rewatching season 2
« on: December 30, 2008, 08:30:22 PM »
OMG, now I remember why I loved this season, one of the most memorable cast ever! I'm on episode 2 and have cried 4 times
I'd forgot that Blake had lost his wallet and started the begging trend, they were smart to get that gentleman to make them a sign asking for money.

This is still my favorite season of all 13 (and TAR Asia 1).

When I saw this, I thought Blake & Paige were a bit too close for my tastes.

The right team won this edition. And it seemed so many good people were on this race. Blake is now involved with Toms shoes, Alex has been involved with charities as well. Wil has disappeared and that's a good thing.

Tara's flirting in front of Wil was beyond despicable, but Wil's behavior was just plain awful as well.

Plus, going to Phil's home of New Zealand was a lot of fun to watch.

Wil cracks me up and I forgot how funny Gary and Dave were and as far as Blake and Page I think a lot of us had the same creepy hinkies that they were awful close for siblings. I also forgot that Blake was the evil one, most hated by the other teams

I just got done with EP6 and think i'll call it quits for the night .........

and if anyone wants the link message me, the quality sucks but hey its better than nothing  :waves:

Season 2 was pretty damn cool.  But I hate, and I mean hate Wil.  First racer (that we have footage of) who is  mean to other racers, mean to his partner and mean straight up to locals.

BBut we also had Danny & OSwald (who I loved in this season), Blake & Paige (another team I loved), Mary & Peach, I liked Chris & Alex, and hell I even liked Gary & Dave.

I was actually on EP12 and decided to take a break or would have finished it tonight. Funny thing is I'll be onto season 3 soon and I can't for the life of me recall the cast or who won!

Happy New Year mswood :wine:

If S1 was the best pilot ever, S2 would definitely be the best "premiere" season ever.

Season 2 had so many great things.

Of course it s best known as the best race to the mat ever...Oh which it absolutely is (and one of only two places I had any sympathy for Wil during all 13 episodes).  But also had the most visually pleasing opening (as the cars go through the desert, though I do wonder if that was staged later), to teams having their first interactions with airports after 9-11.  This is a season that doesn't have the best locations or best tasks (though it of course does have some wonderful locations and wonderful tasks), it was driven by the racers themselves and the dynamic they had with other teams.

We got Fern (thank you Fern, and all those that followed).  We had Wil losing his clue on the last leg, and their recovery afterwards.  We had the great multiple task roadblock in Australia (loved that).  Loved seeing Tara really step up and take charge and show that she could race with the boys (which was the same with Margarita, who I loved in season 1).  We got the afternoon shopping spree (another absolute classic moment in the shows history).  While I admit to hating Wil, I think the casting on this season was awesome.  Even cannon fodder like the Gutsy Grannies (who were anything but Gutsy), managed to connect with me.  Really if anything the only casting changes I would have made is Hope & Norm and Cyndi and Russell.  Not because I didn't like them (they both seemed like very nice people), but that they seemed like the same team.

Try watching all TARA back-to-back, you won't be able to get the little music theme out of your head in weeks

Danny & Oswald's shopping spree in HK was the coolest. Everyone is stressing out over flights, meanwhile, Cha Cha Cha is going to the mall. It was great stuff. I could not stop laughing over that entire sequence.

I liked them better in season 2 then All Stars, as a matter of fact I have no desire to rewatch All Stars nor any season beyond season 7 (if time maybe season 9), which is my goal.

How could anybody forget season 3?

I would think that Flo's antics in Vietnam would prevent that.

I noted these particularly interesting parts of AR2:

1. The finish is still the most exciting ever in Amazing Race history
2. The lost clue for Wil/Tara that forced them to take huge risks to reach Trapper Creek
3. the Australian slang ROADBLOCK in Sydney
4. Outdoor golf in Coober Pedy

I did not like Itchy & Scratchy at first, but upon watching the season again, they weren't so bad.
