I don't know if this Tweet is relevant or if it has been mentioned but it is the only one that I found with a couple of searches:

@leighgermy re: people watching at the miami airport yesterday, did u notice 8 teams of two racing? looking 4 info on amazing race 18 4:45 PM Dec 15th via web in reply to leighgermy
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

Well since you did not post the orginal sender of the tweet......I can only surmise that it was from someone from here asking if she saw the teams in the airport.

From her posting history....it appears she is on a cruise this week. If I was in MIA people watching, I would be one floor up in the main concourse...not on the lower level where people exit from Immigration/Customs.....its pretty barren and isolated there.

:O found this!! Hope it hasn't been posted! Its from Wednesday.

"Just met Cord and Jet from Amazing Race in MIA Airport awesome guys. Be jealous"

Considering all the season 18 teams were there, it sounds like they aren't in the final 3, or they wouldn't be talking to people IMO.

Seems like it.Sad,I wanted them to win :( Maybe someone can contact them and ask whether they
seemed like they were racing?Maybe they spoke to the cowboys in a queue or something?

EDIT:I can't find that tweet.

That totally depends.  Since the teams were on an international flight into Miami, Jet-Cord might have been waiting for their camera crew and equipment to clear customs.  Or TPTB were holding all the teams until all camera crews cleared.

I saw the original post...it was at 1230 and just said people watching in the Miami airport...so doubtful that it was anything as our guys were much earlier.

Adding in some more info about our Finale Leg.

Thanks to the great work of florida, teams were spotted in Miami!

TAR 18 teams arrived in MIA from Sao Paulo 12-13-10 on flight AA930 at 9:36 AM  (Landed 121 min late)

9 of the 11 teams were seen briefly at the airport.

Production was present.

Clues appeared to be handed to teams who then dispersed within the airport area. (decoy run?)

All teams were eventually seen heading to the taxis....

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1011

1-cameraguy
2-Clue giver
3-Jaime with decoy clue
4-Kynt and Vyxsin running
5-Vyxsin (cool double exposure )
6-Amanda
7-Kris
8-Kisha and Jen, and FT/BE waiting for a taxi
9-Jen entering taxi
10-Ron and Christina
11-Jet

This reflects weeks of valiant effort on the part of the team, so many thanks to Slowhatch, Neobie, Chateau, MamaT, caper and especially florida!!

Slowhatch was the first to find the Miami area film permit way back on 11/24. Many of you all spotted it shortly before the race...thanks to all of you who helped keep that confidential until we were sure the racers were safely through the location!

That permit gave us Miami as a possible location, and was later confirmed secondarily.

Quote
Countywide, Marine Stadium Marina.

So here is the broad outline of what we know now:

The first stop after the Miami airport was the marine stadium marina location, there only about 15-20minutes.

SPEC is that this was a route info clue only.

They then continued south to Key Largo, which was the site of the next task:

 a RoadBlock.

Following that, they proceded south through the Keys to Big Pine Key for the next task.

walkingpneumonia's blog find re the Seven Mile Bridge closure would then follow nicely from there.

I am opening a thread for the finale location discussion...please take any further spec and discussion there. Live sightings/tweets/spoiler sources/blogs etc should still go here. :ty3:

Were they all taken around the same time, or were some of those teams from the Sao Paulo flight?

Yes, they were all taken at the same time and off the Sao Paulo flight that was delayed the earliest.

To finally answer the post about the "pilot illness" (it was either in this thread or the other one), I unknowingly sat close to people associated with production and when a girl came over to introduce herself, my ears perked up because the customs area was pretty much empty. So I got out my crossword puzzle book and pretended to be busy while eavesdropping which is when one guy was mentioning a pilot being sick among other things.....so the super delayed flight was what "pilot illness" was referring to.

The flight the teams arrived on AA930 was delayed about 2 hours. The "pilot illness" flight was AA990 and about a 10 hour delay. Seems like they had to wait for a pilot from one of the previous days flights have his required rest period, to replace the ill pilot.

No...that info was clarified to say 9 of the 11 teams in the post above..

But yes, all off the Sao Paulo flight as described.
