They're really fierce competitors who got screwed by no bunching, which technically is their own fault because they suck in the previous leg.. and no bunching is a fair element in this game to ensure that teams would want to race fast to finish each leg quickly as the next leg might have no bunching point.
This season, there have been 2 legs with no bunching point already. Awesome much?

My thoughts are that this leg without bunching points was planned without taking into account the faster flight on the previous leg. As shown by Brooke & Claire and Jill & Thomas switching position, had there been no earlier flight last leg, there could have been a major team shuffle due to the physical tasks.

Yup, i guessed so as well. They didn't take into account of the faster flight option, but then maybe they do and purposely did so and let the teams realized how important it is to know how to read the map and self-drive as well as get the earliest flight possible.

They did the wrong detour, they could have probably made up time with the bikes
