I dont know if this has been discussed yet, but during the intro yesterday Margie and Luke were shown doing a task which looks it was clearly in India. This suggests they survive untill one of the two India legs.

Nope, this one from the intro is in Sydney ^^

They are wearing the same thing in both pics.

I was just wondering, what makes this look like India?  :duno:

PLT: I don't know. All I know is that Margie and Luke are wearing the same clothes in both pics. The first I capped out of the intro; the second one I capped out of episode one, when they were running out of the airport.

:js: That's true... Actually, don't all the intros have the racers in Sydney?

I'll be a little more specific here since in this thread we can reference spoilers.  In watching the totally revamped intro last night (I did replay it a couple of times afterward), it seemed to me that almost every clip (or just about all of them) are new; that is to say, even the clips of most of the world landmarks used before seem to be new material and not recycled from the SD-era intro. One for instance, is the Christ The Redeemer statute in Rio.

I recognize that some of the images were recycled (such as the one castle shot), but everything's been re-edited, and I got the impression that all of the Racer action clips are new.  I am sad to see the retirement of that opening CGI passenger jet, I've always thought that was a cool image, and I hate to see it gone.

I think production really botched it with the Automatic U-Turn.

They should have had either no Automatic U-Turn or Automatic U-Turns for the last two teams because, as many of us know, every team that has ever had to perform a non-Double U-Turn has been eliminated (in the US version).

The only time that a U-Turned team avoided elimination was when two teams had to do the Double U-Turn, and, because there wasn't a double elimination on that leg, one of those two teams was going to avoid elimination.

In my opinion I have a gut feeling that is not a racer but was part of a challenge. Looks like its in China.

You mean the bike pics?

If Luke is in that boat, I couldnt tell. Do you really think Luke is going to do some kind of music task? The tamborine beater looks 100% South Asian to me.

Yes I do, like when they show Phil saying what the tams have to do they usually have a local doing something, thats what it looks like.

You can see several other locations TAR:UB visits in the intro, such as Mount Fuji, Broken Hill, Jade Rooster Archway(?), etc.

What boat?? It could be a detour. Luke isnt a guy to shy away from any task.

Just before Kisha/Jenn........in that promo, are a bunch of people in a boat with a lot of seaguls. Right after Kisha/Jenn is the pic of the guy with the tamborine. Then the old wise man. When I posted, I didnt know which of these three pics from Inida you were talking about. IF that is Luke dressed up, beating on a tamborine, then he sure got a tan fast.

I don't think that is Luke in any of the pics...and it would be rare for the Intro caps to nclude racers doing a task, they are more location oriented. More boats and gulls in the Intro caps.

we know the spiritual ritual involves freezing water.

Quote
Kanchu Misogi is a traditional midwinter festival of purification that is still practiced in Japan today. The event includes a ritual called mizugori, where participants are poured with ice cold water for purification and good fortune

http://www.dailyonigiri.com/category/culture-tradition/

I don't know if you have seen this article:
http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/1/26/231051/907/travel/Cowboys,+B-Ballers+and+Former+NFL+Cheerleaders+Return+for+%27Amazing+Race%27+All+Stars

But it says they have to swim in the water, who knows if they know what they are talking about or not...

Well this is encouraging:
Quote
The diversity of water rituals in Japan is phenomenal. The ways in which water is used, and the ends sought, are numerous. One can find somewhere in Japan a water ritual to provide the relief or the assurance desired for almost any event in one's life. An easy birth, a healthy baby, recovery from illness, success in an examination or in a new job, a propitious outcome to moving house, more money, good eyesight, longevity, peace, wisdom and revelation -- each can be had by the proper use of water.
Perhaps they will go with the "more money" version! :funny:

Teppozu Shrine is mentioned several times in conjunction with water rituals and Mt. Fuji.

Just some thoughts on the comments about racers doing an animal task in China........in China Rush, they had to herd those cranes in Kunming.
