Whats a good backpacker destination in Russia? Seems to be the theme of things. Even Guilin! I did some research and didn't know it was a so called backpacker friendly place.
My son has been backpacking in China, SE Asia and India since June, and visited many TAR13 locations (we have a picture of him with red paint). He'll be traveling through Kazakhstan (and 3 other 'stans), plus Russia in 2009. The cities listed on his Russia visa application were Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny, Novgorod, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

We're saving TAR13 so he can watch it when he's finally back home. He was going to watch for TAR14 participants, but since he was bicycling around the coast of India during the applicable time period, their paths did not cross.

Beginning at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base near Long Beach, Calif., the Emmy-winning CBS reality competition (premiering Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. EST) will follow the teams for 12 episodes as they travel over 40,000 miles in 22 days to nine countries, including - for the first time - Romania as well as Switzerland, India and Russia.

"We shot in the city of Krasnoyarsk and the city of Novosibirsk," said "Amazing Race" executive producer Bertram van Munster. "The teams get from one city to another via the Trans-Siberian Railroad. Of course, it started off nice, but we got into this Siberian snowstorm with below-zero temperatures, which we weren't used to. It was pretty exciting."

The Ap article seems to be the only source at the moment for the 12 episode information. (Although the AP article at Yahoo also has that information. Yahoo's AP article on TAR 14 cast.

I'm looking for confirmation from any other media source.

India's fine with me, and two cities in Siberia coupled with the TransSiberian Railway and a snowstorm? And the European legs, Thailand, and China.  I can't wait!

In the post below. For each episode, there is an air date, which is missing the 22nd.

I should mention that air dates/film dates are not completely solid -- others might have more insight on this. I might have missed something here and there as well -- this is just an attempt to consolidate the reliable info in the bajillions of posts we have.

Apskip also got muddled with this. I think it was 11 episodes in the end wasn't it puddin and he had some idea of 12 teams which isn't quite true!

Thanks, kiwi, but apskip did not get muddled. The 12 episodes comes from an aritcle on World Race Productions. Would van Munster lie about something like that that affects the schedule and TV time slots for the entire race? He has lied about other thingsm, but I cannot imagine him doing so on this subject.

It may not be apparent whether there isn't a second pit stop in Switzerland or whether there is one in Germany, but I think it's likely that something materializes to make it 12 episodes. The futoncritic is in my opinion wrong.

In my humble opinion (not being knowledgeable about these websites or their reliability) I would just guess that this is just another 11 episode season and that maybe both sites made some kind of mistakes. I really wish it were 12 though, but I'm not going to make a firm conclusion yet.

Would BVM lie? No! Would BVM get it muddled? Oh yeah baby...

Remember when Burkina Faso was "two countries in Africa"??

BVM has done it before and will do it again. all schedules and points "point" to 11 legs and I would be surprised if with purse strings tightening that they would do another leg  :duno: I agree with....almost everyone else that 11 legs will be correct!

Although that really makes it a not-so-amazing race! :'(

But I'm still excited about it!  :wohoo:

Same here.  Remember all those sources of Antarctica in TAR11.  Maybe it was just one source... Did BVM say that, or was it USA today?
