If you are going to count Australia as only one leg.....then the Miami final should be the last leg at 11....not 12

I need to get a calendar and start counting up Sundays....

If I'm reading this thread correctly, I think we're being given hints that there is a leg somewhere between China and India, as in:
1 Australia
2 Japan
3 China
4 China
5
6 India
7 India
8 Austria
9 Liechtenstein/Switzerland
10
11 Brazil
12 Miami

There are 12 Sundays between Feb 20th and May 8, 2110.....Mothers Day....lately the day of the TAR Finale.
But CBS always pre-empts one of those Sundays for that country music awards show....so that leaves up 11 Sundays to watch TAR.....if the Australia legs are done as a 2 hour premier.....then there is only going to be 10 more legs/episodes left.

On the other hand, the TAR16 Mother's Day finale took in abysmal ratings. I would think CBS would want to avoid something like this again and have the finale air the week after Mother's Day? :duno:

Here's my take. Even if the Kolkatta leg is on the 1st, a leg in Laos is REALLY pushing it. We could very well have a two-hour premier and two-hour finale.

Sydney, Australia
Broken Hill, Australia
Tokyo, Japan
Lijiang, China
Kunming, China
Kolkata, India
Leg 7 (assuming India, but I still doubt they'd fly to another destination when they could've taken the train down the coast)
Vienna, Austria
Liechtenstein
Zurich, Switzerland (looks to me Kisha/Jen may be running decoy tho)
Rio de Janiero, Brazil
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Miami, Florida

I was thinking about a 2 hour finale too.......as far as Mother's Day ratings.....the last two spring finales have been on Mothers Day. If you move it to May 15....then Survivor's finale gets moved too.....and it is a 3 hour show.

I will let mswoden or theschnauzers address the issue of the Mother's Day ratings.......they are the experts on that.

Australia is 2 episodes I believe, and there should be 12 legs.

Welcome back Cocoa.

We have 11 teams and there will be 8 eliminations and the final. There are usually 3 NEL which makes 12 episodes. A TBC counts as an NEL as far as I know so the first episode would count as an NEL. There will then be remaining the final, 8 eliminations, and 2 more NEL's. I see that as being 12 total episodes.
The only way to make 13 is another NEL, have there ever been 4?

Yes there was in TAR 11, there were 8 EL 4 NEL and the final but only 12 episodes b/c they aired 2 on the same night.

Pretty much every race pre-TAR 11 has had 4 NELs. It looks likely that there may be a 13th leg thrown in here (I count TBCs as 2 for consistency); I mean, why else would the producers film a 24-day race?

That's b/c they stopped doing TBC's as much. (TAR6 thru TAR10 all had TBC's) Still, there are always 12 episodes.

Just remember that with a TBC, there can be more episodes than legs.

Thus, if I'm reading Peach right, it's 13 episodes, 12 legs.

There is no certainty yet that the CMA thing is going to pre-empt TAR this spring. After all they used to have the Victoria's Secret thingy pre-empting TAR, and they they moved both TAR and that to different nights.

As to Sundays in May, there are five Sundays in 2011, right? The last Sunday is Memorial Day weekend, so May ratings sweep period will end before then. CBS will be wanting to give TAR, Undercover Boss and Survivor separate finale Sundays, if possible. Depending on whether CBS has a special that they plan to air on the 22nd, the TAR finale would be either the 8th or the 15th. The NCAA tournament format is changing this year (2011) and I believe the deal with CBS has been modified because the early rounds of the NCAA tournament will be working a little differently.
The only way at the moment to get a better guess is to pin down the number of episodes (I agree that given the format since TAR 14 it's 12 legs) we just have to see whether the TBC leg boosts the episode order up to 13.
Given how CBS promoted the heck out of Survivor's HD switch, I would think they're going to be using both the format ("Unfinished Business") and the conversion to HD for promotion the entire season.  And I'm betting we'll be seeing some glorious looking locales in every episode.

Tweet response:

only saw jet/cord @ the Delhi airport in the intl terminal's food court around midnight 12/5
about 19 hours ago via web

This helps explain what they were doing on the 4th. Probably another India leg and then flying out from Delhi. Since they were standing around in the food court it was probably a while until their flight left.
I would go with OS 34 et al (Austrian Air, Air India, and Lufthansa codeshare it) as it leaves at 2:32am

Also Vienna is 4 1/2 hours behind so it gives plenty of time for FT/BE to be spotted in Vienna.

Here is a very helpful map of the Delhi airport that shows where they were. The food court is on the second level and there is internet access there if the teams needed that.

From the live sightings thread.......

From this blog:
http://swamplandinflorida.blogspot.com/2010/12/can-blog-on-iphone-there-ap-for-that.html

Apparently 7 mile bridge was closed on Monday for filming the Amazing Race.
Not sure - but I think its a 7 mile bridge just outside of Marathon Fl that has been replaced by a new bridge.
The old bridge is used for walking now.

Marathon and the old 7 mile bridge is a 2.5 hour drive from Miami International and distance of about 115 miles. From there it is another ~50 miles to Key West and about a one hour drive.

A couple of potential finish line locations, if TPTB hold to form.......

John James Auduban estate...
http://www.audubonhouse.com/aboutah.htm

Ernst Hemingway Home and Museum
http://www.hemingwayhome.com/HTML/our_cats.htm

Key West is also home to Harry Truman's Little White House on the old US Navy base.

It's a catch-all phrase since production (except for the Miami team shoots) is on the move. Translation="and maybe various other places."

Here's a site that gives some guidelines for filming in the Keys. http://www.filmkeys.com/permit.cfm

It looks like they would need to contact Monroe County, FLDOT, the sheriff, and the Florida Keys Film Commission. Surely all that would leave a paper trail.

I have to admit that I tend to doubt this sighting b/c it is so far away....

Far away from what?

Miami airport and the county we know they have a permit for. Also Marine Stadium Marina on Key Biscayne Virginia Key which is specifically listed with the permit. Although, that location may be a smoke screen.
