Channel 7 have released their line up for the start of the new season next week. Unfortunately no Amazing Race Australia yet.

Only speculation at this stage but I have heard it may air at the start of June. This could mean TAR 18 could be aired before this. There are still a few timeslots not filled yet so you never know. Channel 7 are notorious for changing scedules at late notice so we really can't predict anything at this stage.

A June start would be awesome, because that way a 2nd season would most likely come after my 21st birthday

I don't think Channel 7 would do 2 seasons a year like they do in the US. If they give the go ahead for season 2, I'd say it would be filmed late 2011 for 2012 broadcast.

I saw that preview today during the Australian Open tennis! :hearts:

Here is my guess to when TAR Australia will air, based on trends from previous US seasons:

I'm thinking that for the time being, no TAR in Australia. On Thursday nights, they are going to have How I Met Your Mother, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives on, and as Australian TAR Fans will know, the US TAR has always given on Thursday nights, ever since Season 5 (with the exception of the last three episodes of TAR15, which shifted to Tuesday nights).

So I'm guessing that by May/June, one of those three shows will either have their season finished, or will shift to a different night (potentially when My Kitchen Rules finishes, as that show is apparently going to air three nights a week). This will allow Seven to put the US TAR season on Thursday night.

I am sort of hoping that they will show the US episodes followed by the Australian episodes on the same night, sort of like how Channel Ten shows NCIS followed by NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesday nights.

So according to my guesswork (and a little bit of my hoping) I predict a May/June start to airing TAR18 in Australia (follows the precedent set by TAR12, TAR14 and TAR16) with TAR Australia airing concurrently. :duno:

Of course, it is also very possible that they will air the entirety of TAR18 before they air TAR Australia. My other scenario is that they will air TAR18, then give TAR Australia as soon as it finishes, and then start TAR19 (less than a week behind the USA, just like how TAR17 was).

Hope I didn't blabber on for too long! B:)
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

According to this article, Nathan's partner may be his friend/fellow model Tyler Atkins.

With the reveal of the contestants, I have looked at the Israel photo in the airport again. I am having doubts over the identity of the man in the foreground with the blue shirt. Doesn't look like one of the farmers (cowboys) to me? You can clearly see Matt the farmer in the background in the hat, but the guy in blue doesn't look like Tom at all?

Could the guy in blue possibly be the male model Taylor? Or some camera crew?

Also could the person in the background in yellow be Richard (partner of Joey)???

The latest TV promo said Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Is Israel classed as the Middle East? I don't know. If not, the missing link could be somewhere like UAE, Oman, Qatar???

What about Poland ??? Wasn't Italy just a connecting point to Sri Lanka and Germany just a connecting point to Europe?
Is the Philippines confirmed as a destination or only speculated? ???

I would also think we have 12 legs. A final three (consisting of a red/yellow shirted M/M, a pair of girls in the car - F/F and a late 20's/early 30's couple - M/F) and 3 non-elims would give us 12 legs

Team bootlist kind of summary, I'm sure I've made a mistake so please help me out if you can :)

Alana & Mel - Indonesia
Anastasia & Chris - Vietnam/China
Anne-Marie & Tracy - Philippines/Vietnam
David & Kelly - Indonesia
Joey & Richard - Vietnam
Jeff & Luke -  South Africa
Matt & Tom - Philippines ???
Mo & Mos -  Philippines/Vietnam
Nathan & Tyler - South Africa
Sam & Renae - South Africa/ Israel ???
Ryot & Liberty - Philippines

So possibly Alana & Mel or David & Kelly are the first team eliminated?

Yes, Alana and Mel and Dave and Kelly look in danger of being our first two teams out...

Also I saw Mo and Mos checking in at the flagged pitstop where the Farmers and the guy with the green pack were running up to as well, and the surrounds look to be S. Africa...is this the case?

Who is this in the car here, Cap #41? I take it that it's from South Africa, are we sure it's not Alana/Mel? If it is, then maybe Kelly & Dave are the first to go?

Possibly, we have one pitstop in South Africa at Rhodes Memorial. Maybe this is the other pitstop?

Anastasia & Chris from the screen grabs look to have been somewhere in Europe doing an archery task. From what I can see so far, this is the furthest a team has been shown from an official source.

Its Mel driving. It probably is South Africa or somewhere else dry given the background - so surely not SE Asia. There is also a new promo out where we see Alana and Mel reading a clue sending them to Cape Town, so that rules them out of being first eliminated and puts them at least midfield.

Now based on new promo's etc.
This is how the race is shaping up:

Leg 1: Melbourne etc and Indonesia (non elimination)
Leg 2: Vietnam (Liberty and Ryot eliminated 1st)
Leg 3: Hong Kong and Macau, China (Tracy and Anne-Marie eliminated 2nd)
Leg 4: Johannesburg, South Africa (3rd elimination) and yet how on earth is there an intersection with 9 teams???

Wow this is hard to understand after all these promos:

Tom and Matt - seen enroute to Sri Lanka
Richard and Joey - photo enroute to Johannesburg
Sam and Renae - photo enroute to Johannesburg
Alana and Mel - seen in Jo'Burg and said "Make your way to Cape Town"
Nathan and Tyler - spotted in Jo'Burg
Mo and Mos - seen in promos in desert plains...where is that, Cape Town?
Jeff and Luke - seen in pictures, seen in dunes on buggies etc.
Chris and Anastasia - seen in Archery promo in Germany??
David and Kelly - seen saying "Africa!!"

Anne-Marie and Tracy - spotted last saying "Make your way to Hong Kong"
Liberty and Ryot - spotted last saying "Make your way to Vietnam" at Indonesia pit-start

Perhaps the intersection involves 3 teams of 3.  Any chance channel 7 would film fake promos to keep us all guessing?  Also could be a leg with a double elimination or something new we haven't seen before.

The Intersection is at V&A Waterfront, Cape Town!

So my speculations based on spoilers and past races are:

Leg 1: Melbourne, Australia to Bali, Indonesia
Leg 2: Bali, Indonesia to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Hue, Vietnam - TARA4
Leg 3: Hue, Vietnam to Hong Kong, China to Macau, China  - TARA3
Leg 4: Macua, China to Johannesburg, South Africa - TARA2 and TARI
Leg 5: Johannesburg, South Africa to Cape Town, Africa - TARA2
Leg 6: Cape Town, Africa to Frankfurt, Germany to Prague, Czech Republic to Beroun, Czech Republic - TARA 2
Leg 7: Beroun, Czech Republic to Prague, Czech Republic - TARA2
Leg 8: Frankfurt, Germany to Bat Yam, Israel - Original
Leg 9: Bat Yam, Israel to Colombo Sri Lanka - TARA4
Leg 10: Colombo, Sri Lanka to Galle, Colombo to Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka - TARA4
Leg 11: Sri Lanka to Singapore, Singapore - TARA4
Leg 12: Singapore, Singapore to Fremantle, Australia
