The final six girls end up in Maui. It’s possible that there is another international destination in the works and Maui is just a stopover to a Pacific or Asian destination, but that’s just unconfirmed speculation at this point.

Tyra and the models stayed at the Grand Wailea. They were spotted there on June 13th.

Tyra was seen at an art gallery in Lahai on June 14th.

Tyra and her boyfriend John were seen at the Pacifico Restaurant in Maui on June 14th.

On June 20th, there was a runway show featuring the top six.

There are six girls who have been spotted in Hawaii:

1) A brunette

2) A Chanel Iman lookalike

3) A redhead with short hair

4) A redhead with long hair

5) A racially ambiguous girl, possibly Indian or Middle Eastern

6) A girl with short hair

Josie Maran and Kim Kardashian have been confirmed as guest judges.

How short can you get
For the first time in Top Model history, girls 5'7" and under, well below the industry height standard, compete to become America's Next Top Model. Fourteen hopefuls prove that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and heights when they compete to win a contract with Wilhelmina Models. The ladies move into their Los Angeles home and learn they will be receiving makeovers the next day. During the first photo shoot, the girls put a modern twist on one of their baby photos. This week's guest judge is supermodel Chanel Iman.

How Short Can You Go
First aired September 9, 2009

For the first time, contestants under 5'7" are cast. They enter a room where they are supposedly being cast for Le Cycle 13, Fall Collection, but an actor tells them that they are too short, at which point Tyra enters and tells them 'it's time to break the mold'. Soon after they dress in model basics and are given a runway lesson by Ms. J and have a face Polaroid taken by Mr. Jay. Then comes castings. Memorable interviews include Courtney revealing she has a broken foot, modeling teacher Alison teaching Ms. J her own runway tricks, Lulu stating she is gay within seconds of her entrance and Sundai talking about her abusive childhood. During this time, Amber's personality and Nicole's lack thereof scare their fellow competitors.

20 girls are selected after the first cut and taken to a runway at the end of which they have to strike four poses. Courtney impresses Jay by soldiering on the entire runway instead of just posing. During the review, Tyra notes that many girls are posing in a more sexual than fashion way. Ultimately 14 girls are chosen and Tyra congratulates them for being pioneers.

Special Guest: Bradford Sisk

The Early Bird Gets A Makeover
First aired September 9, 2009

The girls meet on Melrose Avenue and realize that Amber is missing. The Jays arrive in a limo and take them to a salon where it is revealed that Amber withdrew from the competition due to "personal reasons". Lisa, who had been cut in the semi-finals, is replacing her. The Jays also announce that it is makeover time. Most of the girls are satisfied with their looks, except Lisa, who worries that she didn't get much of a change and Bianca, who doesn't like her bleached eyebrows.

The girls then move into a doll-themed house. On the photo shoot, they are tasked to recreate their baby pictures with a fashion twist. Rae struggles with her 8-inch heels, while Sundai and Lisa worry about their styling. Arriving on set, Bianca seems down and tells Jay she doesn't like her make-up. At panel, Rae, Nicole, Jennifer, Ashley and Bianca are noted for their strong shots, while Brittany is castigated for her overtly sexual film. Kara and Sundai are told they lacked energy and Lisa is told that she looks mean.

Fortress of Fierceness
First aired September 16, 2009

The girls meet Wilhelmina Models director Sean Patterson and Nigel Barker. Each girl then meets them alone and Lulu loses points with Nigel by mentioning she doesn't pay attention to photographers in editorials while Courtney once again impresses by walking despite her pain. Rachel goes blank when asked about her musical background. After the meetings, Sean shocks the girls by eliminating Rachel in a surprise elimination for her lack of charisma.

The girls then meet a rude photographer asking for the perfect shot in one take, which the girls struggle with until Tyra arrives and "defeats" him. She then coaches the girls on their "smize" (smiling with their eyes), which gets Jennifer worried because of her eyelid ptosis and directs a challenge where the girls are in full body suits, paired up and pitted against each other to see who has the best smize. The winners (Bianca, Brittany, Courtney, Kara, Laura, & Lulu) go to dinner with Sean Patterson, while the losers wash the dishes.

Next, the girls pose topless with a jockey and a horse. At panel, Erin, Brittany, Laura and Nicole all impress the judges with their shots while Ashley is castigated for overposing and Bianca, despite her resolve not to complain, hints that she didn't like her wig. This lands her in the bottom two again but she is spared for the second time as Courtney is sent home for admitting that being asked to keep her boot hindered her performance, and for self-defeating.

Eliminated Outside of Judging Panel: Rachel Echelberger
First Call-Out: Erin Wagner
Bottom Two: Bianca Richardson & Courtney Davies
Eliminated: Courtney Davies
Featured Photographer: Firooz Zahedi
Special Guests: Sean Patterson, Lauren Conrad

Ultimately, Bianca lands in the bottom two because of her lack of professionalism, but it is Lisa's poor performance at the shoot and timid personality that gets her eliminated as the judges feel she is not making the most of her second chance.

Quit: Amber DePace[2]
Amber's Replacement: Lisa Ramos
First Call-Out: Rae Weisz
Bottom Two: Bianca Richardson & Lisa Ramos
Eliminated: Lisa Ramos
Featured Photographer: Baldomero Fernandez
Special Guests: Chanel Iman, Sally Hershberger

Make Me Tall

First aired September 23, 2009

The episode starts with Bianca being determined to become softer. After being introduced to a 9-year-old runway model, the girls get their first runway teach with Miss J, learning to "walk tall" and how to walk with a partner. The challenge later requires them to walk next to models who are 5'10" and above.

Brittany impresses Ann Shoket and wins an editorial for herself, Kara and Laura, angering Ashley and Lulu who had earlier coached Brittany how to walk. Back at the house, Nicole bonds with Bianca as the latter reveals her fear of showing vulnerability due to her abusive past. Ashley and Lulu later warn Nicole that she is being used, upsetting her. Nicole and Brittany then discuss their chagrin, calling Ashley a mean-girl and Lulu her sidekick.

At the photo shoot, Brittany struggles with the fact that the girls are allowed to watch her, while Bianca has to be distracted to look softer. At panel, Kara, Nicole and Erin receive unanimous praise, whereas Brittany, Rae and Laura are castigated for making themselves look shorter. Sundai is praised for her picture but her outfit and lack of presence on the runway do not sit well with Miss J. In the end Brittany survives her first bottom two appearance as Lulu is eliminated for her poor performance at the shoot and uninspiring personality.

First Call-Out: Kara Vincent
Bottom Two: Brittany Markert & Lulu Braithwaite
Eliminated: Lulu Braithwaite
Featured Photographer: Jonathan Mannion
Special Guests: Diva Davanna, Kevan Hall, Jaime Rishar, Ann Shoket
Top Model in Action: McKey Sullivan (Cycle 11)

Take My Photo, Tyra!
First aired September 30, 2009

The girls are taught how to do their own make-up by Sam Fine and each girl is given individual tips. Later they meet Nigel and Crissy Barker for a CoverGirl challenge, where they have to race and do their own styling and make-up through various sessions, with the last girls eliminated at each session. Laura and Kara are the first to be eliminated, followed by Nicole and Jennifer and Brittany and Rae. At the last stop the girls have to pick their pictures from a bin. Erin keeps Ashley's picture until she finds her own, eliminating Ashley. Ultimately Sundai wins to have her picture on Wal-Mart's website and a $1,000 gift from CoverGirl.

On the way to the photo shoot, Bianca and Ashley confront Erin about her behavior at the challenge, making her cry. The girls find Tyra wrapped in scarves and explains that they will be modeling scarves and the best picture will be given immunity at panel. Erin, Rae and Sundai perform well, while Ashley struggles a lot and has to change outfit three times. Meanwhile, Tyra decides to bring in a fan to improve Laura's performance and Jennifer tries screaming. Brittany is deemed the best and is given immunity as well as the opportunity to do a shoot with two male models.

At panel, many girls get good reviews and Jennifer is lauded by Tyra for bringing personality in her shoot, while Kara is chastised for not bringing any to hers. Ultimately Ashley lands in the bottom two for her poor performance but Bianca's third appearance in the bottom two in four panels is her undoing.

Immune / First Call-Out: Brittany Markert
Bottom Two: Ashley Howard & Bianca Richardson
Eliminated: Bianca Richardson
Featured Photographer: Tyra Banks
Special Guests: Crissy Barker, China Chow, Sam Fine, Juan Munoz Hortado, Gene Williamson
Top Model in Action: Samantha Francis (Cycle 8)

Dance With Me

First aired October 7, 2009

Benny Ninja choreographs the nine remaining models to dance without expressions on their faces. This week's Cirque du Soleil inspired themed photo shoot takes the girls on a surprise trip to Las Vegas. The guest judge is petite supermodel Josie Maran.

First Call-Outs: Brittany Markert, Jennifer An & Rae Weisz
Bottom Two: Ashley Howard & Kara Vincent
Eliminated: Ashley Howard
Featured Photographer: Mike Rosenthal
Special Guests: Benny Ninja, Jabbawockeez, Josie Maran, Lil Mama, Rhonda Faber Green

Petite Ninja Warriors
First aired October 14, 2009

The girls are driven to Wilhelmina and are told they will go on go-sees in pairs (Nicole & Laura, Brittany & Kara, Erin & Jennifer and Rae & Sundai). They are given a car, but must navigate themselves with the aid of a map. The go-sees include an audition for a commercial, which most of the girls fail at, except for Nicole, who is eager to make-up for her previous bad week. Sundai and Rae try to squeeze in one last go-see, and end up being disqualified for being late. Nicole is declared the winner and rewarded a piece from each designer's collection and is told she will star in the commercial she auditioned for. Back at the house, Kara and Sundai are ticked off by Nicole's supposed "set-up" win.

The photo shoot have the girls pose as martial artists with the weapon of their choice. Most of the girls struggle with the harness they have to wear.

At panel, Nicole, Laura, Brittany, Erin and Jennifer are praised, while Sundai is once again castigated for over-accessorizing her outfit and lacking versatility. However, the panel is worried about Brittany's and Rae's lack of presence in person and Erin's slight attitude. Ultimately Kara is eliminated within her second consecutive appearance in the bottom two for appearing to give up, while Sundai is spared and told to pull it together.

First Call-Out: Nicole Fox
Bottom Two: Kara Vincent & Sundai Love
Eliminated: Kara Vincent
Featured Photographer: Patricia Van Oh
Special Guests: Sean Patterson, Lauren Shiohama, Jessica White
Top Model in Action: Fo Porter (Cycle 12)

In the limo on the way back to the model home from last week's elimination, Jennifer admits to Erin that she knew Erin was going to be in the bottom two. Erin agrees, and was disappointed that she couldn't hold it together during the commercial. Brittany says that she is different than the other girls in the house, being 21, she feels she is more well-rounded.

When the limo pulls up to the house, there is "danger" tape across the front entrance, and the girls enter to find people in hazardous material suits working to clean up the house. The girls see Tyra spray-painting "Condemed" onto the wall. She says that this is the most disgusting Top Model house that she's ever seen. She says they can't live there anymore, because they are moving to... (she opens the sliding door, and there are Hawaiian dancers in the backyard) Hawaii! The girls scream and clap, and celebrate with a quick Hawaiian snack before Tyra tells them that they need to go pack their bags right away.

The Top Model plane takes off, and the next we see the girls is as they are landing in Maui. The bus takes them to their Hawaiian home, which is gorgeous. They scout out all the rooms and find big screen TVs in each one with Jennifer's winning commercial playing on each one. And, what do you know... there is a Bankable safe here, and of course... Tyra mail!

"If you want to catch a break, you're going to have to go out there and get it. -- Love, Tyra"
The girls make their way to the first challenge, where they wind up on a beach with six surfboards. They meet a man and woman by the boards. The man introduces the woman as Sofia Beschen, who is a petite model. Sofia then introduces the man as Buzzy Kerbox, who is a surfing champion. Sofia says that Tyra wants the girls to learn how to surf. The girls each try to hang ten, and Sundai and Brittany have success fairly early. Most of them end up able to stand on the boards for at least a short time.

Soon the girls are back on dry land again, when two surfers come over to them and ask if they'd like to go surfing, but before they can answer, Mr. Jay comes up behind them, and reminds them that they're there for a competition, not a vacation. He says that they'll be doing a photo shoot challenge that afternoon. The girls will be surfing tandem with the two surfers that came up to them, while they are photographed. The girls will have to bring balance and poise to the photos. The photographer is Erik Aeder, who is a reknown photographer in Hawaii.

The girls each seem to do fairly well. Everyone is able to get up on the board, but the winner is Erin. She wins a helicopter ride of the island of Maui, and she gets to pick two friends to take with her. She picks Brittany and Nicole. The girls go up and really enjoy the tour flying over the island, but Erin complains that she really wanted a more tangible prize. What an ingrate!

When they get back, they're asked how it was, and Erin whines again, that while she liked it, but she really would have liked to have won something tangible, like jewelry, or a dinner, or $1,000 gift certificate from WalMart. Sundai can't believe that Erin is acting like that. She says any other one of them would have been thrilled to have won that, and she thinks Erin is a spoiled brat.

Time for some more Tyra Mail!

"Sometimes being all mixed up is a beautiful thing. -- Love, Tyra"
Poor Laura is totally sunburned after their photoshoot surfing, and Jennifer helps her apply more sunscreen. Laura seems worried that she won't do as well in the upcoming photoshoot due to the sunburn.

The next day the girls take the bus to a sugarcane plantation. Sundai says that some of the plants were tall, and some were on fire, and she wonders what they'll have to do now. She thinks it will be something crazy, because they're in Hawaii.

Mr. Jay greets them and says they'll be working with Tyra on their photo shoot. Tyra says that she's never photographed the models twice in a Cycle before, but that these girls really inspire her, so she made an exception. She tells them that the story of the photoshoot revolves around Hawaii having so many people from different cultures, and that the girls will have to portray a bi-racial person in their photoshoot. Their nationalities are as follows:

Laura - Mexican and Greek
Erin - Tibetean and Egyptian
Sundai - Moroccan and Russian
Brittany - Native American and East Indian
Jennifer - Botswanan and Polynesian
Nicole - Malagasi and Japanese
Erin is first, and Tyra thinks she's too posey. Laura has a hard time at first, and Tyra isn't liking it. Laura tells Tyra to be brutally honest, and when Tyra told her she would like to see something similar to what she did in the Vegas shoot, Laura knew what to do, and rocked it. Nicole is next, and she is also doing a great job with her famous poses. Tyra says she doesn't even recognize her. She looks *SO* different with the dark makeup and the dark hair and wrap on her head. Jennifer is next, and Tyra is uninspired. They tell her to think of the Botswanan music, and Jennifer comes alive. Brittany has a bit of a hard time getting into the character, and just seems to stand there looking off to the side. Mr. Jay liked it, but Tyra didn't. Finally Sundai gets her chance to shine. She does a great job, and Tyra mentions the fact that her bone structure truly shows off the Russian side of her nationality.

Time for the box of death
"Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 5 will continue on in the hopes of becoming America's Next Top Model."

And now, prepare to be judged
Tyra greets the girls and recites the prizes, and introduces the judges -- Nigel Barker, Miss J. and supermodel Kirsty Hume.

Jennifer is up first, and Nigel says that the photo reminds him of a National Geographic pose. It's great, but doesn't scream model. Kirsty says the angle of her body isn't the best that it could be, but she looks beautiful. They remark that she is definitely selling the lovely necklace she is wearing, however, which is a good thing.
Laura is next. Nigel says that looking at the shot, he doesn't see Laura, but on the closeup, it's stunning. Kirsty loves it as well.
Erin is next. Miss J says it's interesting. Nigel asks her what she was thinking. She admits that she knows nothing about Tibet, except that people want to "free" it. Tyra says it's the polar opposite of her first shoot with her. She asks Erin what was wrong, and Erin admits she was intimidated, thinking of what Tyra had said before about her not having a personality.
Brittany is next. Nigel says it's very stoic, and not very animated. Kirsty is not impressed. Tyra feels that she was shooting a catalog picture.
Sundai is next. Again, they are saying Sundai seems to always have one angle (a three-quarter shot), but that she has mastered it. Nigel says it's the best he's seen of her. Kirsty says it's a beautiful, but she looks round. Tyra thinks she looks short.
Last is Nicole. Nigel says it's stunning. Tyra thinks she's modeling H-to-T (head to toe), even though you can't see her toes. They're impressed that she didn't lose her neck, even with wearing the very large necklace.
After the judges deliberate, the callouts go as follows:

Nicole
Jennifer
Laura
Sundai
Brittany and Erin are in the bottom two. So, who will go home? Brittany, or Erin, who was in the bottom two last week? It's Brittany who is going home.

Next week, supermodel Marisa Miller gives the girls a class on modeling for petites. Then, while underwater, Laura has some problems breathing and starts hyperventillating.

This week, on America’s Next Top Model, the models headed off to Hawaii for the international destination.  Tyra incorporated the Hawaiian word “Happa” into the photo shoot, which means the mixing of race and culture.  In panel, the judges felt that Brittany’s pose lacked inspiration and inventiveness.  She was eliminated from the competition and, today, spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about her experiences on the show.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to try out for Top Model this season?
A. Brittany: It was actually kind of a fluke that I got on because I had no idea that they were doing a cycle for petite models.  I was in school and one day, I got an email from someone who had seen my website.  I’ve had this website for four years and it was someone from Top Model who said I should come interview with them.  I went to a pre-casting call in San Francisco.  I interviewed with a casting associate.  She liked me and the rest was history!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you fit in with the other girls on the show?
A. Brittany: It was really difficult at first because, throughout  my whole life, I’ve never been the type of girl that’s had a lot of girlfriends.  I had two best girlfriends and that’s pretty much it.  Going into the house, I was terrified because I’ve never been around so much estrogen in my life but it actually went pretty well.  It was like summer camp at first but it was actually pretty fun.  After being around the same people, you get irritated after a while.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you feel to be going to Hawaii? Have you ever been before?
A. Brittany: When we first found out, we were going to Hawaii I was shocked.  Top Model has never traveled within the state.  It’s always the abroad location.  At first, I thought it was bizarre. I thought we were going to go to Asia for sure.  I’ve been to Maui before and I had stayed right where we lived.  I was familiar with the area and I felt comfortable there.  Maui is beautiful so I can’t complain.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you wish that you did travel abroad for Top Model, instead of to Hawaii?
A. Brittany: I love traveling and I love seeing new places and experiencing new cultures.  For my own selfish reasons, it would’ve been great to go to a new country.  Hawaii was a beautiful location, though.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What is it like to have Tyra photograph you?
A. Brittany: The first time, I was really nervous because I had no idea what to expect of her, having her right in front of me, taking pictures in my face.  She was awesome to work with.  She’s really sweet and very energetic.  She wants you to do well.  In Hawaii, it was a great experience with her.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you feel about the Hapa you were given? How did it affect you in your shoot?
A. Brittany: When I was first given that, I thought, “Okay, well what’s my objective and how am I going to achieve that?”  The assignment was okay.  You have these two different cultures you’re portraying and you need to create an editorial shot.  I was given Native American and East Indian.  I’ve always seen portraits of women from these different cultures and they’re poised, elegant, and strong.  I wanted to represent that so for me, the shoot was really exuding that personality instead of worrying about funky poses with the wardrobe.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you feel going into panel?
A. Brittany: I felt really good going into panel.  The shoot went by fast, Jay gave me great critique, and Tyra kept saying that we got the shot.  I had no idea that I would be in the bottom two.  In the photo, I felt like I had accomplished what I set out to achieve.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you feel that you were eliminated too soon in the competition?
A. Brittany: I really do.  I understand some of the things they said.  Still, I was shocked for weeks afterwards.  I had nightmares about being at panel.  I really think it wasn’t my time.  I wish I could’ve stayed on longer.  I feel like I gave a great range throughout the competition and I showed variety.  I would’ve loved to stay on longer!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: With the skills that you have gained on Top Model, do you feel you are a better equipped to book jobs as a petite model?
A. Brittany: It definitely is challenging!  It’s absolutely wonderful what Tyra is doing and how she’s promoting petite models.  Then, you get back to reality and the rest of the world hasn’t changed.  I learned a lot about being personable on the show and how to act.  It’s definitely bizarre to watch yourself on tv.  I’ve gained a lot of insight with the rest of my modeling career.  I feel like this definitely gave me the exposure I need to continue modeling and make connections.
