Found this from a blog...not sure exactly WHERE or WHEN, but it was posted on Nov 26th..

About that filming crew, well two braided pigtailed twins in backpacks ran by us as a film crew chased them —we were watching the Amazing Race!! We figured it was the German television version.
Already posted Michael, in the Israel thread.

I dont want to sound off, but when i look at the girl in Orange she just looks deaf to me idk why.

But many deaf people dont wear hearing aids [Marlee Matlin doesnt wear any, Christie on Survivor Didnt].  Also she didnt say how deaf the girls was, she could just be deaf in one ear.
What the hell? How does someone look deaf? *groan*

Wow, team spoilers are great! It's hard to communicate team information with the locals here...

With the help of Peach, managed to find the office of the Phuket Gazette editorial team. They've been really happy to help (thanks guys!), but what they know, they've already put in the story. Chief editor Nick Davies was the one who spotted the teams at Rama IX Park. He tried talking to some of the production crew, but they refused to tell him anything.

What he can tell us though, is that this happened in the early afternoon.

Thanks to Mr Stephen Fein, Mr Nick Davies and the entire Phuket Gazette editorial team. You've been too kind to entertain us!

(One last part on Phuket coming up the next couple of days...)

Alvin06, I suggest you read the AR14 Timelines, Timetables and Flight Information thread, looking for the latest timetable. There is a listing for each day of Oct. 31 to Nov. 22. It has not been transcribed onto any map by anyone yet, but feel free to do that.

Could we take another look at this one, currently over in TAR Israel?

Sukhothai, Thailand Novemeber 18th

"We ran into The Amazing Race Asia 4 and gave these 2 racers a lift"

I'm wondering if this couldn't be TAR 14 after all?

From apskip's Timeline:

AR14 Timeline(revised 11/26):
Nov. 14 leg 8 leave unknown location #3 to arrive Bangkok the next morning
Nov. 15 fly Bangkok to Phuket apparently on TG203 0740 0850, then tasks in Phuket area
Nov. 16 leg 9 fly from Phuket to ?
Nov. 18 leg 10 fly from ? to Guilin
Nov. 20 leg 11 Guilin to Beijing, then tasks in Beijing and start pitstop

Phuket to Sokhothai by 11/18 is certainly possible. And at this early stage it would be easy for us to be off by one day so this could possibly be a task>>Pitstop day OR a release from Pitstop day heading to Guilin.

Just thinking....

It could be peach but we'll wait and see if we could get from Phuket to Guilin and still do tasks in Guilin on the 18th, then of course the photographers photo data might be off as we have learned in the past  .

Sorry Peach, I think they decided not to follow up with the story - and that's all they have! :duno:

Alright one last bit from the streets of Phuket:

Met a group of elderly gentlemen in Rama IX Park who spoke Cantonese, and they told me that something had been going on along Thanon Thalang, in the historic core of town. And... that happens to be exactly where my hotel is!

So for two days I've been walking up and down the streets in the district, drawing pictures of boxes and envelopes... You get the picture! And yes, apart from the "sightings" of a certain Leonardo DiCaprio filming The Beach a couple of years back, there's TAR news!

At about 1-3pm on 15 November, various shopkeepers in the district saw farangs pulling rickshaws around the street. A shop on the western end of Th Thalang suggested that they might have started on Soi Romani (a little alley running off the north side of the street). However, shops on the alley know nothing about TAR filming, instead pointing me to another production there on the 27th. A traffic warden I talked to on Th Krabi told me about Wat Phuttha Mongkhon Nimit on the north end of Soi Romani (followed by communication breakdown), so I'm not sure if he was talking about TAR or rickshaws in general. No rickshaws when I went to the temple though.

Other sightings, that when plotted on a map, give a good sense of where teams would have gone:
East along Th Dibuk, between Soi Romani and Th Phuket
South along Th Phuket, between Th Dibuk and Th Thalang
West along Th Thalang, between Th Phuket and Th Yaowarat

The sightings then disappear. I'm really not sure how they made their way to Rama IX Park from there. Two shops also suggested the Thai-Chinese Museum on the north side of Th Krabi as a *Thai lost in translation*, but I didn't understand the significance. Staff there genuinely didn't seem to know much.

Somewhere in one of these conversations there was a mention of a woman pulling a man; but the man was "holding a camera", so I'm not sure what that means. There was also mention of a police escort going in front of the teams, about two or three motorcycles.

There remains one single hotspot that I have yet to talk about. Everyone within a 50m radius pointed me to a Chinese herbal shop on the south side of Th Thalang, touting itself to be the "Oldest Herbal Shop in Phuket". Another communication breakdown there (real or feigned), but there's one thing that made me very sure that TAR was here.

Coming right up with photos! Need to find an internet cafe with the necessary hardware...

Realized I just spent my single day in Bangkok surfing RFF.

We await with bated breath on those Photos, and as soon as somebody ID's the places, we can look at potential tasks in those places.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures Neobie and how exciting for you and us!  :jumpy:
Your pretty amazing Neobie! :hearts:

peach, looking at the photo takers album,  it looks like he was at Phitsanulok early that same day. Just an FYI.

Sukhothai Province

The Sukhothai Historical Park Approximately 427 kilometres (270 miles) north of Bangkok and 330 kilometres (200 miles) south of Chiengmai. The most convenient route is via Phitsanulok, which can be reached either by plane or train direct from Bangkok or Chiengmai. Alternatively, one may travel by bus all the way from Bangkok or Chiengmai to Tak which is 68 kilometres (42 miles) to Old Sukhothai (and a further 12 kilometres or 8 miles east to New Sukhothai).

Thanks to some googling, I think I can shed some light on alleged herbal shop.

*The oldest Chinese herbal medicine shop in Phuket is on 16 Thalang Road. They specialize in combining western and eastern cures, and are also suppliers to Phuket’s health spas.
http://www.lestariheritage.net/phuket/webpages/tha01.html

Breathe in the heady aromatic aroma of Chinese herbs at Nguan Choon Tong, the city’s oldest herbal shop.

I think Nguan Choon Tong may be the name of our herbal shop.

Found a viddy as well that has a few shots of the inside of the shop, no definitive look at the outside though.

Photos of the shop are mixed in with a bunch of other stuff on the same street.

Alright, here are some of the photos! Coutzy good job! The shop is Nguan Choon Tong (Yuen Chun Tong) read in Cantonese. And guess what was hanging around in the shop? :snicker:

Also attached is a photo of the entire length of Soi Romani, and a random poster I took last night in Bangkok.  ;)

Hmmm... if they indeed did go there, I'm sensing a task similar to the herbal tea detour in TAR2 that Mary and Peach seemed to have a heap of trouble with.

It's REALLY caught my interest now and I'm sure Puddin Pie will be proud of you when she wakes up tomorrow!

is there a possibility that the 2 guys spotted in Sukothai are the father/son team? the girl in the poster looks like Paula from TARA2's Paula/Natasha ^^

I don't think so because the guy running away from the photographer looks like hes holding a camera, which would mean he isn't part of a team.

ah yes, I see it now.

Do we have a confirmed team in red yet?

The hair of the visible person strikes me as a semi-older woman's (late 30's early 40's) type haircut, but maybe the headband just makes it look like that.

Neobie!! How wonderful!! Our hero! :<3    :luvu:

Instead of living  it up on the beaches of Phuket, there he is scrounging around in herb shops on our behalf. We owe you Neobie!! But you loved it, right?

Nice overnight research Coutzy!

Here is a closer shot of the Sukhothai team, also from the TARI thread...

Here is a very good map of Phuket, so we can follow Neobie along...

http://www.thaiwaysmagazine.com/phuket_map/phuket_map_town.html

And before I knew Neobie was goig to be our man on the ground and could find all this in person, I had written to the newspaper myself. Here is the answer I just received with one tidbit of new info: (bolds mine)

Quote
I'm afraid we have no other information. The production crew would not
reveal anything.

The reporter followed the couple pictured until they arrived at their
destination, where it seemed as if the other contestants had already
arrived and moved on to their next tasks
.
