I don't think you closely read the info posted from our eyewitnesses above. :kuss:

Hi guys!  I have a question about casting.  I know that the application clearly says that you should not submit another application with the same partner, but how strict is this rule?  Not to say that I think my preferred partner and I are so interesting as to merit another go-around over everyone else, but I ask because it seems that TAR has been bending the rules lately when it comes to casting (i.e. with age, length of app video, etc.) so I'm not sure how strict they are with this rule.

I know of at least two teams who applied together MULTUPLE times and were eventually chosen.

Good luck and :welcome: to RFF!

Thanks Peach--I'm a long-time lurker, and finally decided to post!

About the application though, I guess I'm just nervous!  (I always stick by the rules, haha.)  But the teams you know who did get chosen--did they at least make it to the semifinals or finals the first time?  I ask because I know that casting actually encourages people to submit another application if they've made it to either the semifinals or finals.  Also, again the teams that you know of--did they apply in one of the early seasons?  I know that casting made the "don't apply with the same partner again" rule a bit later on in TAR's life.

And on a random note--I'm a Georgia native too!  :waves:

If you made it to the finals they do not want any more applications from you. They keep your info on file.
If you made it to the semifinals then you can send in more applications.  I applied with my Dad twice(no call back) and then with a running friend of mine twice(call the second time for extra info no semi final)
Then when they did the Family Edition they called me from a Survivor application. I didn't apply to that TAR  because originally all kids had to be over 12.

I would say keep applying until they tell you to stop. :knuckles:  Plus apply to other stuff like Survivor since they use the same casting people.

Thanks for all the help!  I'm definitely applying with my preferred partner again then. :)

Selina - When you do your video and application.

Number one advice I can give you is don't treat this as a resume.  They are not looking for people who would make great travelers. They are looking for people who would be entertaining.
Give them a reason in your application or video that would make them want to meet you.

good luck

Thanks for the advice banredbeans!  I think that's the mistake I made the first time--I was too controlled with how I presented myself (and even my partner).  I won't do that again!

If you make mistakes in your video and they are funny just keep them in there.  Our puppy got out of his crate during our video and pee'd on the floor.  Carissa didn't see it and actually did a sit up in it and then starting screaming like Lucy(Charlie Brown) I have puppy pee in my hair. We didn't cut it out of the video and I swear that is one of the reasons we got a semi interview since the PA kept laughing about it.

Be natural and be yourself because you never know what they are looking for.

There are no teams confirmed for this season, right? When does the race begin and we might start seeing sightings?

A.D., at the moment no one knows,

There has been a wide divergent of dates in the past for the filming dates for a spring edition of TAR, it's really hard to speculate unless there's something tangible that shows that TPTB have moved forward towards filming.  Sometimes, it's an announced application period for a particular edition, aometimes, it has been an item in the entertainment industry trade news media, sometimes CBS actually puts something out.

We're all just as anxious to know as you are, believe me.  But patience is as much a virtue in race detective work as it is for a Racer while Racing.

Nice to see the pictures from 8/28. I was to be heading that way for a night at foxwoods that Friday night, but had a change of plans. Now my good buddy cant take off this Wednesday to make the NJ casting call  :'( Ive been a die hard fan of TAR since Season 6. I watched season 1 last year and though it felt odd, it was awesome. Too bad I cant get the other seasons. I got them from an unofficial place, but they aren't clear and I just cant watch them like that.
Also, not sure if anyone knows about this, but there are two CBS casting call sites. Oddly, they show different info:
http://www.cbs.com/cbs_casting/ & http://www.cbs.com/casting/
I have both bookmarked, but no new information at the moment. Oddly, none of them show the NJ casting call and only one shows the 8/28 casting call!

I don't get it, what's up with all the upcoming casting calls I'm hearing about? I pretty much trust anything that Peach posts on here, so if Season 18 is inviting back former racers, what's with the casting calls? I hate to think people are getting their hopes up and wasting their time by going to casting calls to only find out later that none of them had a chance for Season 18. There's always Season 19, but that's pretty far off to be casting so early. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope that they decided against former racers?! (But I think that's just my wishful thinking!)

We would be only about 4-6 months out for preliminary casting for the next season, so doesn't seem too early to me if they go by other previous date ranges.

But I am not affiliated with their casting, so I am only speculating as well.

I agree with this. Keep in mind that audition materials were due for Season 17 in late January. So, perhaps they are just getting started early. I imagine that with them going with a former racers version of TAR18, they don't want to release a Season 18 application because there is no need for one and releasing a Season 19 application would somewhat let the cat out of the bag in regards to their plans for a "different" season 18.

They don't do these casting calls just to have fun. It takes some time, energy, and money to pull these off. They wouldn't do them if there was absolutely no point to having them.

I believe that TPTB is trying to avoid the confusion that existed leading up to TAR 11 and 12.

There was a very short application period for 11,and many assumed the dates were being followed until word cane out that in fact, 11 was being greenlighted for a "Return of the Racers" season. Those apps submitted for 11 were rolled over to 12; but those folks who had applied had no way of knowning what cities would host the semi-final interviews, or when.  By simply not announcing a period for 18, and not announcing the 19 application period until the status of 18 comes out, TPTB avoid the confusion.

All of this could be simplified if they would just go ahead and give us something about 18; then there wouldn't be this anziety and confusion. (Makes me think of "All Along The Watchtower.")
