When Amazing Race shows up in their press releases that could only mean good things for our beloved TAR!

I'm expecting 20 seasons and more! :hearts:
a toast with hopes for a silver (25th) season!
 :blaster
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Let us know how it looks mswood. On another note, Nascar will most likely run through 8:00 ET as well this Sunday :groan:
Fox has it going until 10 p.m.

And granted, none of the major awards will be handed out during the first half hour of the Oscars (it starts at 8:30 after that red carpet abortion), but you know people will be on ABC instead of CBS in that first hour.

With both the Oscars and Nascar hitting the east coast (and the Oscars the west) I would expect that this week could be the lowest rated episode of TAR in its history during the regular prime time season.

That was 8.04 in an episode of the third season.

Hopefully, though we wont hit the lows of the summer cycle of TAR 4.

That low (and summer always scores lower) was a 6.93 million viewers.

I hope that we don't sink that low.

Darn Oscars!

Well, at least we'll see an upsurge in the DVR viewings, right?

If TAR managed to keep an average of above 8 million viewers, it might be good news.

The first half hour of the Oscars usually has a long musical introduction and a monologue. With this year's host being Hugh Jackman, there won't be a comedic monologue. He can sing, so there might be a song and dance number. Then one major award is announced, either Best Supporting Actress or Actor. After that, it's a long way to a major award so TAR's ratings might be helped in that respect.

However, with NASCAR going late, that is definitely going to hurt. I do think the Oscars will have a 18 to 20 share in the first half hour. TAR might be lucky to eke out a 6 share.

Last year, I had no interest in the Oscars. This year, I have a bit more interest with The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionaire, but their awards come later.

TAR will be more suspenseful.

Ok, guys and gals this is going to be brutal today just a warning.

Overnights are in and we scored a 4.4/7 now I never pay that much attention to the the overnights (I prefer actual viewer info that comes with Fast nationals and finals).

But to put that into perspective, its the lowest overnight performance I have on record for the show (I have most of that data).

I would guess 6 - 7.5 million.

I'm going to say that's pretty good going up against what ended up to be one of the worst Oscar broadcasts in history and NASCAR. I'm going to say this is a one week blip, mswood.

7.83 million and a 2.6 in adults.

It could have been a lot worse.  I'm not disappointed.

CBS for the nights
60 min  9.15 million  and a 1.7 (hurt a lot more then we were)
TAR 7.83 2.6
Cold Case (R) 6.90 1.7
Unit (R) 5.43 1.2

Two years ago when we aired against the Oscars we did
TAR  8.17 million   2.9

So for two years ago, thats not that big of a drop.

Finishing 3rd in the timeslot after the Oscars abortion and NASCAR? Not bad. I'll post the overnights, mswood.

TV Ratings: Oscars Rebound a Little
Academy Awards telecast improves a bit on last year

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009

Preliminary numbers from Sunday's Academy Awards telecast show that ratings have ticked up a little from last year's historic low, while FOX had some success with NASCAR counter-programming.

ABC averaged a 16.9 rating/26 share in primetime, which is up about 9 percent from last year's fast national number of 15.5/24 (more accurate ratings will be available later in the day). FOX took second for the night at 5.7/9. CBS, 4.6/7, came in third, followed by NBC, 3.3/5, and The CW, 0.9/1.

ABC's adults 18-49 rating also improved over Oscar night last year -- the network scored a 9.5 Sunday, up over 8.4 in 2008. FOX grabbed second in the demographic with a 3.5. CBS, 1.8, edged NBC, 1.6, for third. The CW drew a 0.4.

The annual Barbara Walters Academy Awards special scored a 10.2/16 for ABC at 7 p.m. FOX's coverage of the NASCAR Autoclub 500 and CBS' "60 Minutes" each drew a 5.8/9, with FOX capturing more total viewers. "Dateline" earned a 2.9/5 for NBC. The CW went with "Jericho."

The Oscar red-carpet show, 17.1/26, and the start of the Academy Awards, 21.6/32, dominated at 8 p.m. for ABC. The NASCAR race on FOX delivered a 5.5/8, beating the 4.5/7 for "The Amazing Race" on CBS. "Dateline NBC" improved slightly to 3.1/5, while The CW aired the movie "Tomorrow Never Dies."

ABC scored a 19.6/29 at 9 p.m. as the Oscars continued. FOX's racing coverage finished with a 5.7/8. A "Cold Case" rerun, 4.4/7, kept CBS in third. "Most Outrageous Moments" took fourth for NBC. "Tomorrow Never Dies" concluded with a 1.1/2.

At 10 p.m., the Oscars posted an 18.5/30 (the telecast ran until a few minutes before midnight). "Most Outrageous Moments" earned a 4.2/7 for NBC, beating the 3.6/6 for "The Unit" on CBS.

A 4.5/7 is decent and it shows that TAR has a loyal audience. Those numbers will go up next week.

Since CBS and CTV have signed up to produce two series, perhaps CTV can help co-produce TAR and keep it on the air.
