There is no Broken Hill train departure on Wed, no more flights out of there. Those charters didn't touch down til 9am and if they had a 12hr PS from then they would still miss the train.

Only option I see is a fudged PS that gets them back to Sydney during the 12 hours. If it arrives there by 10am they would have about 6hrs before being released.

It looks like this is what they are doing. It was really their only choice.

So that train departed at 6pm Sydney time right? Chelsea said they waited for it for 5hrs, this means the leg only lasted from about 8am to 1pm. Also means another non-12hr PS. Correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm confused ???

As far as Tokyo, for no apparent reason Sydney does not fly there on the 24th that I can see. However, teams could probably just make China Air CA176 or New Zealand Air NZ4906, both to Beijing, both departing at 11:30am. Guaranteed that there are a thousand flights from there to Tokyo.
If they miss that there are no other flights to China for hours but several to Singapore at 12:40pm.

Other possible destinations from Sydney in that time frame include: Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong, HoChiMinh, Manila, and Singapore.

There are direct flights to Tokyo from Sydney.

There are direct flights to Tokyo from Sydney.

For the 24th the only nonstop is Qantas, flight 21, that does not depart until 10pm. The best choice is still Air China to Beijing.

We will be able to tell which flight they take based on the tweets that pepper the day after the train rolls in.   :jam:

Or by this possibility:

They fly out from Sydney to Tokyo on Qantas Flight 21, Sydney to Narita international airport, tomorrow night (24 Nov).

Cant reveal source, can confirm it is reliable.

I did a quick search on travelocity and got 104 different flight combinations.......most are worthless......but that shows what there is out there. It depends on what happens when they get back.

I agree Peach.

That's the one I was talking about earlier, that seems to be a long time for them to wait though. That one doesn't depart for 12 hours after their train arrives. Maybe they'll have the PS then.

If this is true they will not be on the ground until almost 7am Thursday, Tokyo time. That's 5pm Wed on American central time.
We'll have plenty of time for some  :zz:

Thank goodness.

Japan? sound good , but I feel its a bit overused from season 14, maybe Sapporo woild have been better with snow tasks.

I don't mind Japan.  Nagoya, Kyoto, Okinawa, Nagano, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and Sapporo have not been visited yet.

There's still chance they could visit Indonesia this season.

Pretty sure they are going to Japan tonight on the QF 21 leaving Sydney at around 10pm.

Interesting story for the planes leaving LA.  There were two scheduled flights on which they were allowed to travel, say the early plane and the late plane.

The early plane left on time (or close to time), but midflight there was an incident (not plane related, nor Amazing Race related, it was another unrelated passanger). And it had to land in Honolulu.

The late plane ended up getting in to Sydney first.  Most teams were on the early plane, but that was delayed by 2 hours. They were supposed to get in 1.5 hours before the later plane, but circumstances prevailed.  The later plane arrived about 30 minutes earlier.

That scenario has happened before in TAR...........TAR 5 and TAR 6 off the top of my head. In both seasons, later arriving planes arrived first.

Yes that has happened before, as well as the planned scheduling where the first flight to depart was intended to be the later arriving flight.  It was at that point smart teams learned to check the scheduled arrival times of both flights before accepting a producer set-up booking. Then the producers started having task-determinate distribution of tickets to prevent teams from using that knowledge of first arriving flights.

This is from the daily newspaper in Broken Hill, the Barrier Daily Truth. Unfortunately you have to subscribe and pay for full article.

Looks like the pitstop was being setup at the mine?

http://www.bdtruth.com.au/index.php?stub&id=1271

"Quite a few locals were excited yesterday at the news that contestants and crew from the US TV reality show 'The Amazing Race' were in the city as part of their Australian leg of the show.

The production crew and 11 American couples arrived in the city on two Rex chartered planes yesterday morning from Sydney, and were picked up by several four-wheeldrives.

The show has couples race across the globe, doing crazy things at each destination. Rotary and St Johns Ambulance were at the old Junction Mine yesterday with the crew and contestants while they filmed a sequence for the show."

Glad to see that some of the teams were able to find better flights than QF21. There were plenty of other options.

Do we know who's on what?
