I would lean towards the century egg being the problem here.

Look at this description:

Century egg is a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by preserving eggs in a mixture of clay, salt, lime, and rice hulls for several weeks to several months.
Through the process, the yolk becomes a dark green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulphur and ammonia, while the white becomes a dark brown, transparent jelly with little flavor.

 :eww :barf

Erm.... I do eat century egg congee once in a while, so....   but that's the only way I'll dare to eat the century egg; I won't eat it alone or in a huge piece.... at least the egg gets sliced into bite-size when the bowl reaches me so the taste isn't THAT strong. I used to dare to eat pork liver, intestines and durian when I was a kid though; ironically, not anymore.....

I eat century eggs in congee too since my mother usually adds these eggs when she cooks congee. But I won't eat them plain.

I totallY agree with your comment on the century eggs.  EWW!!!  If I went on the Amazing Race, I'd have my partner do the Roadblock -- but I'd have him do all eating Roadblocks, then again.

Please enough with the descriptions, I'm ready to puke just reading about them much less eating them. No wonder poor Claire is about to vomit, especially if she was already pregnant during that race as I' ve read in another post.

As a Chinese, this is a delicacy   :lol3:
we all love the egg
It is really strange to see the participants struggle to eat the egg as we consider the egg as delicious.

From the caps to me, it looks a lot more like seafood than any dimsum... o_o
I've recently been to one in Chinatown and most things they serve there are
not much like that, they don't reallly serve seafood... o.o
but, that just me XP  B:)

I hope this hasn't already been posted. I just noticed that Brooke has that bandage on her leg here as well. It's clearly visible in Cap 25 and 26

Caps are clues:

so maybe it is the egg?

And thanks for that TL! So sometime before the eating task Brook has an injury...

I do not think she is eating a century egg.  The "white" of a century egg is translucent, yet firm, and the yolk is green.  I had some when I visited China a few months ago; they are not bad at all.

Century eggs are delicious, folk. I had some when I went to a Chinese friend's home. With a bit of vinegar, they have an amazing and rich taste.

But yes, I agree that does not look like a century egg, because there shouldn't be any white.  :duno:

Could our find (with a gender-bender) be somehow related then?

One interesting thing of note: while running to Cheung Po Tsai Cave, a man twisted his ankle and had serious problems; an ambulance was called and there was a bit of a delay. It's unclear whether this was a member of the crew or a racer. I checked out the hospital on the island but didn't come up with anything.

I can c how Brooke can b mistaken for a man sometimes by sight since she is very driven in her actions, but not by her voice.

Anyone know if the promo department for CBS produces the promos or if its down with in the actually production?  As I  know another show I really love has actually only made their own promos a few time and the the other hundred plus were all done by the network/ studio and often done quite poorly in the executive producers own words.

Not a clue.

I do see how it could be made by a CBS team that is not affiliated with the Race and doesn't know what they are doing. These types are only focusing on marketing, not accuracy.

Found thic pic on Sina Microblog(Chinese Twitter) ,Jill and Thomas spotted at THE AVENUE OF STARS ,HongKong.
Wait, alone?  Thought they were with Brook & Claire and Nat & Kat.

Here you go...THANKS Weihen!! :hearts:

The other teams could be just out of the frame (although the photographer did not capture a picture of other teams).  It looks like Jill & Thomas just finished a task are finding out what they will do next.

Google, always the charmer. Couldn't translate the first sentence, but here's the rest:

One of TAR 17's final three legs will be in Hong Kong! There will be teams riding tricycles at Cheung Chau, and a checkpoint at Cheung Po Tsai Cave - I wonder if that would be a Roadblock or a Detour? For those who don't have AXN, you can watch it online through the mainland channels, it's called "Jisu Qianjin" in Mandarin...

Probably something they took off here or from our sources.
