Could just be me, but there seems to be an interesting amount of activity on the MCG webcam today.

And it is Melbourne Cup day today. A poignant day to kick off, no?

They are getting the MCG ready for the Australia vs. Sri Lanka cricket match, on tomorrow.

The old read the paper for your clue?

The only prob is that we do not think the race is underway just yet.

Soon, but not yet... :duno:

Good, we are all in agreement.

They can't be holding off much longer, then -- otherwise they'll either be racing over Christmas or risk ending at some point in the annual local heatwave. And Seven's lawyers are absolutely NOT going to let them risk someone collapsing with heatstroke.

TAR Aussie! I hope it makes a good showcase of Australia (because, sorry but IMO, Australia is kinda neutral except the Aborigines part, but I know it's very colorful). I hope my view towards Australia be changed.

P.S. Sorry if I offended Aussies, but I didn't mean to offend anyone! :kuss: :hugs:

I wonder. Could the newspaper thing have been done in advance to force teams to go to one specific newsstand (which just conveniently happens to have spare copies on hand)? Otherwise they could just go anywhere and buy it, even if they were in one of the outer suburbs or something. And maybe this was easier than organising completely mocked-up newspapers?

The more I think about it, though, the more I'm convinced it was real and they've somehow managed to do the near-impossible by avoiding spoilers for a week.

I was at Old Melbourne Gaol (now a museum, and less than a block away from where I am right now) this morning, and the person I spoke to mentioned a Ned Kelly-related function on the Thursday night, telling me they had to clean everything up quickly because of "a very early start" on Friday morning, then quickly backtracking. The problem? It doesn't open to the public until 9:30am weekdays, which could hardly be considered "very early".

Wonder if the grounding of Qantas A380s is going to have an effect - not seeing many flight cancellations yet...

That's at the MCG. Gate 5, if I'm not mistaken. (It's the area where everybody parks on the grass and pays through the nose for it, at least)

Seems strange that somebody could get such a clear and close up photo of it though.

Statue in the background is of cricketer Dennis Lille out side the Melbourne Cricket Ground (the MCG).

See photos attached.

The MCG webcam is not giving much away. Pointing into the empty stands. Apparently helicopters overhead posted on Twitter, lots of activity.

Teams and crew spotted at Melbourne airport http://yfrog.com/4jtl1wlj

Looks like cowboy males, and middle aged man and wife couple.

This is definately in the international terminal. Ground staff look very orange which would suggest Jetstar airlines?? There are 2 possible Jetstar flights left today. One is Christchurch, New Zealand at 17:55. The other is Denpasar, Bali Indonesia at 18:45.

I would maybe pick Christchurch since there is an Air New Zealand flight that leaves 25 minutes after the Jetstar flight. Could be a race to get first flight scenario.

My source from TV blog website has said that they were filming in South Melbourne / Albert Park today also. Could they have done some tasks before getting on the flight tonight??

Also expect an announcement about the host of the show in the press tomorrow.

I count more than 7 cars waiting, so I don't think there would be only 7 teams.

I also find it strange there are no clues or fanny packs with those bags. I would have thought that the bags and clues would be placed inside the stadium to avoid suspicion.  :duno: Do we know if the photo of the bags and cars were taken close to the starting time?

Since we know Bali, lets look for some things to do:

First off, I think they will head to the Bali Bombing memorial and/or Peace Park.

In Ubud, they have the Ubud Monkey Forest. (A sacred nature reserve located near the southern end of Jalan Monkey Forest. It houses a temple and approximately 340 Crab-eating Macaque (Macaca fascicularis) monkeys.)

Nearby The Moon of Pejeng, in Pejeng, is the largest single-cast bronze kettle drum in the world.

Kuta beach is also a tourism hotspot in southern Bali.

http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2010/11/grant-bowler-to-host-amazing-race-australia.html

Quote
Minor Spoilers: Grant Bowler will host The Amazing Race Australia.

As tipped, the host was announced today following the beginning of filming in Melbourne yesterday.

The former Mole host and actor was one name rumoured to be in line for the role. US host Phil Keoghan was the hot favourite.

“I was a bit burned out recently and doing something like The Amazing Race breaks things up for me,” Bowler said.

“It’s such an exciting show to be part of.”

The Aussie teams are already overseas, rumoured to now be in Bali.

“This is such a big show. No one’s been more surprised than me that I’ve been asked to do these hosting jobs,” said Bowler.

“But I love it. It’s human psychology at work.”

Bowler should prove a winner for this one. Be careful what you take through customs guys!

The Bali info is from us, awesome job guys!

Bowler is a very good choice for host- He successfully hosted The Mole for 4 seasons, and now hosts Border Security: Australia's Front Line. Great choice by Seven.

Definitely wanted Phil to host, but Grant is an excellent choice!!   Soooo glad it wasn't Grant Denyer or Ben Cousins! :yess:
