Yes; and 16-22 is Zev, I believe.
It looks as though the Cowboys catch up to them.

I can't tell...I was thinking Justin. Whoever it is does an incredible mud dive and clearly comes up happy, presumably with the froggie.

Zev seemed pretty perturbed by the mud in the first promos, which would be not uncommon for Aspergers, so I :duno:

This just looks a lot like Zev, the expression, no obvious facial hair. I'm not sure that the diver and he are the same person.

You are right no beard.

And I just realized I didn't ever cap the mud promo, so doing that now so we can nail that location! There is a petrol station there that should help.

Why do you think that the Cowboys caught up with Zev/Justin? The Cowboys got a 79 minute head start at Narita. Zev/Justin were on the delayed flight from Hong Kong. If both teams are there at the same time, I would think that Zev/Justin caught the Cowboys.

I think teams were bunched by an hours of operation, the location of the RB.

Since the intro featured Mt. Fuji, and there is the means of using bullet trains back to Narita for teams to fly out, the possibility of a longer drive or transportation trip away from the Tokyo area for the pit stop makes a lot of sense.

IIRC, that sort of thing was done in previous visits to Japan.  And if the order of tasks is generally headed away from Tokyo, the further out pit stop would make even more sense. The long trip rushing to the pit stop would create the sort of tension and drama TPTB seem to like these days.

You just think or you have evidence? The first group cleared the airport around 715 am and second group about 830 am. If they had to drive or were driven to get cars in downtown Tokyo that is almost 1.5-2 hours. Then drive to RB west of Tokyo about another hour. Surely the RB location was open by 1000 am. They may have some sort of route marker before...but I would think that would be at the car carosel, then directions/instructions to the RB. I just dont see the second group catching the first group.

It does seem to me to be a very long linear leg coming up.....from Narita to the far side of Fuji. As you said, WRP does like legs like this. Gives them lots of footage to create driving drama to the Pit Stop. Sort of like in Iceland in TAR6. Plus lots and lots of opportunities for great HD shots.

Have we discussed these shots?  It looks like Big Easy could be leading a group of people walking. Notice that BE is holding a stick with a light blue flag on it and all the people are wearing matching colored visors, and it looks like he is directing/blocking traffic to get his group across the street.  It reminds me of the task in TAR 15 where teams had to lead a group of people from the tv studio.

It seems as if we may have  some unaccounnted time in the leg, could this be an additional task?

I'm finding a new location match for the frog hunt in the mud:

The location is the town of Madarame.  I  found a nearby Panoramio shot that was an astonishing mountain line match to the Kisha & Jen Running shot.

So I'm pulling out of the Plum Patch

The buildings and tree in the background of the promo shot at the mud patch match what GE has here:

Oh, and the sun's reflection off Zev's back is perfect for a setting sun at about 240 deg azimuth.

I guess it was just spec. I also tend to think there is a route marker involving the car tumbler; why else would they include it on the promo?

I'm not sure that the flight differences end up mattering though because Gary and Mallory were on the first one and Zev and Justin on the second. I was originally saying the cowboys caught up because it looks like G/M and Z/J arrive at that detour option first. I am thinking that Gallory finds the frog quick and the cowboys get there while Z/J are still searching.

Great work, as always Chateau!
