Things you're thankful that didn't happen
« on: December 28, 2008, 12:07:39 AM »
In this thread, we should discuss about events that we're thankful that didn't happen in a TAR season, or things we hope that will never happen, or the worse things that could happen in a season. For example:

The Intersection in Family Edition
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

I'm thankful that Romber didn't win either race.

I loved Jen & Nathan. Her death stares got me through the season.

Yeah, got to love the death stare.  But I loved the episode they got eliminated on.  And I loved the last moment with them as the show closed.  Very personal for the show.

I wish that Ronald and Christina were eliminated earlier, though.  Damn I hated Ron.  I honestly think his behavior to an actual blood relative is the worst in the show's history.

But things that I am glad of, that none of the racers have been hurt overseas,  That no serious accidents ahve ever happened (the truck rolling over is bad enough).

I'm glad that there was never a season where a team won every single leg (although Seasons 9 and 13 came way too close). I'm also glad that every season had at least one unpredictable elimination.

Season 9 was one of the more open ones as far as teams winning went.

Sure BJ and Tyler and Eric and Jeremy Controlled the race, but how many times have we seen Team Old win a leg?

I'd have to say the most open season by far was 4. 10 and 2 are the runners-up.

The least open season is 13, with 9 and 5 as the runners-up.

I'm thankful that The Amazing Race was not cancelled after the premiere episode, and am thankful that Phil Keoghan was cast at the host , can't imagine TAR without him, no way uh uh! Phil is the man!!

Let's analyze the open-ness of Seasons, shall we
Season#1 TeamsBiggest streak2nd Biggest streakTop of the Pack
01553*Top 3
0273**2One Hit Wonders
03543*Top 3
04942**One Hit Wonders
05464Top 2
0654*2Top 2
07643Top 2
0853*2*Balanced
09454Top 2
10642**Alpha-team
11643*Top 3
1253**1*Top 3
13373Alpha-team
* 2 teams tied for the record
** 3 teams tied for the record

Top of the Pack:
Alpha-Team: The whole race was mostly dominated by one team (not necessarily the winners)
Top 2/3: The race for first place was dominated mostly by 2/3 teams
Balanced: There was no obvious leader
One Hit Wonders: Too many teams came in first (mostly thanks to the FF) and there was no obvious leader

cfde88, I haven't seen your definitions for "Alpha Team" and "Top 3", but using my definitions of those I would put  Rob/Brennan in AR1 into the Alpha team category. I would also like to see your definitions of One Hit Wonders.

I think I mislabled my table. I'll correct it to include my definitions.

Season 3 - Flo and Zach getting eliminated on the 2nd NEL at Final 5. Or else the season would have been boring and unpredictable. LMAO.

Season 6 - Jonathan and Victoria in the F3. T_T

Season 7 - Romber winning.

Season 8 - Weavers winning. :yess:

Eric & Jeremy winning. That would have been too bad.

BJ and Tyler winning was the worst thing to happen to TAR.

Eric and Jeremy were clearly the better team.

I disagree. Eric & Jeremy were very annoying. Did we need to hear, "We're recovering drug addicts," every passing moment? I'm glad they lost. I liked BJ & Tyler.

Weren't Tyler & James the drug addicts?

You could be right about that. I'm mixing up seasons. But Eric & Jeremy were still annoying in my book.

Don't get me wrong, they don't make my All Stars, but they were my favourite team from Season 9.

TAR 9 was boring thanks to the 2 alpha all-male teams. Fran and Barry's surprise Oman win and the three-way footrace to the pitstop were the only exciting moments on the race. Although the moment Danielle and Dani getting Yielded wasn't too bad as well.

I hated Lake and Michelle after that.

They weren't second last, they were well clear of Ray and Yolanda (as evidenced by Double D's yield expiring before Ray and Yo got there.) They didn't need to use the Yield.
