Well, maybe it is possible that the flights are the ones departing at 12.52pm, 1.15pm, and 3.30pm. Teams would be in a 27-minute time difference?? The first direct flight would get teams almost 2 hours and a half ahead? Maybe only one team could take the first flight, and the rest could fight for other flights??

PS: We should think that they may be bunched in a Dep. Times the next morning, or somthieng like that, so that 2.5 hour lead would disappear...

I don't know if this is right. Only one person said Toronto. It could be a decoy like Mongolia last season.

Shloky tweeted: LOL. One team is now using my computer to plan out travel in Chile. Ill be on TV some day.

And Jeff and Jordan are standing outside of Gate 47B which is a flight to Dallas. If this is right, one of the flights should be AA2446 departing 1:05. I think they fly out to Dallas and then go to Santiago, Chile. A few people know about this from Thursday. Georgiapeach knows about this and found the flight to Chile based on info I gave.

It takes 2 and a half hours to get to Vina Del mar from Santiago.
Maybe an overnight rest at the castle?

The teams have their rest on the planes. The flights land at around 10:00, so they should arrive at the castle around 1:00.

Depending on who you ask, Valparaiso is located at a 70 to 80 miles from Santiago's Arturo Merino International Airport.
From Valparaiso to Vina de Mar is another 5 miles.

I estimate 2 hours from airport to Vina del Mar.

All I can say is from Santiago -> Valparaiso is 1 and 1/2 hrs.

Quote
Next task - I'm signing us up for The Amazing Race! Getting to Valpo was worth the effort! The 1 1/2 hour drive from Santiago was beautiful and entirely reminiscent of driving in California - brown rolling hills spotted green with trees ...

Nah, its just an application blog for Amazing Race :groan:

the flight situation from LAX to SCL has many more possibilities thatn anyone has mentioned so far. The ones through DFW and MIA have been discussed on another thread. That means that these flights were possibilities:

AA252 1430 2215 LAX MIA connecting with AA957 2345 1010+1 MIA SCL

AA2448 1350 1845  LAX DFW connecting with AA945 2110 0945+1 DFW SCL

There are usually two airlines splitting the teams, but on some occasions it has been 3. Here are some other flights:

DL61 1137 1855 LAX ATL connecting with DL147 2020 0750+1 ATL SCL

LAN 601/AA7734 departs 1200 and proceeds to one stop in Lima between 2335 and 0056+1 and arrives 0615
(note that AA7734 is listed as connecting in Lima to LP5601 which has the the same schedule

The departure times on these 2 flights are a little earlier than what is typically supported by World Race Productions dictates of which flights to use, but they do arrive much earlier.

uycocoa, you may be right but:
1. 70 to 80 miles is tough to do in 1.5 hours and
2. the destination is not Valparaiso, bit Vina Del Mar

Actually, teams are told to take a bus to Valparaiso, we believe.

Vina Del Mar is a location in Valparaiso, where the Castile Wulff is.

Thanks for the flights, because we have to take another look. All teams were in the American terminal at the same time. Dallas may not have happened. so next best? Atlanta was too early. Lan was prob also too early.

the flight situation from LAX to SCL has many more possibilities thatn anyone has mentioned so far.

It's also very dependent on when they got out of LA too, obviously.

Could I confirm that all teams were seen in Terminal 4 in LAX, and that Terminal 4 only serves domestic American Airlines flights?

'Cause I have no idea what they would have taken if they'd not gone via Dallas. JFK? A double-connection?

AA 4 to New York JFK (1230-2105)
LA 531 to Lima (2230-0630)
LA 531 to Santiago (0735-1300)

OR could they have taken the same flight to Miami, then split up onto separate flights from there?

Chateau I think will tell you that he saw no teams at United, and all of his pics were taken in the American terminal.

It's a mystery!!

Neobie,
There is another alternative, but it requires earlier departure from LAX than World Race Productions typically schedules:

AA1516 LAX MIA 1220 2005
LAN503/AA7661 MIA SCL 2130 0755

AA957, the later flight from Miami, is at 2345 departure the last flight going from the U.S. to Santiago for many hours.

I have previously identified DL61 LAX ATL 1137 1855 connecting with DL147 2020 0750. Also possible is LAN601 with the same plane continuing as AA7734 after a stop in Lima LAX SCL 1200 0615. However, both of these possibilities also suffer from the same earlier departure requirement.

Hmm, if all flights out of that terminal are domestic... It does look likely that everyone was simply herded onto the Miami flight...

Its possible teams were given two pre-selected options for the flights out of Miami, and we would only hear about those flights and not the flight out of LAX.
