Survivor 21 Cast **MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS**
« on: July 15, 2010, 11:29:57 AM »
TDT has figured out the first person in this season's cast: Holly Hoffman, 44 from Eureka, SD. She lives on a cattle ranch, in her mid-40's and married to a state legislator. Her daughter was Miss Teen South Dakota.

Could tribes be divided by age?

Correction. Holly is from South Dakota and currently works as both a pageant director and a swim coach. And how about this for a small world. Jimmy Tarantinio is from Gloucester and has an interview up with Capt. Joe from a while back; the same guy that helped spoil the start of TAR17.

I'm sure he is, he's still pretty active and always looks to be in good health and good spirits whenever I see him on TV. I'm just not a huge fan of CBS putting such a big celebrity on a show for civilians. Gary Hogeboom in the Guatemala season was one thing, but JJ's still pretty active.

JJ was also responsible for two national championships for the University of Miami Hurricanes, maybe three if you count the impact og his recruiting skills, before he left for the Cowboys.  He also was head coach for the Miami Dolphins after he left Dallas.
JJ is a smart motivator, he's a genius at it.  That's the factor that makes him a potentially strong player on Survivor. (He was responsible for some things on the field during his days at "The U" that were later banned by the NCAA.) I'll be backing him, definitely, as hes said recently that although he was a player on a national championship team at Arkansas with Jerry Jones, he still consider "The U" to be his home.

TDT added 26 year old Kelly Bruno to the list. She is a medical student and triathlete currently residing in Durham, NC and also happens to be the first female amputee.

That's too bad that Bill Cisco character didn't get casted. From his video, it seems he would've been perfect for the show.

Interesting to note the difference in how many older folks applied and how many younger contestants applied....

But it isn't nececarily a bad thing, sometimes we do get characters from recruits...I'm just happy 10 and possibly more of 20 applied because I can remember the likes of Fiji where Gary was the only one who applied and the rest were recruited!  :knuckles:

Very true. I was disgusted when I first heard that Fiji only had one real applicant. This is definitely a step in the right direction though. :)

It does make me miss the days when EVERYONE was a real applicant...

'Jimmy T' Tarantino, 48, Former Fisherman, Gloucester, MA (applied)

As the voice of gloucester at goodmorninggloucester.com, our own RFF contributer captjoe06 (who brought us the start of TAR 17, and the first leg of round the World for Free) has been on the coverage of his fellow Gloucester man from the beginning.

Jimmy T was the winner of the Survivor fan video competition this season.

You can see a video interview that Joey did with Jimmy about how Gloucester could help, and what this opportunity meant to Jimmy T  right here:

You can also find some vid links here for Jimmy T dory rowing.

I stopped watching Survivor regularly years ago (which is too bad... it's a good show, but life and schoolwork always got in the way Thursday at 8 ), and Fiji was the first season I skipped altogether. Maybe someday I'll go back and watch it, but I don't know if it's worth the time and effort.

Somehow I don't really like the idea of old vs. young. It's a novel and interesting concept, but unless they're gonna cast some real physical older people, I can foresee the young people dominating challenge after challenge and it'll defeat the whole purpose of the game. Well, unless the challenges are not so physical this time. Either way, I guess it'll be cool to see how it all plays out. It'd better be a good season!

Well, unless the challenges are not so physical this time. Either way, I guess it'll be cool to see how it all plays out. It'd better be a good season!

I posted this in the other thread, but this is a quote from missy at Sucks:

"As far as The Game itself, I am told there are no medivaccs, no Exile Island, 20 players, merge at 12, and the challenges were not very physical. The 40 and older team had the more physical players but the challenges did not favor that type of player. The strongest player on either team was on the 30 and under tribe. He is 30 years old. Think James Clement, but white and stronger."

And this is from an interview ET had with JP:

ET: Did you keep the same challenges?
Jeff Probst: No. We adapted the challenges. You don't want to do big, strong physical, knock-down, drag-out challenges when it is old vs. young. We built challenges that would be as fair for a 68-year-old guy as they would for an 18-year-old woman.

They have also said that the first boot is a female, and that it isn't Holly, and hinted that Jill warrants more than a "Jill who?" comment.

Some mo' (from various posters at Sucks):

AfricaLover333:
- Chase and Brenda are in a romance where Brenda controls Chase
- [Friends: Alina, Fabio, Shannon; not in this group: Na Onka and Kelly S.]
- Shannon calls everyone out on his tribe at TC and does not make the jury
- The young tribe wins a lot of challenges and their success has nothing to do with strategy what so ever
- Most big characters leave pre-jury
- Brenda, Na Onka and Sash form a minority alliance but it doesn't last long

blackwhale:
-40+ [Espada] tribe members: 6 booted premerge, 4 make jury; 30- [La Flor] tribe members: 2 booted premerge; 5 make jury.

That implies that the final 3 are all members of La Flor.
