On Day Two, Preston/Jennifer are in Interlaken by 2.51pm and running to the Pit Stop in daylight, so a late afternoon train ride is unlikely. Teams are driving, if not checked in at Salzburg, at dusk on Day Three, so it doesn't belong there either.

It's the train to Locarno, right? Is Arth-Goldau a fit? (It's a Treni Regionali Ticino Lombardia train, if it helps!)

1609 Zurich to 1646 Arth-Goldau
1650 Arth-Goldau to 1823 Bellinzona
1830 Bellinzona to 1913 Locarno

Might also want to look into Bellinzona, Chiasso or Como S. Giovanni; these serve trains coming in from Milan (though I really don't think TPTB would be that smart) and connecting at 4.52pm.

Question: why are they alone?

v Video doesn't work for me...?

Video doesn't work for me either.....at 2:50 am.

Good call Neobie. They could have missed the train at Zurich Airport or Zurich Main Station. This would have put them a train cycle behind other teams on their flight. In the one vid cap, when the train doors are open, you can see a sign on the building in the background. Maybe someone can do a zoom on it and tell what station it is where they are getting on. They could have missed the connection in Arth-Goldau. It left at 16:50 and the clock says 2 minutes after that.

Aah, getting the train company means Arth-Goldau is not the station we're looking for, it's not on TILO's route! (Oops DrRox, I've edited my previous post while you were typing!)

I've looked at Bellinzona, but TILO trains leave only every half hour, on the hour and on the half-hour. There's an IR train leaving at 4.54pm (arriving Locarno 5.13pm), which beats the TILO S20 train leaving at 5.00pm (arriving Locarno 5.27pm). The vidcaps look like pictures of Bellinzona though, but the signs don't match. Tearing hair out over this one!

Where else could it be? TILO's trains really don't run that many routes, the others go into Italy. Could Apskip be right about Milan? (Trying to decipher the Italian on TILO's website!)

Well its highly unlikely for Switzerland, but could the clock be wrong. Maybe they missed the 16:54 and are getting on the next train, the TILO at 17:00 to go to Locarno. They still could have come from Zurich if this is the case. Maybe thats why they took a pic of the clock, cuz its wrong.

You might be right DrRox, those Swiss and their perfect clocks!

After looking at so many train stations Bellinzona still looks the closest... But can anyone figure out the sign next to the 'C'? I've never seen anything like it!

If we can get the train number as it comes into the station, I think we could figure this one out!

Neobie, of cource Apskip could be right about Milan as one of two arrival points in Europe.

This information has been there in Timelines (doesn't anyone look at them?; if not then I'll stop doing them) for months(note that airport means Milan Malpensa below):

Shuttle bus leaves airport  Arrival in Bellinzona at  Connecting train leaves  Arrival in Locarno
12:30                                           14:20                              14:39                        14:58
14:30                                           16:20                              16:39                        16:58

An alternate train from Bellinzona(not in Timelines) is:
dep. Bellionzona 1630 arr. Locarno 1657

It fits the data better. The one arriving Locarno 1713 clearly does not.

This train station is not Bellinzona, nor anything between Bellinzona and Locarno. According to the SBB Online Timetable, TiLo trains from Bellinzona to Locarno always leave on Track 2. You get a good view of Sector C Track 2 at the end of this video, showing the platform for Tracks 2/3 to be an island platform. Jennifer/Preston are on a side platform, well at least an island platform with a wall. The stations between Bellinzona and Locarno are tiny ones, none long enough for this platform.

And if the clock is right, Preston/Jennifer did not come from Italy. Now the signs behind are Swiss ones, which leaves us the stretch between Chiasso and Bellinzona (map here). The S10 is the only TiLo train running this route, and it does so every half-hour. At the times x:52 and x:22 (give or take 3 minutes), the stations the S10 arrives at are Como (Italy) and Melide (Track 3, which we see here to be on an island platform). So it's none of the stations down that stretch.

Darn it, did I just eliminate everything? :duno: Or are the clock and the train two different clips altogether?

Preston.. really does have a temper. I agree. :groan:
Remember, they are tired, they are hungry and they are running a race, tempers are bound to flare so I really wouldn't judge someone from 1 clip.
Conflict is good. I need a new death stare and I hope Jennifer gives me a new one.

Terrific job apskip, Neobie and walkingpneumonia!!!!!!!!!!

Finally proof that 4 teams had to fly to Milano as apskip predicted so far back. That was one great spec, apskip.

Nice work you guys!  I knew that unexpected time for that team at a train station would lead to something good.

I haven't seen the video yet - but it appears that there is someone taking video from inside the train as Prennifer  :groan: is getting on the train. Is it staged or was there perhaps another team on the train already?

Here's another option for getting to Bellinzona if you land in Malpensa. The MalpensaExpress is a train that runs from the airport to Saronno and the central train station in Milan.

This trip seems to run every hour.

MalpensaExpress dep 12:23 arriv. Saronno 12:43
Saronno dep. 13:04 arriv COMO NORD CAMERLATA 13:32 (short trip between north and south station)
Como S. Giovanni dep 14:07 arriv. Bellinzona 15:21 Total travel time 2:58

Malpensa Express 13:23 arriv. SARONNO   13:43
SARONNO   14:04 arriv. COMO NORD CAMERLATA   14:32 (short trip between north and south station)
Como S. Giovanni   15:07   Bellinzona   16:21 Total travel time 2:58

Doesn't explain Chiasso unless you mess up the transfer between the Como stations...

There are so many possibilities for getting from Milan to Locarno - if I was under race pressure I don't know if I'd be able to choose...
This one takes you through Chiasso.
Porto Garibaldi station is a short walk from the central train station.

Station/Stop
Milano Porta Garibaldi     dep   15:38
Chiasso    arr   16:43   - time matches the station time in the video screencap
Chiasso    dep   17:03
Giubiasco    arr   17:57
Giubiasco    dep   18:04
Locarno    arr   18:27

Judging from the pictures of Cara & Jamie at what appears to be the cheese task, I'm guessing what someone thought was their reaction to barely avoiding elimination might be simply excitement at having finished the task.  So maybe they're higher than ninth or tenth.
