RFF TAR 17 pick-em game
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:10:43 PM »
http://targame.realityfanforum.com/

Game is now line.  Remember you need to follow the link to the game page.  Here you will need to create a id and password (if you haven't played before, or if you just want a new one).  You can use your same site name, or you can confuse the living hell out of me by picking something new.  You will need to sign in each time you play.  Remember to always hit the submit button when you put your answers in.  Once you have done that you can sign back in and you choices will still be marked (you can still change them).

I strongly suggest you double check that your answer are in, as I have no control over the program.  And usually once or twice a year someone loses a week.

The game is open until 755pm eastern time unless otherwise noted (even though this week is starting a half hour later I am still closing the board at the normal time.  Usually the only time we close earlier is when Canada gets it an hour early.

If you have any questions on the wording of the questions feel free to ask.  You can do it privately through private message (where you it will be kept private) or you can use the game thread where all questions will be answered public.
 :jumpy:

Lets Play.
Good luck everyone.

Ok, everyone I am running a little behind schedule (actually I think thats about par for the course for me) in getting this season's pick'em game up and going.

Just some early notes.

The questions should be posted each week on this thread (to reference), there will be a separate link (when its up) at the top of this thread, where you can go to sign up for the game and where you enter your answers for each week of the game (as well as to see how great you are doing, because I know everyone is going to do great).

Here is the hoped for (and never kept) schedule.

1.  New game up no later then the Tuesday before the new episode.

2.  After the episode I will post what I believe to be the correct answers before people discover that I have apparently been hitting the bong once too many times.

3.  Hopefully by the Tuesday following the broadcast the scores for that week will be posted.

This year I am going to try and be consistent with the points awarded for questions (except for the finale episode which is always worth more points, as I need a chance to catch up).

A question that only has two possible answers will only be worth 5 points.
A question with three to 5 possible answers will be worth 10 points.
A question with 6 to 10 possible answers will be worth 15 points
A question with more then 10 possible answers will be worth 20 points (this will happen this week and perhaps next week).

As I like to have you guys be active in playing I also will award points for people who point out when I am wrong (and not not with grammar or spelling otherwise everyone would already have about 3,000 points) at scoring the actual game (In other words on the thread I gave the correct answer but when I entered it into the system I messed up, it does happen and this helps correct my errors).  Ad also when I give what I believe are my finals answers, if you can show me that I am wrong you can also earn points.  These are worth one little point.

Inmost weeks I will also ask a bonus question (where any answer given is awarded points) just to get some feedback about how you feel the race is for this season.  This is usually 5 points.

Question regarding

Quote
Do we hear more then one person say (not counting Phil) “Amazing Race”?

Do they have to say "Amazing Race" on its own, or will it count if its said in a sentence, such as (off the top of my head) "They don't call it it The Amazing Race for nothing"

Also for the driving questions, should there be an option for no self driving?

I will add an option for no self driving.  As to the first question, any statement that includes amazing race counts.  What wouldn't count is this:  we are on a rave and it's amazing!

But things like:  I can't believe were on the amazing race.  Or it's not called the amazing race for nothing!  Just as a couple examples.

OMG.  I was just checking out last season's game (to clarify how I might word a few things) and look what I found.

Quote
10 Free Points - We are four episodes (and with all of season 15 as well) what do you think are chances this year are for winning the emmy?
0 points - 16 people answered this question - Please, it's in the bag
0 points - 4 people answered this question - It's as good as always but my God Survivor is having an absolutely awesome year.
0 points - 1 people answered this question - I Think it will go to Top Chef
0 points - 0 people answered this question - I Think Project Runaway came back way to strong
0 points - 1 people answered this question - I think any of those three managed stronger episodes then what TAR as produced this year.

I am the only person who picked the last option.  I am going to hell, damn traitor.

My God it was all my fault.....  And to add insult to injury what episode did I ask this question on?  Why it was the episode that they nominated......

I hate myself....

Time for some more crazy corrections and clarifications!

Quote
20 Points – Which team is first shown (full team, and not in Credits)?

This is referring to Phil's introduction of the teams or any time we might happen to see them before that, right?

Kill Me Now.

What's funny is that I actually read through all of last season's post just to try and keep that down to a dull roar.

Now on to the question.  It counts all footage except for the opening credits.  So which team is the first full team shown?

If the first screen shot is of 4 racers, yet only one full team is in that shot (then its that full team).

If the first shot is just two racers (from the same team) then thats easy.

If the first shot has 6 people in it and it includes 2 or more full teams then that is an option.

Ok here are what I are my picks for the correct answers  (let the feeding frenzy begin).  And can I say how much I love longer opening episodes.

5 Points – Do we hear how much money teams are given for this leg?

Yes, 100 US said by both Connor & Jonathan

5 Points – Do we hear more then one person say (not counting Phil) “Amazing Race”?

Yes, several people say it  including Brook, Mallory, Kat, ect and we also have Connor & Jonathan sing it.

5 Points – Do we hear Connor & Jonathan Singing?

Yes, we sure do.

20 Points – Which team is first shown (full team, and not in Credits)?

Two or more full teams are shown, before Phil introduces the teams, we see a long shoot of the back of the boats the first one we see has Jill & THomas and Gary & Mallory (though they aren't introduced first).

5 Points – Does Phil explain what the “Express Pass” Is at the starting line?

Yes, he sure does, and color me shocked.

10 Points – During the Intro Credits, what best describes the last full team shown?

Female/ Female Friend Team, Katie & Rachel

10 Points – Are the first three teams that are shown getting in the airport, the first three teams to depart the airport (Starting city)?

Yes, first teams in airport are Ron & Tony, Chad & Stephanie, and Jill & THomas.  First three teams on the flight and thus to leave Ron & Tony, Jill & Thomas, and barely Chad & Stephanie

10 Points – What best describes the task at Stonehenge?

A General Route Marker

10 Points – Which of the following teams is first to arrive at the first route marker?

Nat & Kat, who are indeed 1st to the first route marker

15 Points – Which of the following teams complete the Watermelon tasks first?

Brook & Claire, in 3rd

5 Points – Do any teams get told they have gotten a penalty?

No

5 Points – Does any team fail to complete a task?

Yes
No

OK I want input.  We don't see Ron & Tony complete the general task or perform the RB.  BUt that doesn't mean they failed to complete the task.  The question isn't if they were shown doing task, but were they shown not being able to complete a task?  I am leaning No.  But I am willing to hear opinion.

15 Points – How many women drive during this leg?

5 Brook, Nat, Stephanie, Andie and Rachel

10 Points – Which all male team finishes the leg first?

Connor & Jonathan, from dead last to third

10 Points – Which male/female team finishes the leg first?

Jill & Thomas, and they do finish 1st

10 Points – Which all female team finishes the leg first?

Nat & Kat, Doctors finish 2nd

15 Points – What best describes the Express Pass?

Something else, the ability to skip one task or general activity up to the end of leg 8.

10 Points – Which best describes the last team to check into the Pit Stop?

A Male/ Male Team, Tony & Gary  1st to worse.  First team I believe since All Stars.

10 Points – Which best describes the first team to check into the Pit Stop?

A Female/ Male Team Jill & Thomas

10 Points – How many men perform the watermelon task?

6, Thomas, Connor, Chad, Gary, Kevin and Nick.  We never see either Ron or Tony use a watermelon, so based off of footage we can't say he did.  WHich is a good thing.  Because the final option all of them isn't a correct option either as not all men performed the task.  Just one from each team with a man on it.

15 Points – How many spots do Brook & Claire loss performing the watermelon task?

1, started 2nd finished task 3rd.

5 FREE POINTS - Sight unseen, who would you like to see win this darn thing?

Andie & Jenna
Brook & Claire
Chad & Stephanie
Connor & Jonathan
Gary & Mallory
Jill & Thomas
Katie & Rachel
Michael & Kevin
Nat & Kat
Nick & Vicki
Ron & Tony

My pick based off intro videos was Connor & Jonathan.

No...

Ron: We actually did get to finish all the tasks. It was unfortunate they didn't show it. Once we arrived at Eastnor Castle, we knew we were the last team. We landed around 6:50 a.m. and we literally drove eight hours that day. ... We didn't know how far behind [the last team] we were.

And somewhere Ron talked about riding the horse (ES?? maybe) so think he did the RB.

According to the CBS recap, Ron completed it, so I say all teams completed their tasks.

What about the boat task? While they appear to be swimming across, the larger of the two (Ron? Tony?) Can be clearly heard saying "We tried"

Given that the only context of the statement is that they are swimming (In what (to me) appears to be the direction of the next route marker) it appears to me that they failed to complete the boat task as per instructions, which would mean that a team did fail to complete a task.

For the record, I picked no for my answer.

We can't use info outside of the episodes so I can't use the clips as proof.  Yes Ron is on the horse, but we don't see him but we don't see them complete either task.

I believe that we should either

a) give all the people points
or
b) give no points at all.

From the episode, we cannot prove that either they did or did not finish, so personally I think that we should give no points at all since they weren't proven to either finish or not finishing all tasks.
