But, other than the connection through Hong Kong, there is nothing that is scheduled to get there faster.

Now CX524 is showing that it was delayed 50min and will not land until 6:50am. That puts them an hour behind the others.

IF IT IS TRUE THAT THEY WERE AT THE SHRINE HERE IS THE INFO ON IT......
Main hall (top of stairs) and dance stage (front)
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu is Kamakura's most important shrine. It was founded by Minamoto Yoriyoshi in 1063, and enlarged and moved to its current site in 1180 by Minamoto Yoritomo, the founder and first shogun of the Kamakura government.

The shrine is dedicated to Hachiman, the patron god of the Minamoto family and of the samurai in general. The deified spirits of the ancient Emperor Ojin who has been identified with Hachiman, Hime-gami and Empress Jingu are enshrined at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.

The shrine is reached via a long, wide approach that leads from Kamakura's waterfront through the entire city center, with multiple torii gates along the way. The main hall (Hongu or Jogu) stands on a terrace at the top of a wide stairway. The main hall includes a small shrine museum, which displays various treasures owned by the shrine, such as swords, masks and documents.

As listed on the live sightings thread, here is the Google Maps street view link for the "torii" (entry way for Shinto shrines) at the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu.

BTW, the Konnou Hachiman-gu they visited in TAR15 - NO ONE on the mixi.jp TAR fan community knew about it, despite its vicinity to one of the most popular areas in Tokyo.  It's only 300m east of the Shibuya station, but it's tucked away behind these office buildings by Roppongi-dori.

They spotted last night at airport to go to Kunming train station taking train to Lijiang. The guy who helped Gary and Mallory saw their clue, they're going to Lijiang ancient city.

Thanks for the clarification, I look forward to what our China team can produce!

Here is a picture of the building behind Jet & Cord.  I can't find the name of the building but it is to the northwest of the Kunming Airport, which must be where this picture was taken.

Haha, don't trust Chinese clocks! This was taken sometime closer to 7.30pm when our comrade exited Kunming Airport after bumping into Gary/Mallory! He left Kunming by train at 8.50pm.

It looks like the building says "best" ontop of it,but I can't find a "best hotel" or anything of the sort in Kunming.

Scheduled to arrive at 5.13am Beijing Time (4.13pm EST), which is right about now. It's not an express train, though, so there could be substantial delays. Nothing as bad as Amtrak though.

Here is some info about their next destination, Dounan Flower Market:

DouNan Flower Market is located near Chengong, southeast of Kunming. Dou Nan Flower Market is the "heart" of the nation's flowers’ markets as well as one of the biggest flower trade markets all over Asia. Its flower planting base occupies 4 square kilometers, and sells the flowers of more than 50 species and 200 varieties. The volume of business per day reaches 2.5 million RMB.
More than half of China's flowers come from Yunnan, with 80% of those passing through Dounan's market of 5,000 individual flower shops. More than 3 billion stems a year of over 600 different varieties are sold in the city.

There is no FB or Twitter in China. But still worth looking and esp searching blogs for stray encounters with Americans or Europeans!
