It certainly is better then seasons 13, 14 and 15.  Season 12 actually had some driving in it.  Difficulty wise probably not a ton, but mileage wise more then what they have had to do so far.

But really this season the distance they have driven hasn't been that great.   But like you say it is an improvement over the last few seasons.

Thank God, we didn't do that much of self-driving on my season!!! It was reallllllly hard to get a good direction from locals!  We had a sweet German couple led us from the detour task to the pit stop in Austria. Big helpful would be to have a local to lead a team to the tasks instead of writing directions down. That could pretty much could seal your fate.
I hate it when teams get lead to their locations (I wish it was illegal).  Seriously on something that has the term race in it, I find that the ability to get directions, use a map, and research (can stress how often older seasons used Hotels and internet).  You rarely saw teams pay a cab or ask a local to ride with them or drive in front guiding them.

There used to be more overnight rests that actually made teams calm down and check the internet. Now, they gotta RACEEEEE.

Yeah this is the first season that it is no longer allowed (thank you god), you can still follow a person, but I would assume you can't pay someone for guiding you (Or its specific towards cabs).
The paying the cab driver got really ridiculous in TAR 10 with Erwin & Godwin and the Beauty Queens paying taxi drivers all over the place. And it also got out of hand in TAR Asia.

Yeah, I'm glad to see the cabs being taken out of play. But I hope it doesn't necessarily mean more kidnapping of locals a la Charla & Mirna. The way they used to strongarm locals was this close to taking them for a ride.
Just here to visit.

I don't mean during rest periods or during the Pit Stops.  Teams would use the internet when stopping at hotels for directions (usually a good place to get directions and to get descent cab service), they would use the internet while waiting for flights, or for buses (they still use those and still have to wait).

I am not saying teams did it all the time, but it was a tool that was used.  I will say that several of the teams this week stopped at what should be good places, whether they got bad directions because only using the name and not the full clue, or just error on the part of locals, it does happen.  But I would rather that then just having a local drive you there.  I mean seriously.  How often in seasons 1-9 did you see teams do this?  It's not very damn often.  With season 10 and sense it seemed to happen quite often (that and paying for an escort).

Well, one just can't use placement.  I mean the previous episode Louie & Michael get #1 (yet in a leg that was completely in their control, no bunching, no waiting for transport, no mass transport, no public transport.  Yet only one team actually performed the leg slower then them and that is Joe & Heidi.  I mean seriously.

Even though placement might not tell the whole story, when there are two final 3 teams that have a total combined placement of 74, which is the worst in race history through 6 legs, it stands out.

In 15 seasons, no winning team, through 6 legs, has ever had an average placement lower than 5.

Dan & Jordan and Brent & Caite, through 6 legs, are each averaging 6.1666.

ETA:
I crunched the numbers, and, assuming that there are 12 legs, if Dan & Jordan and Brent & Caite end up winning, the only way that either team will avoid having the distinction as the worst performing winners in race history is by winning every single leg left.  (If there are 11 legs, then there's nothing that either team can do in order to avoid that distinction, if they win.)

As long as the insider information about Jet & Cord winning leg 11 is accurate, neither Dan & Jordan nor Brent & Caite will win six straight legs.

I'd like to know if Eric & Danielle are rooting for Dan & Jordan or Brent & Caite to win the race because either team winning guarantees that Eric & Danielle will no longer be the worst.

Just trying to think out of the box and to stir the controversy, but what if D/J and B/C are just playing dumb? As many previous teams have stated "we only need to come in first in the last leg"

I'm sure they're not dumb, per say. Daniel and Jordan aren't that bad at task-completing, it's just that they have problems with navigation. Brent/Caite don't have team spirit and are just doing badly right now.

Cork pops ... It's the GI NOUR MOUS 64 liter bottle of champagne they have to make fill an entire room full of glasses!

I have studied extra-large champagne bottles and the largest standard size is 15 liters. There are custom 18, 24 and 30 liter bottle sizes. The one commonality is that all are divisble by 3 liters. My guess is that the custom bottle was 60 liters (64 is possible but much less likely). That would weigh around 300 pounds filled, so obviously it had to be pre-opened and a lot of it reserved for putting back in increments for the pour.
