I've been thinking about 'our fence'. It looked a bit battered, and I was wondering, if it was located at the pitstop, or in a similar location, then the fence might be just to catch loose rocks and prevent them from continuing on further down the hill rather than a sports field or something else.

I thought I could see something that looked a bit like our fence between the flagpoles in the background of this picture.

The Alpenhof is open during the summer season from May until October and during the winter season from December until April.

So it's conveniently closed in November....

Good job Puddin, just a thought could they be walking towards the hills behind the hotel to do the cheese haul there is a hill and a couple of buildings like ones in promo in a couple other pictures I found of the building. Just  a thought.
Think more down by the Lauterbrunnen valley (or Wengen), its dotted with farms along the hillsides but darn its fuzzy, or my eyes are fuzzy, lol
I might get my waterfall afterall!

You don't think it would be the bell ringers? Considering they have transported them up from Matten?

We have Taxi's but no taxi company, that I have found , notta match. It must be a distance to take a taxi.

That taxi has me stumped also. I've looked at all the taxi companies listed on the Interlaken tourist information site, and none of them are even close.

They tend to have much smaller signs, and none of them match the colour of the van, or Logo anyway.

From what we can see in the picture below we can see the beginning of a Company name or Logo starting with P, the word Airport, a word in large letters that could be JUNGFRAU, and in smaller letters  EN and TO. Lots of words in German end in en, but it could quite possibly be "Interlaken Tourismus", or "Interlaken Tours"

I don't know how much input WRP could have had in organising enough Taxis to be waiting at the station*, so I've searched the airport shuttles going to both Bern and Zurich airports, and I've also searched various mini-van Tours, and hotel transportation in the Interlaken region. So far, nothing.

*Most Tourist information suggests that the majority of tourist destinations in the area can be reached by either foot or public transport, so it may not be common for 11 taxi's to be hailed from the railway station within such a short period of time, and if they are being used all the way to the pitstop, which seems to be probable if they still have the taxi at the cheese task, then it would be a major disadvantage if the trailing teams had to wait at the station for any length of time just because of a taxi shortage.

ETA (The Stechelberg Taxis aren't a match either)

Love this!

I love it too. It was fabulous in person when I did this very route to get to the Jungfraujoch from Interlaken. The views are spectacular and some of the best stuff is inside the ice.

;D We may not know what taxi company this is, but we now know what kind of vehicle....

it's a VW T5 Multivan

Try using the keyword "kleinbus".... it may help in the search....

Same as Slowhatch's, I'm pretty sure ........
I saw it on GE, it just doesn't look the same to me :duno:
Matten:
  • A small map showing the general area of the commune
  • A large map (4mb pdf, map on page 5) from the city website
As far as the cheese run goes, my leading candidate so far is this patch of ground (no name yet) at the edge of the "Kleiner Rugen" woods; according to GE it has a steep slope.

Well if BOTH of you think it is there, it must be! But I kept thinking that was too close to Interlaken for some reason.

I already spent ages looking for pics there, I kept finding a walk your dog kind of park but no steep slope...

I was going by the time of day from the racer's wristwatch (other shot).  That gave me the sun's direction.  And you can see what way it is to the sun from the chainlink fence poles next to the Cheese bell ringers.  That gives the direction to the mountain range behind them.  Once I finally found the right mountain features I just zoomed back until I hit a hill.  Went that happened I was right over the spot.  The satellite imagery is a little blurry but it gives enough detail to see the roof lines of the houses.  And those match the shot.
