A Route Marker that requires something active to get to it...we have seen lots of these!

I think it was 8 teams on the first plane and 3 teams on the trailing plane.....but the planes got reversed by the emergency stop in Honolulu.

You are right.

Do Zev & Justin lose their bags even before starting the race? If not why the Globetrotter shirts?

PS: Will we then see Flight Time or Big Easy in Duck Whisperer shirts?

IIRC Zev and Justin did an event with the globetrotters team after TAR15, the shirts probably come from there.

Also, the Race crew may have instructed them to wear the shirts to confuse people who just glanced at them.

The 2x2 introductory walk appears to be down 16th Street to me. Chateau may have a better idea, since he went out there.

I would think the episode title goes with the sailing task.

I agree we've seen route markers that required an activity to get the next clue since the beginning. But I've never heard it labeled as an "active route marker" before, but it does make sense, and should probably be used as part of the TAR lingo.

As to the clue on the paper airplanes; my guess is that the phrase is imprinted inside the fold of the top side of the paper planes, and the teams would have to pull down the paper planes to check for the right phrase. Whether they're able to pull the plane wire down and the paper plane stays on the wire if it's not what the teams are looking for, or the incorrect paper planes also get detached, I don't know. But the latter might explain why Chateau found those remnants on his day trip.

If i remember correctly, they have been using it since Season 15....

You can see in a couple of the caps the wire mounted paper airplanes behind Phil at the start line.

That does tell us something about how the start line task works (pull down paper planes on the wires to look (oor pulling them off the wires to look).

So, Phil says go........

Teams run past Phil, to the west to near Whitewater Canyone/Rock Mine Rd, to find correct paper airplane.

Run back to Phil to get clue envelope......

Go find backpack and get in off road vehicle to travel to where rental cars are parked.....

Likely spot for rental car pickup is sand and gravel company, across Whitewater Canyon from start line. Large open area for 11 team cars and associated production vehicles and easy access to I-10. There is a highway overpass and entrance/exit ramps located there.

Drive rental car to Park One near LAX........

Take shuttle bus to Qantas counter in the TomBradley terminal to book flight.....

They don't seem to have their backpacks in the off road shots that I can see so am thinking perhaps that comes first? They also don't seem to be in a hurry then...

Thanks for the location info!! :jumpy:

Can you see in the back of those off road vehicles........they have a very deep box/bed on the back. They may drive them up for the 2x2. I just think they use them to leave the area. Look at all the sand where they start. Not good for cars.

It is hard to see into that box/bed from the front on shots. But it is only my speculation anyway.

Peach, if this is in the wrong place, please move it to where it should be....

In the "Phil in the News" thread, a new poster posted this interview
http://www.kmov.com/great-day-st-louis/Phil-Keoghan-from-The-Amazing-Race--115737494.html?clmob=y

Its a nice TV interview with Phil, but more importantly, they show a clip of the starting line.  Phil is talking over the clip, so it is hard to hear but there may be something there.  I can hear him say, "the last team to finish this challenge will recieve a penalty" (followed by shocked faces) he continues talking, but I cant make out what he says.   Perhaps someone else can.

I was able to hear it to, he does say Will Receive a Penalty.

And since Jet and Cord were last in Australia I am guessing they got a penalty for it.

The last team to complete a challenge will receive a penalty. Before that Phil was saying something about "second flight".. that's all i caught after repeating many times.

And i heard something about an "automatic U-TURN"?? Then they zoomed out to Vyxsin's shocked look! I *think* the penalty is U-TURN??

Did somebody else hear about the U-TURN in the video too?

I heard, "The last team to complete this challenge will receive a penalty that could have a devastating effect on (their standing?) in the race. (The penalty for this?) challenge will receive an automatic U-Turn." (but that last sentence isn't gramatically correct, so the parenthesis are probably not entirely accurate.)
