All the time I was looking for jockey silks I should have been looking for polo uniforms.  :groan: (notice how they "shopped" the mallet out of his hand )

Episode 1603' -- The teams of the CBS series "The  Amazing  Race
16" perform Detour B in which they carry a wooden horse through a Polo
Training Field and hit a ball inside the goal in order to receive their
next clue.

Sad task for a cowboy... :funny:

Surely we have this somewhere, I just can't find it right now...

Quote
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) is the most striking feature of Puerto Varas. It was built between 1915 & 1918, built entirely of oak and was modelled on the Marienkirche in the Black Forest. This Catholic Church is still in use, so please check at the front entrance to see if it is open.

Directions: Located on María Brunn, on top of a hill. Visible from the whole town.

This is going to be an awesomely beautiful leg.

So if we have the polo/compass Detour in Bariloche for Leg 3, can we have the chocolate Switchback from TAR5? If that's the case, then we've solved a leg (well, almost!)

(P.S. Great smiley Peach! Goes well alongside  :cow and  :rodeo .

I was thinking it wasn't quite right for horse racing and thought it looked like a polo player with the mallet cropped out. However, I figured that polo playing pointed more towards an Argentina leg, probably Buenos Aires, and we had ruled that out. So I kept my mouth shut. On hindsight, that guy looks big for a jockey and the horse is small for a race horse.  :groan:

The "bandits" in the detour may be inspired by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid:

Quote from: Wikipedia
On February 20, 1901, together with Ethel "Etta" Place, Longabaugh's female companion, they departed to Buenos Aires, Argentina, aboard the British steamer Herminius, Parker posing as James Ryan, Place's fictional brother. There he settled with Longabaugh and Place in a four-room log cabin on a 15,000-acre (61 km²) ranch that they purchased on the east bank of the Rio Blanco near Cholila, Chubut province in west-central Argentina, near the Andes.

On February 14, 1905, two English-speaking bandits, who may have been Parker and Longabaugh, held up the Banco de Tarapacá y Argentino in Río Gallegos, 700 miles (1,130 km) south of Cholila, near the Strait of Magellan. Escaping with a sum that would be worth at least US $100,000 today, the pair vanished north across the bleak Patagonian steppes.

On May 1, the trio sold the Cholila ranch because the law was beginning to catch up with them. The Pinkerton Agency had known their location for some time, but the rainy season had prevented their assigned agent, Frank Dimaio, from traveling there and making an arrest. Governor Julio Lezana had then issued an arrest warrant, but before it could be executed Sheriff Edward Humphreys, a Welsh Argentine who was friendly with Parker and enamored of Etta Place, tipped them off.

The trio fled north to San Carlos de Bariloche where they embarked on the steamer Condor across Nahuel Huapi Lake and into Chile. However by the end of that year they were again back in Argentina; on December 19, Parker, Longabaugh, Place and an unknown male took part in the robbery of the Banco de la Nacion in Villa Mercedes, 400 miles (650 km) west of Buenos Aires, taking 12,000 pesos. Pursued by armed lawmen, they crossed the Pampas and the Andes and again reached the safety of Chile.

Nice job! :jumpy:

Following the Isla Margarita link, could this be a boat on Lago Todos los Santos? Well it's got a Chilean flag...

And this is what we have so far?

I saw Catlyn and Brent's team preview right before the Super Bowl started. It showed that famous "such as" clip and then had them running through the streets same screencaps as posted yesterday. The only new thing was they were in a cab at the end of the clip.

Though South America has predictable locations, it will be nice to see the teams out of the city and near the gorgeous Andes!

Great find!  I've attached a kmz. There's a regulation-sized polo field (300x160 yds.) about a mile west of the the bridge. But since Detour choices are usually close together, another candidate might be the field just north of the bridge marked by the arrow. It's half the size of a regulation field, but it does have a small shack in about the same place as the cap.

 Wikimapia is no help in identifying the field in question.  It is a nice field, however.  Kinda 'splains the reason for what Neobie calls "scenic photos" of the bridges.   ;)  why else would production be there?   :umn:

Staring us in the face? (This means the polo, as the other Detour option, should be our field, right?)

Edited to remove map. I think you're right, Boingo!

  ummm... looks like "el bandito" is near the RR bridge, appears that these tasks are in the same place.

BTW, did we ever figure out what that "big hook" and cables are behind the oompah band?  looks like some sort of block and tackle setup.  OK, i'm bored....

Onces Bellavista has a bite-sized zipline (several photos in the album here).
About Margarita...If the llamas are part of a Detour, and it's on an island, then I'll guess the other half is the condor jump ("llama or condor"). There are a few photos like this one of the boat landing where production might build a platform, but not enough photos to call a match.

:lol3: how confusing can all this be, do y'all realize we are spoiling two different epiosdes (Ep. 2 & Ep. 3) here.....

I have to say CBS is doing a really good job with the content/editing of the promos leading up to the premiere this time around.

And it didn't hurt that over 100 million viewers saw some of them on Sunday.

They're doing a lousy job at featuring ALL the teams, though. My guess is we'll only get maybe one or two more team promos at most.
