Tyler & Laura seem more like the ordinary ones, imo. Even their team name is dull (#TeamSoCal) to the point that they are doubtfully recruits, imo.

I think this could apply to some international places ever visited by TAR...

Not including Los Angeles County, how come the final legs (and sometimes starting points) frequently visit certain cities and states (New York; Las Vegas, NV; San Francisco, CA; Dallas, TX; Alaska, and Hawaii), but neglect others (Philadelphia, PA; Houston, TX, Minneapolis, MN, etc.). Once in a while we get a blue moon like Chicago, Atlanta, and Portland, but how come they are barely touched among the majorly visited?

I know budget can determine the location at times, but TAR13's Moscow-Portland, TAR15's Prague-Vegas, and the latest season's Hong Kong-NYC flights make it hard to believe.

Well, IMO I think they weren't recruited to directly be a team, just 2 of the people casting found and suggested to audition. Then ultimately they both ended up making the show and racing together as a team.

However, I have no info whether they actually were recruited or not.

For example, UAE and Oman are neighbo(u)rs and have both been featured on different TAR US seasons, but never together (so far).

We've had Dave & Rachel being told to go back from the finish line to the task that they missed, but I've never seen any team told to wait out a penalty on the finish line. I've seen Hussein & Natasha waiting out a 4-hour penalty on the final leg, but not on the finish line itself.

Linh Chi & Nhan Phuc Vinh arrived in 1st but received time penalties for their taxi driver running red lights, so they stood (angrily) on the finish line and waited for time to run out. Diep Lam Anh and Thu Hien showed up soon after and won the race.
