Amazing Race Africa: "Goldrush"
« on: July 14, 2009, 08:00:16 PM »
This smells of hoax to me....the premise of asking for an undisclosed amount of $$ in order to participate in the treasure hunt seems quite unorthodox, not to mention perhaps extortionist.

But sharing this with a caution:  :ascared

I guess the "Dead Price Left You A Million Dollars on his will" hoax has reached a new level
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

AMAZING RACE COMING TO AFRICA

If you are interested in traversing Africa, hit up www.amazingraceafrica.com for information on the African instalment of the TV reality show Amazing Race.
The show will have 12 African teams made up of two contestants each, coming to a total of 24 players..
The contestants will pass through 14 countries, including major African cities like Nairobi, Cairo, Johannesburg, and Lagos amongst others.
It is not clear if the host will still be American Phil Keoghan. However, the reality show will maintain it’s usual features like road blocks, fast forwards, yields, intersections and detours.
The team that shows the most endurance, strength and wits and makes it across the finish line first, shall take home the grand prize of Sh20 million, and a chance to win 8 million at every city in the treasure hunt, Gold rush segment.

NOTE//:CAREFUL THOUGH, THE REALITY SHOW ORGANISERS HAVE A WEIRD CLAUSE THAT DEMAND FOR CASH. DON’T PAY TO BE ON A REALITY SHOW, THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS.

Not sure if this is nit-picking or legit, but "the capital cities of several African countries" would technically not include Johannesburg and Lagos...

If this is a scam, we can be comforted that mimicry is the best form of flattery!

Well, scams for up-front payment are common out of Nigeria, although this is apparently from Kenya.

puddin, can you clarify is this is for real and legit?

That was a quote from someone posting the same info I got with a same warning, not a quote from puddin. This does not seem legit to me.
