TARCON XV: Questions for the Racers (and/or General Stuff)
« on: November 10, 2009, 10:44:04 AM »
With the announcement being made live earlier this morning (December 6), I guess that leaves us a little over 3 weeks to come up with any questions for the stars.

So whether it's how much time Mika/Canaan lost before their Philimination or whether Tiffany/Maria would've hit a NEL, this is the place!

I also don't think anyone actually created a thread for the finale, so in a way I tried to indicate in the title thread that this could also be a place to ask general questions about the event.  That includes how best to get there, how much is it, where the venue is (Stitch for the 7th consecutive time), where best to stay (rooming with someone is recommended with the super high prices), and which racers will show up (answer to that won't come until the event itself).

ETA: The actual info.  I think that would help

I'd like to know if Tiffany and Maria told the twitter dude, who was on board with them to Japan from LA, that they were synchronized swimmers and lesbian's from Vegas.

Eh, the usual from my 'area of expertise'!

How are the length of Pit Stops determined and told to the racers, and were they really asked to take direct flights/flights through certain cities?

No racer appearances are ever promised swimmer, but there are often former and current racers who do come to the party..

Were any of the contestants allowed to Twitter while in sequester, before the race started?

A dumb question for the truly obsessed fan (like me): Do the backpack tag numbers have any significance (like for casting roles, etc.), or are they just randomly assigned? I have (sadly) been dying to know the answer to this question. :groan:

I too would like to know how the Pit Stop lengths were determined, and whether Leg 7 was meant to be a NEL.

I want to know which racers have read anything from Franz Kafka

This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Yeah, this confused me as well.  I need to double check the post-race interview, but it's definitely worth asking and knowing, given how things turned out.  I think a similar case happened with U/J in TAR11.

So there's that, the tweeting question, and the pitstop lengths (amongst the rest).  I don't mind asking about the twitter one for the record, but I think I can answer that one now.  From pre-race sequesterville to the race to post-race sequesterville, no one is allow to have contact outside of the AR community.  Although the Twitter boom took place around February-April of this year, after the AR14 people raced (meaning that TAR15 is the first race since twitter became the thing everyone had) twitter connects with people all over the world.

I'll still ask, but only if I can get there to do so, unless someone else asks before I do.  Speaking of which, I think most of the people here that are going will be on there way out sometime tomorrow.  So if there's anything else that anyone wants to know, please try to ask it today.  I believe they need to print out the questions so no one forgets to ask the racers that can make TARcon.

Of course, if anyone forgets something, if I end up going, I should be able to see anything new that shows up tomorrow or prior to late-Saturday.

Are they still doing the cheque presentation on Monday's Early Show?
Will you be there?
Who do you think will present the cheque - since Phil won't be there (no spoilers here!).

I have a question! (If the answer is known, its okay)

Teams are usually given the freedom to browse the net during sometime (like in Airports). Has any team, or are any team allowed to go to RFF? Then in what way has it helped them?

Typically the racers would be monitored in terms of online activity.  That said, no contact on the outside world is permitted during the race.  Plus, a lot of these teams aren't familiar with the sites that follow reality on a daily basis.
