The Amazing Race 17 TIMELINE/Spoiler Summary Thread

--- Quote from: Neobie on June 05, 2010, 11:59:11 PM ---The first Stockholm sighting at Arlanda Intl was posted on the evening of 1 Jun. According to the Accra spoiler, teams arrived in Frankfurt on the morning of that same day. That's not enough for a leg and a Pit Stop, but it's way too long for a connection. Could the poster have seen the teams earlier in the day, then waited all the way until 2am to post? What could have happened here?

A couple of things:
Didn't the poster say he only saw a couple of teams on 6/1. Isn't it possible that both Frankfurt and Stockholm were connections at the same time to another European city, or all of the teams were on an Accra-Frankfurt-Stockholm-somewhere else flight? Also, because we have no actual sightings of teams in Stockholm (at least I don't think so), its possible that the 6/5 sighting was also a connection point (somewhere --> Stockholm --> St. Petersburg). I'm not doubting legs in Sweden, but with the race just visiting there two seasons ago, I wouldn't be surprised if the country wasn't visited again. Then again, if we do have solid sightings within the country besides the airport, I must've missed them and I take all this back.
If one of the detectives (peach, Neobie, woden, etc) could respond, that'd be great.

Definitely possible, but there are no direct flights from Accra to Stockholm, and if teams head to Frankfurt first, they should be able to connect to most European cities without having to go through Stockholm. Baltic Europe would have been a possibility had we not received the second Stockholm sighting, but I'd tend to think Baltic cities have pretty good connections with St Petersburg without requiring teams to backtrack through Stockholm.
ETA: Ran a check to see which cities would warrant an Accra-Frankfurt-Stockholm-[destination] itinerary, and the only two (neither of which really make sense) are Reykjavik and Tallinn.
Neobie:
The sighting of teams at Muscat Airport looking for flights to Bangladesh on the night of 8 Jun fit in well with our itinerary. Looks like one leg each in Russia and Oman. Phil has the option of flying from St Petersburg to Muscat night of the 5th, 8.10pm to 9.30am via Moscow DME and Dubai. He can also easily get from Muscat to Dhaka night of the 7th, 12.15am to 12.00pm via Mumbai. The same options are open for teams the day after.
The spoiler map is constantly being updated in the Maps Thread.
