Peach that percentage is those who used DVR's to watch that same day.  And on this we do exceptionally well.

And that is good.  Those viewers count equally as those who watch the show live (and in fact are including in the final ratings).

And as more viewers go to DVR's for their typical viewing habit studios look for programs that have a high rate of immediate use.  Because the longer it is you take to watch a DVR program the less money the studio gets.  After 3 days the studio get virtually nothing.

The NCAA Tournament ratings have been up 8% overall this season and even with blowouts on Friday, the ratings went up. So, with that in mind, I do expect things to go well for TAR again this week. There may be a slight down tick from last week, but not much. Still enough to win the night for CBS because they won both Friday and Saturday nights thanks to college basketball.

Now in two weeks when we have The Masters, if Tiger Woods is in contention or winning in the final round, watch the ratings for the overrun go up. Plus The Masters has this strange power over CBS that it has to run the Green Jacket ceremony at the Butler Cabin in its entirety. This is the previous year's winner putting on the ceremonial Green Jacket on this year's winner. There will be short Q&A session between Jim Nantz and the winner. For the last three years, the ceremony has run well past 7 p.m. and 60 Minutes has started about 7:20 - 7:30 p.m. I'm giving you the warning in advance.

However, as Peach knows if there's weather issues in Georgia, then Augusta National may start the final round early and if that happens, 60 Minutes could start on time. That's happened once in the last five years.

I forgot about NBC's golf overrun that went until 8 p.m. and Tiger winning. But still not enough to affect CBS' primetime win.

Finals for CBS' Sunday night line-up (courtesy of TravisYanan @ pifeedback.com):

NCAA Basketball (4:55pm, 143 minutes)
- 10.841 million viewers
- 6.8/13 HH
- 3.7/13 A18-49

60 Minutes (7:18pm)
- 14.442 million viewers
- 9.0/15 HH
- 3.4/10 A18-49

The Amazing Race (8:18pm)
- 11.986 million viewers
- 7.1/11 HH
- 3.7/9 A18-49

Cold Case
- 11.856 million viewers
- 7.4/11 HH
- 2.6/6 A18-49

The Unit
- 9.462 million viewers
- 5.9/10 HH
- 2.4/7 A18-49

Not only was TAR the demo winner of the night, but it actually increased out of 60 Min. despite an overrun AND it tied that overrun in the demo.  Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.

...and to think it started out with a 2.6 in the demo.

Can someone provide some insight on how March Madness impacted TAR in years past?

If I were a betting person (and I'm not), I would think CBS would want to build on those numbers and give TAR two cycles. Come on, Nina Tassler! Two cycles next season!
Just here to visit.

Since you brought Tassler up.........

TIFFANY SMITH-ANOA'I NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, DIVERSITY & COMMUNICATIONS, CBS TELEVISION

Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i has been appointed Vice President, Diversity & Communications, CBS Television, expanding her current role in the Communications department and establishing a newly created executive position on the West Coast to build diversity efforts across the Company.

The announcement was made today by Josie Thomas, Senior Vice President, Diversity, CBS Corporation, and Chris Ender, Senior Vice President, Communications, CBS Television.

Smith-Anoa’i will report to and support Thomas on initiatives that foster and celebrate diversity across the company, while continuing to report to Ender for all her ongoing and developing CBS Communications duties.  She will also work with CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler on new and existing programs that recruit, nurture and hire diverse talent to work in front of and behind the camera of CBS programming.  In addition, Smith-Anoa’i will serve as a liaison to multicultural coalition groups and provide outreach to agencies, guilds and other industry organizations that represent diverse talent.

Smith-Anoa’i segues to her new position after nine years in the Company’s Media Relations and Publicity department, most recently serving as Director, Communications.  In addition to publicizing a wide range of entertainment programming, she developed communication strategies for diversity programs and managed the internship and mentoring program for the department.

"Expanding our diversity outreach and promoting a culture of inclusiveness continues to be a top priority at CBS," said Thomas.  "The addition of Tiffany brings another strong voice to our efforts within our company and in the communities we serve, and an energetic, thoughtful and dedicated new executive with the specific mandate to help us grow existing programs and develop new plans that support a multicultural environment in all aspects of Entertainment."

Smith-Anoa’i, who will be based at CBS’s West Coast headquarters at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, Calif., will also continue in her key role with the CBS Communications department, working on entertainment programming while communicating the Company’s diversity activities both internally and externally.

"Tiffany is an incredibly gifted communicator who has already made a significant contribution to the work of our department," said Ender. "Now she will bring those talents to her expanded role as an important member of our diversity effort, where the role of communications could not be more crucial. As she combines her skills as a communicator with her understanding of the entertainment process, I know Tiffany will be a great ambassador for CBS both inside the company and with all our key constituents in the industry."

Prior to joining CBS, Smith-Anoa’i was a vice president for the public relations firm Agnes Huff Communications.  She previously worked at Nike, Inc., helping to launch the NIKETOWN stores in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.

Smith is a graduate of Howard University.  She is also actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Some comparisons.

In comparison to the last season that aired in the Spring (All Stars) we are up (no matter how you slice it) in viewers 10.352 after the end of March Madness to 10.271 (at the end of MArch Madness) or after the 7th episode 10.352 versus 10.081 (for All Stars).  BUt we are down in the 18-49 demo as Sunday's audience grows older each year.

Compared to season 13 we are up in viewers At episode #7 TAR 14 average at 10.352 versus season 13 at 10.209. and they are just marginally ahead of us in the 18-49 demo.

But this is the kicker.  Out of 7 episodes we have benefitted only twice by overruns season 13 had 4 at this time.  They also haven't had anything like the competition we had against the oscars (all Stars is the only other season thats occurred).

So this spring cycle is so far doing far better then how it started.  We shall see how it can hold up in two weeks.  After MArch MAdness 2 years ago TAR dropped down to 8.5 million.  I don't think we will.

Here is a report thats depressing.

CBS: Smaller Shows, Bigger Film Division
UPDATE: You asked, I'll answer. I've just learned that CBS has demanded that each existing TV show -- even the hit ones -- reduce their budgets for next year, if renewed. This may mean smaller writing staffs. Meanwhile, Hollywood has been speculating about the future of the new CBS feature division. I'm told, "All systems go". Not only are there no layoffs, but there are actually additions as the division heads into production. Shooting begins April 7th on its first motion picture, a medical drama starring Harrison Ford. And its second pic, a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, starts principal photography in May

http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/cbs-smaller-shows-bigger-film-division/

There has been reports for many weeks about CBS money problems, they cut back on pilot season (which is good for us), but this is the first report I have seen about them asking for budget cuts across the board in their tv division, but as their stock price is now down to just over $3 I am not surprised.

That kind of sucks for TAR since they have already dealt with some serious cuts between All-Stars and Season 12.

I read this mswood. While CBS' ratings are up, ad revenues are down. Every division is taking a hit. What could help down the line for CBS is the Super Bowl which will raise serious cash for them, but the ad sales for the Big Game won't start until September.

CBS seriously needs help during the upfronts, but projections aren't good right now.
