It appears this will be a no-frills, made on demand version; that would be fine with me if that's the only way to get it. Amazon has recently started this source of DVDs, I got the ESPN 30 on 30 documentary on "The U" which is made the same way (on demand) and the quality is just fine for playback.

Just got this from tvshowsondvd.com:

The Amazing Race 2 - Are '2nd Season' DVDs Finally Getting Fast-Forwarded?

Possible release seems to be in the works, but only from Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program
Posted by David Lambert

In the late part of 2005, CBS and Paramount Home Entertainment released two season sets from the popular reality show, The Amazing Race, on DVD: The 1st Season and also The 7th Season (which had aired earlier that year). Since then, however, there's been no further DVD sets, even though ten more contests have aired since that time. It seemed that the show's TV-DVD route had hit a roadblock!

Now, however, it looks like CBS is going to continue the home video releases, by taking the same detour that Survivor, another popular reality show, has done: an Amazon.com listing shows that The Amazing Race - The 2nd Season may be coming to DVD as a manufacture-on-demand (MOD) product, using Amazon's CreateSpace program to do it. Amazon's entry (see button link below) is very sparse right now, and it is NOT taking pre-orders at the time of this writing.

As a result, we're not able to guarantee anything is for-certain coming, but it likely is since the listing shows a running time (569 minutes), a studio-provided description (quoted just below), and package art which is not loaded by a customer (displayed at the bottom). That's looks pretty good to us! Stay tuned, and we'll keep an eye on this and fill you in once any further updates occur, or if we hear anything from the studio or any other reliable sources. Our thanks to Justin for the heads-up about this!

In the second season of The Amazing Race, eleven teams featuring a cast of twins, a mother & daughter duo, siblings, grandmothers, pastors, and childhood friends are thrown into a global race. The race travels 52,000 miles in 28 days, spanning 5 continents and 8 different countries. The new countries are Brazil, Namibia, Australia and New Zealand. Also, South America and Oceania are visited for the first time in the second installment of the series.

I wish they had one for All-Stars, with Elimination Station, Mat Chats, Interviews and all!  :cmas9

I will be very disappointed if this show does not have extras.

This is one the very few shows where I actually listen to the audio commentaries and watch the other extras.

It says "all regions". If that's true -  it's great, because then we in Europe can see it too.

Yeah I am absolutely there.  Hell would buy every season if available.

Even without extras the only way I watched the majority of this season was through illegal means.  I love the chance to actually get a better copy of it.

First, the Fandom has to show that there is a viable market which is why we had to wait five years plus to get another season released at all.
I personally think CBS erred when it released season 7 rather than just go in order.
And in any event, Belle Book, season 17 is available for download on ITunes along with season 13 to 16. $20 for a season is pretty reasonable I think. And there are ways to hook up your computer to an HDTV so you can see the video.

Well all seasons since 13 or 14 are available to purchase.  They are just in a digital format (either through itunes or amazon).  And the quality isn't bad.

But with seasons 2-6, 8-12 we have had no means of legally owning copies of those seasons.

So for myself even though I really, really liked this last seasons I would rather get all the others, including seasons I was disappointed with, just because they aren't available.

Well mine has finally shipped.  Says it wont be here until the frigging 9th.

So I want people to talk about the video and sound quality if you get this season before I do.  basically to let others who might be waiting to find out if the quality of the episodes are equal to the 1st and 7th season release.

I got mine today, but then I ordered it on the first day of release. (And I went the free saver shipping route.)

The quality seems to be fine; I watched the first episode and a half on my notebook. And I noticed things in the opening credits that I never saw from my VHS/DVD copy that I made of the original broadcast from 2002. I haven't watched the earlier released seasons on this notebook, so I can't compare directly, but it does seem to be equal in quality.

It's hard to believe that we've waited nine years.

I know, I actually shouted in glee when I saw that a season was out.  NOw I would love for the extras, but first and foremost I want the damn show out.  Hell all of them, so I am cautiously optimistic that eventually all will become available.

In fact I prefer this format over digital copies, because I can always make digital copies.

Between this and finally high def TAR I feel like it's Christmas.

At least the sales rankings on Amazon.com have been pretty good. One of those things where a promo or two on-air once TAR:UB starts would really boost sales, I would think.

Well mine finally came in (snow storm delayed mine), and I want more.

I am watching episode three and really, really strong episode.

And I can't believe they didn't use, "If you go there, they will kill you" as the title.  Or if that was too scarry.

We have, "I feel like I am doing the Irish Riverdance on crack".

Still hate Will, so at least some things haven't changed.  But I had forgotten how much I really liked Mary & Peach.

Great to hear that Amazon is making these classics available (on-demand).  Couple of things to note however, these are "burned" on DVD-R disks, so make sure older DVD players can handle them.  Secondly, even though they are "region free", they are still encoded for the NTSC TV standard. (PAL regions take note).

I finally get to see season 2, which I never saw when originally aired.
