop in one leg?

PS: Hours of Operation can be included.

IIRC, there are several possible shortest legs in elapsed time (in each possible instance I can think of, there were two legs in or near the same city and one was the short duration leg (e.g., Delhi, Beijing, Moscow, Shanghai, etc.) In more recent seasons, it would be almost impossible to be certain as check in and departure times have been inconsistently provided on air, if at all.
The longest leg, IIRC, in duration was TAR 9 from Brotas, Brazil to Moscow, Russia, to Munich, Germany. It was an uberleg (which aren't used anymore) with the midpoint in Red Square.

What is the longest distance traveled by teams in one leg ? (including traveling across countries)
IMO it's Leg 7 of TARAus 2, but I might be wrong.

I would think it would be the final leg of TARAus3, where they went from Argentina to Los Angeles to Melbourne

That leg is 22 thousand km long. Even the TAR China leg where they technically flew from Moscow to Guangzhou and then back to Madrid, that only took 17 thousand km.

Which leg is the shortest anyway to complete? I'm pretty sure a Fast Forward was involved there.

TAR 13 Leg 7, most teams finish within an hour
