I'm looking on the bright side though because this way I don't have to know who will be eliminated every leg like last season!

But it is going to be a dull two months if nobody finds any new info!

I have focused my AR14 thinking on where it is logical for teams if they go to Russia for leg 5 to travel to for leg 6. Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran are all out for obvious reasons. Israel and Pakistan are out because the risk is too high. I think the capitals between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea are possibilities:

Tblisi, Georgia
Yerevan, Armenia
Baku, Azerbaijan

Next would be major cities in the "stans":
Ashkabad, Turkenistan
Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Astana, Kazakhstan
Dushanbe, Tajikistan

The Gulf States (Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain) have an outside chance, but they(particualrly Dubai) have been used a lot in recent Amazing Races.

Of that above list, I like Samarkand and Tashkent the best. They have functioned as crossroads for millenia.

My next attention has been to the leg between Phuket and Guilin. There was a whisper about Shanghai for this and that is quite possible. I would normally expect that the place between Phuket and Guilin will be geographically in between. What major cities meet those criteria?

Starting in Thailand, although Bangkok has been used extensively by Amazing Race Asia, it has not been overused in my judgement by Amazing Races. Chiang Mai is also used but not overused. In Vietnam, there has been use of Hanoi and Saigon, so I do not think we will see them in AR14. Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Vientiane, Laos are top prospects due to never have been in an Amazing Race; they are overdue. Kathmandu has an outside chance. In southern China, Guangzhou, Kunming, Chengdu and Chongqing are all possiblities.

Looking at the major prospects, I like Vientiane or Phnom Penh the best.

Both Georgia and Uzbekistan remain on the State Dept warning list, so I would think those might be unlikely.

While it is NOT clear what race this belongs to (TAR 14 {dates may fit nicely}, TAR Israel {dates cannot be excluded}, or Pekin Express {in Thailand on 11/22}), we can't entirely rule this out yet for TAR 14, I don't think.

To clarify, in the US version, Dubai hasn't been used since TAR5, not including connections. Bahrain & Abu Dhabi haven't been visited at all. Another Middle East possibility is Qatar.

I think we can eliminate Kazakhstan from the list. While I did enjoy their vist there, I wouldn't think they would want to re-use a "new country" so quickly. Since they like to feature places that are less known to the modern world, Tajikistan and Turkenistan would be at the top of my list.
