America's Next Top Model Cycle 11
« on: June 24, 2008, 07:25:53 PM »
It seems that they have been filming Cycle 11 for the Fall season, if reports are true, filming should be finished with a new Top Model already selected.

Quote
"This fall, America’s Next Top Model will unveil its 11th season on the CW network. It may be one of the last seasons to feature Tyra Banks as the host of the wildly popular reality show. Back in March, OK magazine reported that Banks was thinking of leaving the show, due in part to a rift between her and Jay Manuel. “It’s gotten so bad that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told the magazine. While Tyra figures out her future, the show must go on and cycle 11 is well underway. This week, thanks to superfans and superspies, the international destination was revealed along with some other juicy tidbits!

** WARNING!  SPOILERS AHEAD! **

A Top Model fan came across judge Paulina Porizkova while waiting in line at JFK International Airport in New York City. It turns out that she was waiting to board KLM, a Dutch airline company. This comes on the heels of photos that surfaced on the internet of Tyra Banks and the final 5 cycle 11 models in Amsterdam. Security for America’s Next Top Model did their best to stop fans and press from taking pictures but a few lucky ones snapped a photo and put them online.

This is a departure from the usual number of models that head on the international destination. Tyra usually brings along the final 6 but the fact that she is only bringing 5 suggests a possible double elimination. According to several Top Model blogs, international go-sees will also make a return for cycle 11.

It is also being reported that, while Amsterdam, the final 5 models will participate in a photo shoot with pieces from renowned jewelry designer, Rodrigo Otazu. Otazu has worked with the best of the best in the fashion and entertainment world. He has provided pieces for runway shows for everyone from Christian Lacroix to Jean-Paul Gaultier. He has also had his jewelry worn by celebrities such as Britney Spears and Aretha Franklin."

America' s Next top Model Comes to the Netherlands

"Yes, you have read it well! Tyra Banks and its team of America's Next top model come to the Netherlands. The last can five candidates of the eleventh season on travel to Amsterdam. They here well-known go-see's must carry out and also fotoshoot to do. I gamble in oer-Hollandse attire, nicely sexy. In Amsterdam two little girls the strijdtoneel must leave, so that there eventually three candidates remain for the final.

America's Next top model go this autumn again the eleventh season in. Just like in the Dutch version there is an excursion to the foreign country in each range. In the tenth season the bests could modellenmeisjes with the plane to Rome, now has been there therefore chosen for the Dutch capital.

It have been aroused curiosity with what kind of security requirements Tyra zoal on shove comes and to what extent the team can operate here ongestoord. In America is it not uncommon at the municipality regulate a license with which you or tv-opnames can bolt an area for films. But in the Netherlands happens that only at high exception, a royal wedding or burial for example. On the other hand Next top model must be reality programme, thus it is this way honest veryday film living.

The prerecordings take place coming summer, retransmission in America follows in the autumn. In the Netherlands America's Next top model are transmitted RTL 5. Of it we have exactly the eighth season behind the back. It lasts therefore certainly still a year for we Tyra in the Netherlands on TV can admire.

Update 11 June: Prerecordings have been today and possibly also still the coming days. One of the tasks shoot with jewels of Rodrigo Otazu concern.

For the international readers:
America's Next top model cycle 11 will come to Amsterdam. The charge 5 candidates will be complete for go-see's and some photoshoots. Apparently one episode are filmed on Tuesday June 11th. The shoot will contain accessories by Rodrigo Otazu, WHO lives in Amsterdam. Pictures complete!"

Episode 4 a recap

Tonight's episode of America's Next Top Model was the ever popular makeover episode.  Things got started when the girls found Tyra Banks sitting in their living room, dressed as a princess.  She told the girls a story of when she was a young model.  Someone in the industry told her and her mother that she should lose 15 pounds and Tyra's mom said, "Screw that.  Let's get a pizza!"  Instead of going down the high fashion route, Tyra took a different road and became a superstar thanks to Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated.  Don't ask what this story had to do with makeovers, but after Miss Jay came out dressed like a witch and Mr. Jay, dressed as Prince Couture saved her, the girls found out they were getting new looks.  Only Tyra could deliver that news in such a weird way.

For the most part, the makeovers were pretty tame and not very dramatic at all.  Isis received longer hair as did Brittany.  Lauren Brie just lightened her look, while Marjorie darkened it.  Clark and McKey went jet black and Sheena received lighter highlights.  The most dramatic change went to Elina, who received red, curly hair.  She broke down crying, saying that she didn't even recognize herself when she looked in the mirror.  Tears also flowed from Samantha's eyes, when her ponytail was chopped off and she was given a cropped, blonde 'do.

Elina and Brittany have managed to stay out of the drama in the house, until tonight, when they went head to head against each other.  When Brittany expressed how much she missed and loved her mom, Elina casually mentioned that she hated hers.  Joslyn teamed up with Brittany, confused as to why anyone would say such a thing about their mom.  Elina admitted that she saw and talked to her mother all the time and that her mother took care of her.  The girls said that Elina was just using her mother, a comment that upset her and made her feel uncomfortable with the conversation.

Tonight's photo competition took place at a beautiful beach, and the girls changed into swimsuits for their shots.  With new looks and newfound confidence, several girls stepped up their game and turned out great shots like Lauren Brie, Elina, Marjorie, Sheena, and Samantha.  Brittany landed in the bottom along with Analeigh.  Brittany was there for being just a pretty face, who was unable to connect with the camera.  Analeigh is there because, as a skater, they expected that she would be ahead of the game and has yet to really deliver.

Brittany was eliminated.

America's Next Top Model a blurb in tv guide:

Tyra's Back on Top

Cheers to America's Next Top Model for looking good again. Tyra Banks' reality staple had seemingly reached the end of its creative runway, but the 11th cycle has proven surprisingly fierce. Casting the transgendered Isis could've been a stunt, but she's an intriguing competitor, and the impressively diverse field ranges from a wide-eyed but small-minded Alaskan (Hannah) to a tattooed, sexually ambiguous Angelina Jolie lookalike (Elina). With Project Runway stuck in a season-long malaise — hello, Suede? — it's good to see Tyra and Co. are back in fashion.

An interesting article:

'Top Model' reject Brittany Rubalcaba voices regret and remorse

Despite being the third girl eliminated from America's Next Top Model's eleventh season, Brittany Rubalcaba, managed to be involved in several memorable moments during her brief time as a contestant on the show.

However, during a conference call with reporters on Thursday, the 19-year-old customer service representative and student from Henderson, NV took some time to clear the air, apologize, and address some misunderstandings regarding her actions on Top Model.

"The situation with Hannah, I think honestly, was blown out of proportion. I never said Hannah was racist, that's one thing I never did say," Brittany told Reality TV World regarding her confrontation with the 19-year-old Alaskan during the show's second episode.

In addition, Britney also stated that despite the way the incident was presented on the show, she and some of the other girls didn't decide to collectively confront Harrah with their concerns that she may be prejudiced.

"It all came around and it ended up looking like we were ganging up, or that it was approached in that manner," she told Reality TV World. "Unfortunately it wasn't really like that."

Britney also showed remorse and regret for her argument with Elina in which she challenged the 19-year-old Ukrainian native's statement that she "hates" her mother and trashed her during a subsequent confessional interview.

"With Elina. Yeah, I apologize for the wording I used. If I could take back what I said in regard to calling her the 'evil B-word,' I apologized to her about that and we've talked about it and her and I are actually on good terms," she told Reality TV World. "But yeah I am apologetic and kind of embarrassed for my family, and my loved ones and everyone else who watched it because I shouldn't have said that."

Brittany also said that she has stayed in touch with Isis, and told Reality TV World that she never had any issue with her transgender status.

"My initial reaction, I was surprised because looking at Isis I would've never guessed that," she told Reality TV World. "But I think that early on I had a very good understanding in knowing that this was a competition, and whether you're transgendered or not, you're still a competitor... that's exactly what she is, she's a fair competitor... and she's a very good person."

Britney -- who described herself as "very young, very open and very willing to jump into [modeling]" -- told reporters that she was frustrated when constant descriptions of her being "pretty" eventually lead to her exit from the competition. While added that she had carried that label for much of her life, she added that it was a "double-edged sword" in the world of modeling.

"I felt like I got that stigma about me, and it kind of stuck," she told reporters. "Everything was 'Oh that's pretty' and 'You're so pretty' and its like, 'We don't want pretty.' So I was trying to break out of that mold and I couldn't find it, so it was just frustrating and I found myself continuously stuck in that kind of thing where 'Yeah, it's a pretty photo.'  But I don't want a pretty photo I want a fierce photo!"

After being told by America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks to study European fashion magazines following her elimination, Brittany told reporters that she had heeded the advice and added them to her busy schedule, which currently includes working and attending school.

"It is helping. I'm practicing my poses. I'm practicing my looks, more than I should be," she said with a laugh.

Brittany also said that the competition -- and her elimination from it -- had taught many lessons about the modeling industry, including the importance refocusing expectations and adjusting accordingly in order to succeed.

"I saw myself as being more than just a pretty commercial face And from what I've taken from the judges and learned from Mr. Jay [Manuel], Jay "Miss J." Alexander and Tyra, there isn't anything wrong with that. It's just that maybe I didn't have the face for high fashion.

Brittany said she still plans to pursue a modeling career, albeit perhaps not in the initial field she had been interested in.

"I can take my modeling career down a different path, in not necessarily high fashion but maybe catalogs," she told reporters. "Maybe catalogs will be my thing."

An interesting article on Episode 5:

Let's hope that, starting tonight, on America's Next Top Model, the girls find something else to talk about besides Isis.  It's only the fifth episode and already, I've heard every ignorant comment there is about her.  Perhaps if some of them would focus more on modeling than gossiping, they wouldn't find themselves close to the bottom each week.  Tonight, the girls get their first opportunity to walk the runway, but they'll have to do it blindfolded.  When they do their photo shoot, they'll have to pose with their eyes.  What this has to do with anything, I don't know, but I'm hoping that a model falls or crashes into someone.  With fingers crossed, I'll be here for the entire hour updating live.  Keep refreshing and post your thoughts, too!

Hannah is so rude.  There must not be people in Alaska because she certainly doesn't know how to talk to them.  She told Analeigh and Marjorie to "stop the pity party" after they said they were worried about getting eliminated.

Miss J. is having the girls walk in high heeled bowling shoes back and forth on a bowling alley.  I don't think any of the models I saw at Fashion Week walk like this.  Their walks are pretty dreadful.

Oh, here comes the Isis comments.  Clark wants her to go home and some of the girls are making fun of her.  Get a hobby, Clark.

Runway challenge!  Tonight's designer is Jeremy Scott and the girls are excited but there's a twist - they'll be blindfolded.  The winner gets a photo shoot modeling Kira Plastenina for Seventeen magazine and can bring two friends.  Always a tough choice.  Also, someone's getting eliminated right after this!  Pressure!

Okay, did anyone else laugh at Samantha's freakout over someone getting eliminated?  I kept freezing it on her face and laughing.  I literally did it like 4 times.

Oh no!  Samantha lifted up her dress on the runway even after Jeremy told her not to.

Challenge winner: Joslyn.  NICE!  She deserves it.  Eliminated: Hannah.  Her walk wasn't strong enough.

Mr. Jay wakes up the girls at the crack of dawn.  The shoot is happening right at the house.  Easy, right?  Today, they're only shooting the from the nose up and focusing on the eyes.  I actually think this shoot sounds cool and it will be interesting to see who performs well.  Tonight, my fingers are crossed for Analeigh.  I don't want to see her in the bottom again!

I don't want to see that Tyra Mail picture again.  Just a thought...

Pictures I like at panel: Sheena, Lauren Brie (look out for her!), Clark, and Samantha

Pictures I don't like at panel: Joslyn, Marjorie, Isis, McKey, Elina, and Analeigh (dammit).

The winner of tonight's photo challenge is Clark.  Her picture is displayed as digital art in the house (otherwise known as the worst prize ever).  After that the names that are called are: Analeigh, Lauren Brie, Sheena, McKey, Marjorie, Joslyn, and Elina.  Samantha and Isis are left in the bottom and I'm worried for Isis.  Big time.

Yup, Isis is going home.

OXYGEN MEDIA ACQUIRES EXCLUSIVE CABLE RIGHTS TO "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL"

Released by Oxygen

Network Acquires Full Library - Including Current and Future Cycles - of Groundbreaking Reality Competition Series Created and Hosted By Supermodel Tyra Banks

New York - September 25, 2008 - Oxygen has acquired the exclusive cable rights to the groundbreaking reality competition series "America's Next Top Model." The announcement was made today by Jason Klarman, General Manager, Oxygen Media. The network will bring viewers all the "Top Model" fashion challenges, photo shoots and model mayhem as the full library of the hit series joins Oxygen in January, 2009. In an agreement with CBS Television Distribution, Oxygen will retain exclusive cable rights to all episodes including the 11th cycle currently airing on the CW, the show's 12th cycle now in production and repeat airings of any future cycles beyond.

Created and hosted by world-renowned supermodel Tyra Banks, "America's Next Top Model" premiered in 2003 and became a phenomenal television success, especially among young women - "Generation O," Oxygen's target audience. For the last full cycle of the show on the CW (2/20/08-5/14/08), the median viewer age was 32, and for the first three episodes this season (9/3/08-9/17/08) on the CW, the show's median viewer age is 31.9. The "Top Model" genre of programming and the show's personalities have already proven successful on Oxygen, with "The Tyra Banks Show" airing daily on the network and former "Top Model" judge Janice Dickinson's series "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" now in its fourth season.

"'America's Next Top Model' is a perfect complement to Oxygen's programming strategy, delivering fun and entertaining shows for women who like to 'Live Out Loud,'" said Klarman. " It's got all the right ingredients - a lot of fashion, plenty of beauty and a ton of drama. It really hits the bullseye with Generation O."

"The acquisition of this franchise will be a great fit for Oxygen's slate of original programming and introduce the show to an untapped demographically desirable cable audience," said Scott Koondel, Executive Vice President of Off-Network, Cable and Interactive Media for CBS Television Distribution.

"America's Next Top Model," currently airing its 11th cycle on the CW, has 14 beautiful participants living together and competing for the ultimate prize - being named "America's Next Top Model." The participants' abilities are tested each week as they strive to master the runway and fashion photo shoots, perfect publicity skills and learn the business aspects of becoming a supermodel, all under 24-hour-a-day surveillance of the "America's Next Top Model" cameras.

I love this show but I'm noticing less input from Tyra or so it seems to me and it just doesn't seem the same. I hope we see her interacting more, it just doesn't seem quite the same this season.
The choices we make dictate the life we lead.

An article for Episode 6:

On tonight's episode of America's Next Top Model, the girls were faced with a challenge by Paulina Porizkova.  She informs them that, once the show is over, a bulk of their work will be in catalogs - if they're lucky.  Sometimes, clothes don't fit right or flatter the body so the girls were given tools to make their looks work for them.  The winner received 50 extra frames in tonight's photo shoot and McKey ends up doing the best job, impressing Paulina.  Back at the house, the girls confront Marjorie over her negative attitude and tonight's photo shoot revolves around natural disasters.

Marjorie Is Her Own Worst Enemy

Marjorie is French and apparently, that makes her a negative person. She doesn’t believe in herself, she thinks she’s the weakest person in the competition, and she won’t stop beating herself up. During tonight’s challenge, in which the girls had to take clothes that didn’t fit and make them work, she looked so worried that Paulina was worried she was going to throw up. At her photo shoot, she needed to be spoon fed every piece of direction by Mr. Jay and broke down crying afterwards. There wasn’t a model within a 5 block radius who wanted to listen to her complain and Marjorie has seriously alienated herself this season.

These Models Are A Disaster!

For tonight’s photo shoot, the girls had to pose on a set made of small buildings and tiny cars. Each girl was assigned a natural disaster and had to play the part, while still selling their garment. One by one, they took the set portraying earthquakes, tidal waves, heat waves, and traffic jams (which isn’t a natural disaster at all). McKey was given 50 extra frames but she didn’t even need them, turning out a stellar performance from the get go. Unfortunately, that didn’t translate too well in panel and the judges seemed underwhelmed by her photo, even though Mr. Jay praised her to the heavens.

Personality Does Count For Something

This week, Joslyn and Clark land in the bottom two.  Joslyn started this competition as a strong competitor but has taken poor photos in recent times.  Clark alternates between taking great pictures and bad pictures, which just makes her a mediocre talent.  With two girls neck and neck, Tyra decides to keep the model with the better personality and, in her opinion, that's Joslyn.  Clark is sent home in a tearful elimination, but says that this has been the greatest experience of her life.

Episode 7

"The Fiercee Awards"

TYRA GOES ONE-ON-ONE WITH THE GIRLS FOR A PHOTO SHOOT

Tyra surprises the remaining girls with a one-on-one photo shoot to teach each girl how to find their most flattering pose. Back in the house, some girls question whether or not they have the look and drive to continue in the competition. This week's photo challenge takes the girls to Los Angeles' famous Orpheum Theatre, where they show off their best backstage award show snafu pose. The ladies do their best to replicate being caught in the restroom as well as revealing raw emotions during a phony acceptance speech.

An interview with Clark:

Love her or hate her, you never had to wonder what America's Next Top Model cycle 11 contestant Clark was thinking this season.  This outspoken model refused to play the friend card, keeping her focus just on the competition.  She didn't help others with their poses or runway walks.  Clark just worried about herself.  She was one of the biggest protesters when it came to Isis joining the competition for cycle 11.  She was eliminated on last night's episode after Tyra saw a dramatic drop in her performance from one week to the next.  Feeling that she was incapable of being consistent, she was sent home.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview and didn't hold back when it came time to speak her mind!

Hey everybody, this is Gina from BuddyTV and today, I’m talking to Clark from America’s Next Top Model. Well, can you tell me when your dream of becoming a model first started? Is this something that you wanted to do since you were little?

Absolutely, I can’t even come up with a certain day or time that I decided that wanted to do. I always knew that I wanted to do it. It’s always been my aspiration, it’s probably one of the first things that I can remember.

Is this your first time trying out for Top Model?

Yeah, actually, I know Joslyn tried out for it like, 30 times.  Whenever I heard that, I thought that was the funniest thing.  I tried out for it, not really expecting to go full force.  I was just kind of bored one night and trying to procrastinate doing my homework.  The application is like, 30 pages long.  That's pretty much procrastination for me.  I filled that out, sent it in, made a little video the next day, sent that in, and got called back.

What did you think when you had to dye your hair to ... well, it's almost jet black!  What was that like for you?

That was the biggest shock of my life.  I have always known myself to be blonde and everybody else does, too.  I'm like that token blonde girl or whatever.  As soon as they made me black ... like, it wasn't even brown.  I could've maybe lived with brown because that's not that big of a shock.  It was like jet black, like midnight sky.  It looks really good and actually, I still have it.  I like it a lot.  It was a big shock.

You got a really bad rap early on for being this season's mean girl.  When you watch the episodes back, did you feel misunderstood at all or like you were being edited poorly?

No, not really.  I mean, that's just my competitive side.  I'm harsh and I don't really understand how all the other girls in the competition could give each other advice and help each other out.  Analeigh actually came to me and asked me for advice on something.  I told her I wasn't gonna give it to her.  I'm not gonna help out my competition, that's stupid.  That'd be like, in football, when teams tell the other team the plays they're gonna do.  I'm like, "That's dumb.  Why would you do that?"

Well, you were definitely outspoken when it came to Isis.  What was your main objection to having her in the competition?

Isisn't isn't a girl.  Flat out.  Just because you wanna be one doesn't make you one.  I can't knock on the NBA's door and say, "Hey, I wanna be a baller in your league.  I'm a girl but I think I'm a guy at heart but I'm gonna do it."  They wouldn't be like, "Okay, well that's cool, as long as you're a guy on the inside.  That works."  No, I mean, it's a girl's competition and it was just really weird to have a penis in the house.

Isis did say that in the house, there was a total lack of privacy, especially in the bathrooms with the showers and everything.

Yeah.

You went from being at the top last week to the bottom this week.  What do you think happened in that disaster photo challenge?

I freak myself out over studio shoots.  You know, studio shoots aren't actually on location.  You just have a set.  The first shoot with the voting and beauracracy one, I didn't do well on that one because it's a studio shoot.  This last one, the disaster one, was a studio shoot.  I had psyched myself out about studio shoots. I don't like them.  Obviously, as a model, you're going to get them most of the time but I just feel like it hinders my creativity 'cause you're not in the element that you're actually shooting in.  You have to fake it a whole bunch and it just messes with my head and I just psych myself out.  I mean, it' s so easy to watch the episode like I did last night and be like, "Oh my gosh, if I had done this, I would've totally nailed it.  I should've given more facial expression.  You know, why wasn't I doing that?"  When you're actually there, you have so many things going through your head.  You are there for hours, like 5-8 hours in hair and makeup just thinking about it, thinking about it.  Then, you actually do it. and the actual photo shoot doesn't last maybe 5 minutes.

What's in the future for you now, Clark?  Do you plan to keep modeling?

Yeah, I definitely plan to keep modeling.  I mean, I'm in school right now, at the Univerity of South Carolina, studying fashion but that's my backup plan.  I was just doing that until all this came out in public.  I plan on finishing out this semester and then seeing where we're gonna go after December, January, as far as contracts and stuff.  I definitely see myself signed in the future with hopefully, New York or Europe.

Alright, well thanks so much, Clark.  I really appreciate your time.

Absolutely, thank you so much.

Tyra news:

America's Next Top Model: 'Modelville' Kicks Off Today

Today on the Tyra Banks Show, a new show within a show was introduced, called Modelville.  Tyra is taking 5 former Top Model contestants and giving them a second chance to make it big in the fashion world.  The lucky models chosen are: Fatima Siad (Cycle 10), Dominque Reighard (Cycle 10), Lauren Utter (Cycle 10), Renee Alway (Cycle #8), and Bianca Golden (Cycle 9).  Tyra brought the 5 women on her show today to get updates on their lives since being on the show.  Fatima admitted that she has a hard time making ends meet, sometimes not even knowing where her next meal is coming from.  Dominique revealed that when she returned home from the show, she found out that her boyfriend had gotten another woman pregnant.  Each woman had a story that perhaps held her back from reaching her full potential but Tyra was about to deliver some amazing news to them that could forever change their lives (again).

Today, Tyra featured the work of Lisa Price, a hardworking mother who turned herself into an entrepreur with her business, Carol's Daughter. Lisa made her signature lotions, oils and creams right in her kitchen, selling them at a local flea market until 1999 when she opened her own boutique. Celebrities Jada Pinkett Smith and Mary J. Blige immediately took notice and got involved. Carol’s Daughter decided to team up with Tyra and Modelville to help another person make their dream a reality.

On today's show, Lisa surprised the models with some news: they are going to write, produce, create, and direct a 30 second commercial for one of the products from Carol’s Daughter. The winner will receive a $50,000 with Lisa’s company and become a spokesperson for the website.  Previous Top Model contestant Heather has already shot an ad for Carol’s Daughter and Lisa says that she’s not only looking for outer beauty but imperfection, which to her, is real beauty.

The models thought that they had a few more weeks before they were to move into their new apartment together but Tyra delivered one more surprise.  The girls were moving in today, which totally caught them off guard!  Over the next few weeks, we'll see how things play out from the drama in the house to the challenges along the way to crowning a winner of Modelville.

ANTM recap for tonight:

Top Model: "The Fiercee Awards"

In this weeks episode of Top Model, Tyra spends some time QT with the girls to help them develop their "signature" poses. Good thing they had some one-on-one training because each of the gals are asked to bring what they learned to their photo shoot where each girl has to pose as award show no-no's.

At the beginning of the episode, the girls are taken to a dressing room where Tyra personally delivers their Tyra Mail (and yes, she wore the teeny-tiny mail woman outfit). After the girls put on their black dress and heels, they enter the studio only to walk in on Tyra doing a shoot. She then explains to her models that she is going to work individually with them to focus on their signature pose (and after 10 previous cycles, Tyra did need to tell us, yet again, that hers is those smiling eyes she love to show).

First is Analeigh who tries to make her legs her strength, but it doesn't quite work out so much for her. McKey discovers her signature should be her long neck. Sam focuses on her hands. Lauren Brie goes in clueless and Trya suggests some surfer chick poses (which came out as awful as the idea is in the first place). Sheena tries to focus on being a diva, but Trya has her do some African dance poses. Joslyn goes for the wide poses, and Elina, the most closed off of them all, ends up trying to make some shapes of sorts. Marjorie decides to use her awkwardness to her own benefit by going for the Hunchback of Notre Dame style poses. Tyra is so impressed with the outcome that she announces Marjorie the winner of challenge where she and a pal of her choice (Analeigh) can pick out some free diamond blingage. The other gals are probably seething over that one.

For their photo shoot, the girls end up at the Grand Orpheum theater in LA where they each are assigned to act out an embarrassing moment that often go down at award shows.

Marjorie is the starlet who needs to pee and can't get out of her dress. Besides her wretched hat-wrap-whatever is on her head, she really hits it home with her contoured poses over the toilet. Sam is the girl who can't read her cue cards because of too much light. The judges were a bit torn over her shot, and it really doesn't do much for me either way. Elina, being the brick wall she is, of course is tasked to act out the award winner who balls uncontrollably. But despite Jay's success in getting Elina to break down and cry, the judges don't think it enough. I have to disagree. Though it may not have been over the top shot they requested, you still can feel emotion in that picture (and she looked amazing). Lauren Brie has to trip on the stage steps, but despite her always pretty face in pictures, she really needs to loosen up a little. McKey is the nominee the one who was sure she's going to win, but doesn't. The judges really liked it, and as per usual, her shot comes out amazing. Sheena is a starlet whose dress gets stepped on. Not bad, but I have to agree with the Nigel when he says her eyes make her look possessed. Joslyn has the woman who bumps into someone wearing the same dress. The judges praise her up and down for that one, but somehow, the conversation turns to how much she hates her nose and on come the waterworks. Then there's Analeigh, the one the girls consider the least of their competition worries. But on the contrary, Analeigh, who poses as a interviewer with attitude, comes out of no where and rocks it. Guess some people just do bitchy well.

And the winner of the challenge is none other than Marjorie. A double win. Now if that doesn't give the girl a confidence boost, I don't know what will. The bottom two are Lauren Brie and Sheena. Some of the judges find Lauren Brie has the face, but zero personality. And the opposite goes for Sheena who has the personality, but not so much the look. So who goes? Lauren Brie. They pretty much made that one obvious from the get go of the episode with the direction all the comments and editing were going. Did she deserve to go? I think so. The judges made a good point about her lack of personality. Honestly, every week I forget her name when I'm blogging until it's mentioned on the episode, but I have remembered Sheena's since day one. Besides, with her face, she'll be just fine in the industry.

CW sets 'Top Model' spinoff

'Operation Fabulous' to star Jay Manuel, J. Alexander

The CW is spinning off its hit reality series "America's Next Top Model."

The network has ordered a pilot for "Operation Fabulous," starring "Top Model" regulars Jay Manuel and J. Alexander and executive produced by "Top Model" chiefs Tyra Banks and Ken Mok.

On "Fabulous," "Jay and J," as Manuel and Alexander are called on "Top Model," will travel the country giving women makeovers. In various towns, the duo will select five participants and give them "Top Model"-style overhauls -- how to dress, wear their hair and makeup and bring out their confidence with the support of family, friends and their community.

The project, from Kristina Prods., Mok's 10x10 Entertainment and Banks' Bankable Prods., seeks to capitalize on a fan-favorite "Model" segment, when contestants are given head-to-toe high-fashion makeovers supervised by Alexander.

Manuel and Alexander have been with "Model" since the series' debut on UPN in 2003. Manuel is the creative director of show's photo shoots; Alexander is a runway expert who has been a judge for the past few seasons.

"Model" airs twice a year on the CW. Although ratings have ebbed in recent years, the reality show remains the network's highest-rated series.

"Fabulous" would mark the third fashion-themed reality series on CW from Banks and Mok, who also exec produce the network's series "Stylista," slated to debut Oct. 22, which features contestants vying for an editorial position at Elle magazine.

Thanks to tvguide for the recap I missed the show:

Top Model Episode Recap: "No You See Me, Now You Don't"

There is a great divide in the model abode where it's the European girls, Marjorie and Elina versus the rest of the house. Meanwhile, this week's Top Model challenge is the CoverGirl commercial, and Tyra reveals the upcoming model trip in true Tyra fashion.

This episode starts out with a smidge of drama. Marjorie and Elina try to tell the girls that they are the way they are because they are immigrants, but the gals can't seem to understand where they're coming from and just upset them further. The consensus among the others in the house is Elina and Marjorie keep playing the victim card. I have to say, I see what they're saying and get their point, but the upbringing can be used as an excuse for every situation. Just sayin'.

For their challenge, twins Ron and Richard teach the gals how to sell accessories by showing how to work the items versatility. Later, out comes James St. James in a green screen suit to show the girls what kind of "invisible modeling" they'd be doing for designer Nony Tochterman's collection. So, in other words, there's no model. Just cloths prancing around on screen, ala Ghost Dad (anyone remember what I'm talking about?). The winner of the challenge will be featured in a holiday fashion piece for Seventeen.

Elina has a panic attack being sealed up in the suit, but on stage does well. Marjorie's dress falls off showing off her invisible boobies, Samantha was "fighting" with her jacket, Joslyn used her belt for some stripper moves and Sheena couldn't stop twirling. And the winner is Elina and she picks Analeigh and Marjorie to join.

Back at the house, Sheena explodes on Elina and Marjorie for the whole European thing which somehow turns into Elina doesn't her Seventeen holiday shoot because she doesn't do holidays. Please…if models only modeled for things they believed in, it would be a much smaller industry. Oh, and Joslyn's sick.

At the CoverGirl commercial challenge, Whitney introduces the make-up they're promoting, and I can't help but wonder how many takes it took for her to bang that out so quick and perky. Jay also announces they'll have a prompter (boo, what fun is it if they aren't fumbling on the lines).

I think Samantha does really well, but the judges think she needs to annunciate a bit more. Elina is stiff as a board. McKey somehow manages to get lost in the tiny studio and tanks. Analeigh does a really amazing job, and I have to agree with Tyra that it's the best one we've seen in all of ANTM history. Obviously she wins for best commercial. Marjorie sounds petrified and like she's in some hot-to-trot race. The pressure must be getting to her since she breaks down when Jay tries to give critique. Sheena got to show off her sass and it worked for her. And after rallying from a vomit session, Joslyn struggles and can only pull off a fake laugh and wink.

So who's going to Amsterdam (as Tyra so gracious announces is their trip after forcing the girls to walk in clogs) and who's going home? It's down to the controlling, close-fisted Elina and the downward spiraling Joslyn. And when Tyra pulls the pick and announces who stays, she pulls the whoop-dee-whoop on us in the way she phrases it, but ultimately Joslyn is booted. That's just mean, Tyra

An interview with Joslyn:

Exclusive Interview: Joslyn of 'America's Next Top Model'

Usually on America's Next Top Model, when a contestant turns in a solid performance when sick, Tyra rewards them by keeping them in the competition.  That was not so much the case this week for Joslyn.  After coming down with a viral infection, and being rushed to the emergency room, she was determined to continue on in the competition.  The judges, however, did not feel that her Cover Girl commercial was strong and were also of the opinion that her performances have been weaker as the competition wore on.  She landed in the bottom two with Elina but ended up being the one sent home.  Today, Joslyn spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.

You were known as the girl this season who’s tried out so many times for the show. Tell me a little about your experiences over the years of trying to get on Top Model.

It has been very hard to tell you the truth. You know, I was a student in college the majority of the times that I was trying out. I started really trying out when I was in high school to tell you the truth. I’ve been trying out since cycle two. It was always pretty hard. I had to put my money together to travel and to drive to all of these locations. At the end of it, it was worth it. I mean, I really wanted to be on America’s Next Top Model. I felt like I had what it took to be America’s Next Top Model. I have a lot of faith and determination. My faith is what kept me going each and every time.

There was never a point where you were ready to give up? You always thought you would keep going until you got on the show?

Oh yes, I was going to keep going as long as I could because at the end, you know that little saying that hard work will be rewarded? Well, that’s the way I looked at it. If I just kept on trying and never gave up then eventually I would get the payoff for continuing to try. They saw my determination and they rewarded me for it. I had finally gotten my opportunity. It was a blessing.

Well, you started off the season so strong and then the judges felt like you kept sliding backwards. Do you know what happened or do you have any opinions about what may have affected your performance?

I probably don’t know what happened. The thing is that I wish I could see my photos because I really don’t feel like I did as bad as they made it out to be sometimes. Sometimes you question the photo picked. But, we can’t question it too much because we didn’t get the opportunity to see the rest of our photos. I had a down time. But especially with my commercial, I felt really good about it. I know I did good. I wasn’t down in the competition until I was in the final two the first time. That did kind of bring me down. The whole competition is very stressful especially when you really really really want it. I think that was also a factor: maybe I wanted it too much. It had its stressful moments but I don’t feel like I was doing as bad as they made it out to be.

In the last episode, you had gotten sick. What was going on with you and what was wrong?

I had gotten a viral illness. I was sick as a dog. I was also dehydrated because I was vomiting so much. They had to put me on an IV and they had to give me something for my nausea. They told me it was a viral illness. It was something I ate. My body was just rejecting what I had eaten or something. It was pretty tough. I didn’t want to let that be a factor. I didn’t want, like Tyra said, a pity party. I didn’t want them to show pity on me. That’s why I did as good as I possibly could do in the commercial. I think it was a little contradictory of Tyra because she mentioned that she couldn’t tell that I was sick at all and then she was saying that they weren’t going to show pity on me because I was sick.

I was going to say, in the past, Tyra has kept girls in the competition who preformed well while being sick. Were you a little surprised that she eliminated you?

That wasn’t the reason I was surprised that I was eliminated. I was surprised because I actually did good and the people who didn’t do good stayed in the competition. Of course, I had my down times, but so did everyone else. Everyone else had fears when they didn’t perform as well. I really feel like I was wrongfully judged.

Well I know that you’re a persistent and dedicated person so I assume you’re going to keep modeling from here on out?

Of course, of course. I may not be America’s Next Top Model, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not a top model. My goal right now, because I love setting goals, is to out beat whoever wins America’s Next Top Model to prove that I can be better and that some of the comments the judges made just weren’t right.

An interview with Joslyn:

America's Next Top Model Roundup: Joslyn Shocked She Went Home, Thinks Elina's a Hypocrite

Joslyn Pennywell, the latest eliminee from the Top Model house, left just in time to see the other girls off to the Netherlands. However bummed she might be about her untimely departure, Joslyn's attitude is nothing but upbeat. We learned of Joslyn's dedication early on, and while she wasn't categorized as being one of the most natural models in ANTM history, she managed to stand out with her personality and unique voice. Fancast got the chance to chat with Joslyn, where she talked about her future in modeling, the recent cat fight with Elina, and what she really thinks of Paulina Porizkova's nasty comments.

Can you tell us a little bit about how you got on the show?
It's always been a dream of mine to be on America's Next Top Model. I've auditioned around 33 times-- I've been auditioning since cycle 2. I was just determined to be on Top Model because I knew I could get my foot in the door with my modeling career and meet my role model, Tyra Banks. I think she saw my determination.

Why did they choose Elina to stay over you?
I'm not sure. I was very confident this elimination. I didn’t see myself going home at all. I don’t know what it was they saw in her that out powered me. I didn’t even get to watch the show last night, but I can tell you what their reason was. I know my personality stands out over hers.

Do you feel the fight on this past episode was blown out of proportion?
I do. The reason I got upset with Elina was because I told her the truth. I said she was young and going through a phase, and she got an attitude with me. Elina contradicts herself. She's an environmentalist yet she smokes cigarettes. She's against people having pets yet she had a cat. She says pets are slaves! So I'm like, why do you have a pet cat? She needs to practice what she preaches. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so that whole dispute was a little out of control.

Are you disappointed you didn’t get to go to Amsterdam?
I was so hurt. I was in complete shock. I was so excited about going overseas. But I enjoyed the experience, and although it was cut shorter than I wanted, I still feel blessed. I would have done great [at the go-sees in Amsterdam]. I make a connection with people. I walk with confidence and love to make people laugh. So I just wanted people to remember me for something, which is my personality.

You were pretty sick on this past episode… how sick did you actually get?
Well, I had a cold previously and I went to the emergency room after the commercial shoot. I had gotten dehydrated because I was vomiting so much. The doctor told me I had food poising. It weakened me pretty bad. After I got my medicine, I was ready to get back into it. I refused to let the sickness get me down. I thought I did pretty good!

Do you think you were trying to overcompensate for the sickness with that awful fake laugh in the Cover Girl commercial?
Well… I was trying to keep my personality in the commercial and not let the sickness bring me down. I did that fake laugh in the first take and of course they used it. I wasn’t feeling good so when I would start each take I would smile as much as I could. Maybe that’s where that fake giggle came in. It was just bad acting.

How did you feel when Paulina made the comment that you are more suited for runway than editorial?
Paulina makes no sense. That's her opinion-- but I feel like I'm both runway and print. She said runway models aren't gorgeous… I don’t think she has her definition together. You can't characterize people. It, to me, didn’t make sense. But I listened to what she has to say.

If you were to win a Fiercee Award, what would it be?
Best Personality or Goofiest. On the show, whenever I made a joke they always showed me laughing afterward, which just showed my goofiness. I feel liked a touched enough personality to show I'm a good person. I'm just going to continue to be myself!

A recap for last nights episode:

Top Model Episode Recap: "Planes, Trains and Slow Automobiles"

On this week's Top Model, the girls gear up for their trip to Amsterdam and upon arrival are tasked with the challenge of posing in the scandalous Red Light District. But after a shoot on the open sea another girl must go, and the question is: Will it be the larger-than-life personality, or her polar opposite.

The models board the plane for their new adventure in Amsterdam, and as soon as they get off, they are greeted by Daphne Deckers, host of Holland's Top Model. Just to get their blood pumping after an endless plane ride, Daphne sends the girls in pairs on a scavenger-esque type hunt to find their way to their new home. And the duo that makes it there first is none other than Elina and Sam. They may clash more often than not, but they pulled it together to win 50 extra frames in their next shoot.

Back at the house, Elina, Marjorie and Analeigh partake in a naked bath together (in a mighty tiny tub, mind you), and the other gals are fuming about the noise levels coming from this "va-jay-jay shaving party."

For their challenge, the girls arrive in the sex-ridden Red Light District where women put their bodies on display in windows to be bought. The girls are to take part in the new program Red Light Fashion Amsterdam where models wear designer cloths and display them live in the windows. In teams, the girls are to portray their designer's vision while working together, and while Marjorie did the best, it was McKey and Sam who worked best as a pair. And their prize is pretty unbelievable: Both girls get invited to return to International Fashion Week.

The girls rendezvous with Jay and learn that since Amsterdam is so popular is because of their shipping industry (funny I could have sworn it was for a specific plant), they will be posing as ladies of the ship while out on the open sea. McKey does some real out-of-the box poses, and the judges end up selecting her as the winner. All I have to say is girl's got legs. Sam gets a great critique for her pose, but the judges rip her a new one for her outfit at panel. Even Ms. J's pants couldn't help her (yep, he took them off on camera). Sheena tries to ease up on the hooch factor, but straddling a beam is probably not the best way to go about it. The judges found her poses slightly dull, but again, I found her face looked a lot better than some of the others. Elina ignores Jay's direction and but ultimately comes up with a pic that leaves the judges split. Honestly, between the hands and her expression, it downright scared me. Analeigh finally worked her skater skills and wowed the judges. Good for her...I think she's got something about her that's been overlooked for a while. Marjorie finally took constructive criticism without breaking down in tears and posed her signature, high fashion body contortion. I'm kinda bored with it now.

The bottom two are none other than foes Sheena and Elina. Sheena is bubbly and fun to be around, but lacking in the posing department. Elina, on the other hand, poses well, but has the brick wall thing going on. And the unlucky lady is Sheena.

An interview with Sheena:

America's Next Top Model Roundup: Sheena Defends Breast Implants, Says She's Not a Hoochie

Sheena Sakai is this season's first contestant to be kicked off while abroad on America's Next Top Model. Known for her gorgeous face and, ahem, flexible body, Sheena gained quite a reputation for her sex appeal. But just as the season was getting into the high fashion portion of the show, Sheena was sent packing. However, Sheena doesn't seem to mind getting kicked off at such an important phase in the competition. But why? Fancast chatted with Sheena about that, as well as the clashes with her housemates and her surgical enhancements.

How did you feel the last shoot went?
I felt like the concept was great except for the way they depicted how I was posing. I really just did what the photographer suggested. He suggested I straddle it and do different things but it came off like it was hoochie. I wasn't going to say no, even though Mr. Jay didn't like it. But overall as a model you have to execute what was needed of you and that’s what I felt like I was doing

What did you think of your picture? Did you think you were voted out more for Mr. Jay's comments?
I think that part of the reason I was going home was that it wasn’t a strong picture to the overall judging. I just think that the setting of which I was given and the idea… everything just didn’t work out at that particular time. I didn’t really like that picture myself, so I'm sure they could have found a better one.

Does that happen where you think the judges don’t choose the picture that was best?
You never know with Top Model. It's always very unpredictable. I believe in the competition there is a certain agenda to fulfill. And once your time is done, you're done. They're ready for you to go. And I think that at that time I made it as far as I could but they didn’t want to keep me around because my strengths aren't in high fashion and that was starting to get really heavy. So they decided to let the entertainer go and pursue something along my strengths.

Was the house always so divided?
It was divided from the get-go. It's just like high school, everyone gravitates toward their little clicks. You're always going to hang around who you're vibing with. As more girls got cut, you got to get to know the girls closer and that’s when we began clashing.

How were you trying to balance your sexiness in the photo shoots?
I came into the competition knowing I had a good chance in modeling but what I didn’t understand was that it wasn’t in high fashion modeling. So I was trying to bridge the gap and see if I had the potential, so I tested my abilities to see if I was able to do so. I know where my strengths lie-- and it's more toward glamour modeling. Doing the show I was just trying to maintain my survival in the competition and just trying to follow the instructions and hope for the best.

Did the hoochiness comments get old eventually?
Immediately my reaction was like, really? I was appalled. Then I took a closer look at my progress and I understand where it's coming from because a component of me does have a lot of sexual charisma, having to deal with the hoochines. The word isn't appropriate. To me it wasn’t a big deal because in the entertainment industry we've become so socially desensitized by sex. It's everywhere. And I think in terms of that demographic… that to me got to me because I knew who was watching me because of the audience.

When you were asked about having breast implants, why did you deny it at first?
In terms of the breasts, I don’t think it was appropriate to bring that to my attention out of nowhere. I think they did want to ask me about that and that was their opportunity to. I was just really surprised and I just reacted out of defense in terms of not wanting to put the wrong message out there. Off the bat, people are going to misconstrue and judge the fact that you have breast implants. You're on a model show where there are lots of young girls watching. That’s not the message that I wanted to put out there, and they didn’t want to give me the chance to really explain that. But at the same time, it's America. There's lots of people who have plastic surgery. It's not something that’s unfamiliar. It's not like I did surgery on my soul! I wasn’t offended and confessing made me feel a lot better. I thought "well, I've been called out on it and I might as well tell them how I feel about it and why I denied it." I didn’t think that was the appropriate setting to be confronted about something so small compared to the bigger issues out there.

How did you like Amsterdam?
I loved Amsterdam! I thought it was the most charming country I've ever been to. The food is amazing. Overall my experience there was one of a kind. It's not every day you get a free trip to Amsterdam!

What kind of modeling do you want to do?
I'm definitely a glamour model hands down and I kind of knew that once we got into it. And I thought since Tyra Banks did Sports Illustrated she picked me because I had a good chance in that career. Urban fashion, glamour modeling, and a few runway shows. But not high fashion.

Do you want a future in modeling?
In terms of modeling, not high fashion. But I definitely see myself in entertainment and television as a personality as an actress, a performer. I definitely like to entertain as a singer and dancer. My passion is to become an entertainer, to make people laugh, to make them smile. That's definitely what I aspire to.

Who would you like to see win?
I would love to see my girl McKey win. She's absolutely golden and she has a great shot and she'll have a really fulfilling career.

Recap from tvguide:

Top Model Episode Recap: "The Final Five"

On this week's Top Model, the five remaining ladies struggle with the always troublesome go-see challenge, and come time for their photo shoot, Tyra plays the part of photographer.

The girls are pumped to be a part of the top five - well everyone except neurotic Marjorie whose nerves are working overtime. And it doesn't help her much that their next challenge is go-sees where transportation is by boat.

All the girls get lost with trying to figure out the Dutch street names, but ultimately they all make it to their share of go-sees - except Marjorie who takes ten years and day to get to the first one. After two visits, she throws in the towel and heads back early. Everyone makes it back in time except McKey who gets disqualified for all her dillydallying despite her positive feedback. The verdict is Samantha is too commercial, Elina has too many tattoos, Analeigh has nice hair but tries too hard, and, surprise, surprise, Marjorie is too nervous. And the winner of the $18,000 worth of items for the designers is Analeigh. Good lord! Is that a sick prize or what?

For their photo shoot, Tyra pops out announcing she'll be directing this one. The shoot is a before-and-after where the girls have two poses - one sans make-up and glam, and one post-makeover. Samantha works her theatrical side for the after shot. The judges loved both, but I was partial to the casual shot. Marjorie stresses Tyra out with all her nervous jumping around for her before shot, but did better once the black lipstick was on. The judges feel she psyched herself out in the natural shot. I have to say it's amazing what a little make-up can do for that girl's confidence. Analeigh did well in her after shot, but the judges thought she lacked in her before shot. I have to agree with that one. Elina is stiff as board during both her before and after. Personally, I'm not a fan of either of her pictures. McKey killed it with her Clockwork Orange eye. I loved it. Samantha is the first one to be called largely in part to Nigel's obsession to her au natural shot. The bottom two consists of Elina and Marjorie. So who goes - the girl who holds on too tight or the girl who is a nervous wreck. And the lucky lady who stays is Marjorie.

An interview with Elina:

America's Next Top Model Roundup: Elina Says She "Definitely Could Have Let Go More"

Elina Ivanova used her stunning beauty and natural talent to propel her into the top five of America's Next Top Model. However, Elina was criticized week after week for being too cold, rigid, and not losing control in her photo shoots. The judges weren't the only ones she butted heads with—a few of her roommates spoke out on some of Elina's personal beliefs, drawing a line of strife right through the middle of the house. But after a couple weeks in Amsterdam, Elina was sent packing. Fancast caught up with Elina to get her side of things, including her control issues, her tattoos, and that fiery red hair.

You seemed pretty confident on this week's shoot. You can elaborate on why?

Going into every shoot I try to bring my best and work with whatever I have. So I was confident because I think it’s the best I could do. I was actually kind of surprised by the commentary from Jay and Tyra saying that it was still too stiff. It still puzzles me.

Do you think the judging was fair?

No, I don't. Because that constant control thing—I think I did deliver and I do have a lot of potential as a model. I think that control was kind of blown up and I didn’t think it got in the way of my modeling as much as they say it did.

How tiresome was the judges' comments about your control?

That was really frustrating. That was the first time I had really heard that. The first couple photo shoots I didn’t get that critique, then it was all I heard. So I didn’t really know what to do with that. I tried to get as much explanation as I could so I could improve somehow but it just seemed like everything I did I couldn’t really please the judges. I couldn’t figure out what they wanted from me exactly, so I did the best I could with that.

After watching the show, do you king of see where they're coming from?

Yeah-- I've definitely been working on it. Watching myself on the show, I definitely could have let go more. I just got a little too self-conscious and a little too afraid of looking silly and being open and not caring what anyone thinks and doing what I had to do.

You're close with Marjorie, What did you think of Marjorie's comments that you weren't trying things differently?

I don’t know what she meant by that. She didn’t say that to me in the house, so it was definitely a surprise. I'll talk to her and see what she meant by that, but I was definitely trying and you can't receive that strong of a response from everyone in panel and everyone else on panel and not try. So I definitely disagree with her and I'll try to improve as much as possible.

Did you realize when you got your tattoos that they would hinder your modeling career?

Actually I got them when I was taking a year or two off from modeling. I went to school and I didn't think I would go back into this career. But now I haven't had that many problems with them because you can cover them and they're easily air brushed. I think it was a little exaggerated on the show. A lot of models have tattoos.

What did you think of your time in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam was wonderful. My favorite thing was that it reminded me so much of home. It reminded me of Ukraine and it was a great way to connect with my heritage again because I haven't been back in a while. And Amsterdam is very free and it has a great atmosphere and I had a wonderful time there.

Have you gotten the chance to clear the air with any of your former housemates?

Nope. I haven't had that opportunity yet. But I would definitely like to see a lot of the girls and talk to them outside of the competition. That would be very different because cameras are off and attention is off and we can get to know each other in a different way. But I keep in touch with Clark.

You weren't pleased with your makeover in the beginning… did you keep it when you went home?

I actually took it out as soon as I got home. It wasn’t really because of the look—I actually got used to it. It was actually extremely painful to have the braiding because it was very tight. It actually left a couple marks on my scalp. My hair is brown now, too.

How did you get involved with the show?

I had just returned from school; I went to a technical school in Orlando. As soon as I returned to Seattle I just started applying for everything I could get my hands on. This was the first year I was eligible for America's Next Top Model. I just turned 18. I sent in the tape and got a response and it went from there.

What did you see in yourself that made you feel you could be America's Next Top Model?

I've had a passion for modeling since I was 13 years old. I figured this was a great opportunity to introduce myself to the industry and bring myself out of my comfort zone. I wanted to attempt this and I did and it was a lot of fun.

Do you think winning the show is overrated, or is it what you do with it after that really counts?

Just being on the show is amazing exposure and an experience itself. I think obviously winning is great and it's what every girl is there for. We're all competing for the same prize but I think that it really is what you do with it. You could be America's Next Top Model and you could do nothing with it. It really just depends on where you want to take it. I know girls who have been eliminated third or fourth and now they have amazing careers. You could have the best opportunity but unless you take it to the next level, then that's what really counts.

An episode recap from tvguide:

Top Model Episode Recap: "Good Times and Windmills"

It's down to the final four on this week's Top Model. Marjorie is struggling to deal with her self doubts and ends up a drunken mess in trying to embrace her new mentality. The girls learn how to use their expressiveness to sell a product, and after an extreme makeup shoot, another girl is sent packing.

The girls arrive and find Paulina trying to teach them to sell objects by using their expressions. Oddly enough, the only one who actually enjoyed the smell of the raw herrings is McKey...weird. Either way, Paulina loves her expressions. Analeigh iss very actress-like, Sam is a clown and Marjorie's feelings are "very accessible" (that's an understatement).

For their challenge, the girls are presented a storyboard for a 30 second commercial and have to act it out. Oh, and there are no words — it's all in their actions and expression. And to prove what a truly rough life these ladies are leading, the last scene involves planting a kiss on a superhot Calvin Klein supermodel. Sam is dubbed the hammy one, while Analeigh does really well. McKey is meh, and Marjorie is, well, Marjorie (but in this case, her shy nerves worked for the commercial because it's refreshing and believable). The winner of the $10,000 shopping spree at G-Star is Marjorie. Not sure if I agree on that one considering I was all about Analeigh, but either way, she split her ten grand evenly with Analeigh.

Back at the house, Marjorie has become a more of a ballsy kind of spastic when she invites the boys over that took them around their go-sees. They bring over many bottles of vino, and the only one of the girls who drinks is Marjorie who over does it. The next thing you know, she's a drunken mess who hooks up with a guy on a dare and ultimately ends up in the hot tub with him while fully clothed. Analeigh and the others try to look out for her sloppy pal by booting the boys. But of all the drunken madness, my favorite part is when McKey wrestles one of boys. And we're not talking cute flirty wrestling—we're talking headlocks and shoulder pinning. What goes with that girl?!

For their photo shoot, the girls get some extreme hair and makeup and their goal is to still shine through it all while in a very Dutch windmill setting. Analeigh is dynamic and did a lot of variety including a air shot. Marjorie was blah and the judges try to explain the opposite of nerves isn't boring (guess someone didn't have her Gatorade after a long night of boozin'). Sam's pain from her clogs shows in her shoot, and it isn't until Jay intervenes with a lecture that she pulls it together for her final few frames. McKey once again wowed everyone with her "genius" performance. The first name called is Annaleigh, followed my McKey in a close second leaving Marjorie and Sam in the bottom. Marjorie has pulled a 180 and become too boring, while Sam just "doesn't get" what it takes to portray "model" in person. So who goes home? Marjorie. Say whaaaat?

I'm loving this season. Not sure who will win this, maybe Annaleigh, but McKey is more modelesque. I have to say I wish Marjorie hadn't felt it necessary to drink to make herself feel more secure at panel. That is a dangerous path she's treading. I hope she learned something from the experience.  :'( I didn't enjoy watching it happen.

:jumpy: Hi ya TL great to see you

Oh absolutely I am kinda glad Marjorie left she needs to work out her personal issues her lack of self esteem it’s exhausting and I was frankly tired of it after 12 episodes.

I agree the remaining girls are great and I would be happy if any one of them win

An interview with Marjorie:

America's Next Top Model Roundup: Marjorie is the "Luckiest Person In The World"

Marjorie Conrad used her awkward grace and natural instincts to make it to the top four on America's Next Top Model. Constantly criticized for her nervous nature, Marjorie overcame the adversity by repeatedly taking some of the best photographs in the competition. When she was nearly eliminated, Marjorie decided to adopt a more confident persona, but unfortunately it was too little, too late and she was sent home from Amsterdam. The French native was involved in many clashes with her housemates throughout the season, most of whom insulted her shy and nervous behavior. Fancast caught up with Marjorie to get the whole scoop on her departure.

How did you feel winning the commercial shoot challenge on your last episode?
It was amazing for me. Winning that challenge really ended the cycle on a high note for me. I was really positive toward the end and I think that I would have lasted had I been in the bottom two earlier on. It manifested that fear that I had of possibly being sent home. Once it happens, then you're not so scared of it anymore. That really kind of clicked for me at that point. I was really happy to have my mentality recognized and win the challenge and share it with Analeigh. And the shopping spree was so fun. It was probably the most fun I've had during the cycle. It was really memorable and I'm glad I got to share that one-on-one time with Analeigh.

How was kissing Mark Vanderloo?
It was a kind of strange to be asked to do that because it was an uncomfortable set up. I didn’t really think much of it. It was kind of business like. I didn’t have time to pause and enjoy it. He just felt like a colleague of sorts. He's on a completely different level than I am.

Do you regret getting drunk and getting into the bathtub with your clothes on?
Honestly, it was completely blown out of proportion. I didn’t drink that much alcohol. Analeigh was concerned about how much I was drinking, but she didn’t need to be. I just took a bath fully clothed and just stayed kind of quiet. I kissed a guy, but it wasn’t anything outrageous. People think it was losing control, but it was pretty innocent, actually. As far as being a role model, I think I fit the mainstream idea of what a role model is. I tried as hard as I could and I gave it a fair shot. I’m the luckiest person in the world and have an opportunity to pursue whatever I want from this rare platform.

The other girls gave you a lot of flak for being too European. How did you handle that?
The girls' questions weren’t out of line. The moment you distinguish yourself, you are targeted. It puts you out there for criticism. Also, the show didn’t represent my argument well, not that being European gives me an excuse. It’s not about that. As soon as you are in a foreign place, you have two different perspectives, regardless of how long you’ve lived in one place over the other. You have lived in, learned from, and seen two different cultures, two types of people and two different ways to see the world. These perspectives make it less possible to be so sure of yourself and of your environment. It makes you consider other options and other possibilities. The other girls have only been exposed to one environment and couldn’t understand why I could understand them and see another side as well. They only had one perspective because it was something they had never been exposed to, so they couldn’t understand it. But they weren’t out of line. If anything, they were trying to understand.

What's your future in modeling? Would you consider modeling in France?
I would love to model there. Before the show I wasn’t excited to model, but now that I've been exposed to the possibility I really want to give it 100 percent. I've had the chance to work with experts and get a substantial number of photographs for my portfolio. I've won outlandish prizes, it's really a dream come true. I'm the luckiest person in the world that I can pursue that and I would definitely go back to my native country if the opportunity presented itself.

Do you consider yourself more like a print model or a runway model?
I think I need work on my runway walk but I don’t think it's impossible for me to be a runway model. I just need to better my posture. In terms of print, I really like photo shoots. I really love trying to come up with a concept and trying to actualize it. In a photograph, I think a model should be relatable and connect to the person looking at the photograph. To be able to convey an emotion through a still photo to me is really interesting. And also controlling my overall externality to produce a good impression. So I think it's kind of an equal interest on my end. Some people probably think I'm a better print model than a runway model.

What got you so nervous throughout the show?
What I got nervous about is the fact that I was treading through uncharted waters. I sent myself into a really high-pressure situation and I'm not someone who plays sports or who is competitive or had a game face on. I've never been trained in that kind of setting at all. So that’s what I got nervous about. But also I couldn’t really vent at any time. And when I could vent, it was on camera every time and it was always emphasized. I just looked like a train wreck, when really I was just trying to work it out for myself and work on my weaknesses. The reasons I get nervous are very relatable. The viewers just have to put themselves in my situation.

How did you think of your signature pose?
I thought that up mon my own. I naturally have a little slouch so it was easy for me to push it and try and make it photogenic in some way. I think it's good to work on your weaknesses and somehow form them into something positive. I really liked the photo shoot with Tyra Banks the best, especially the dramatic photograph because she really pushed me to come out of that niche I carved out for myself. And to really elongate my figure and stand up straight and work my posture and work my angles in a way that I hadn't really focused on yet.

A recap of tonights finale:

Tyra Crowns Her Next Top Model

They gave it their all in hopes of becoming Cycle 11's winner, but on Wednesday night's finale of America's Next Top Model, two finalists' dreams were crushed while another's came true.

For their final challenge, the three remaining models, Sam, Analeigh and McKey, were tasked with a CoverGirl commercial and photo shoot. Though they each had their own faults, it was fan favorite Analeigh who was booted for blanking on her lines and having a sugary-sweet face in her photo.

When it came time for the walk-off between McKey and Sam, both finalists strutted their stuff through the hot-pink runway of hills, steps and windy paths. Based on their solid performance at the runway show and all of their photos to date, it was a close call. But alas, Tyra & Co. could only pick one girl to take home the title. After much deliberation, McKey was announced America's Next Top Model.

An interview with ANTM winner McKey:

Top Model Winner Dishes on Her "Weirdo" Ways

The final runway was more of an obstacle course than a catwalk, but leggy McKey tackled it with style to become America's Next Top Model. TVGuide.com caught up with the Cycle 11 winner to find out everything from how she's learned to embrace her "weirdo" ways, what she thinks Tyra is really like and where she came up with the pseudo name McKey.

TVGuide.com: The finale runway was pretty intense. What was it like running up that hill in heels?
McKey: It was so scary! I was so nervous I was going to drop my train, slip on it and fall off the side creating some Top Model catastrophe. We did get some tips prior. Basically, you took a running start, picked up your skirt and hiked yourself up the hill with the momentum. I think it served as a good distraction where it became your task to get up that hill without falling as opposed to over focusing on who's going win.

TVGuide.com: What was one of the hardest things to deal with throughout the experience?
McKey: I had a really hard time letting the girls get to know me at first. I was guarded and very controlling as to what I showing to them. I guess I just shelled up because I was afraid they'd see what a weirdo I am and stay away from me! We started getting in sync with each other the second week, and the longer we were the there, the more comfortable everyone got with each other. That's why the fights started, because everyone was more comfortable fighting with each other [laughs]. There were little disagreements over everything from what color looks better to who the president shouldn't be.

TVGuide.com: Why do you say you're a weirdo?
McKey: I don't know — I ate dog food when I was little. [laughs] I just have odd, quirky things about me that I don't know from watching myself but from other people's reactions of what I do. It's kinda hilarious. I'll be making a face and they'll say "What are doing,"and I'm like "Impersonating a rabbit, why?" I'm just having a good time, lay off me guys!

TVGuide.com: Tyra's pretty quirky on the show as well.
McKey: Tyra was different than what I expected. She's really goofy and not afraid to act completely ridiculous. She's herself and she doesn't care. And this experience [taught me] to most definitely to be myself. Even if what I say or do seems quirky or odd, I am who I am — people will love me about that or hate me about that. Either way it can end up helping me.

TVGuide.com: Tyra had you change your name because there were competing Britneys on the show. How did you pick the name McKey?
McKey: McKey was what my mom was going to name me when I was born — well, McKenzie, actually. McKey is my way of shortening it. But my sister wanted Britney because she had a friend that had a sister named Britney and she wanted one too. I was like a Barbie doll on shelf, 'I want one too!' McKey was a penname of mine in high school — it was McKey Tay. I used to be very into writing in school, so anytime I was writing something funny or really out there, I'd use it as my alter alias. I'd picture myself in a black leather jacket and a little hood with those giant pink sun glasses sneaking around [laughs].

TVGuide.com: How did you get into modeling when you were younger?
McKey: I used to be a tomboy and play about every sport under the sun — and with that comes injury. I ended up having knee surgery that put me out for six months. I got pretty depressed, so I decided to try out for the Elite Model Look. I won regional, but not nationals and got a contract with Elite. But nothing every really took off so I went back to normal life. Eventually, I decided to give it just one last kick [with Top Model] so that when I'm a granny, I won't regret anything.

TVGuide.com: What are you hoping for with your upcoming career?
McKey: Ideally, what happens is they send me to Europe — hopefully Paris. I think that's where my look fits in the best, and I've been told I have very European features. And my mother did the sweetest thing and bought me a Papillion dog, which is what I really wanted to travel with me. She's going to come with me wherever I go so I can take a little bit of home with me. But, if I can work in New York, I'll go to New York — wherever I can get work I'll go!

An interview with ANTM runner-up Sam:

America's Next Top Model Roundup: Samantha Was "Nervous All The Time"

Samantha Potter came this close to the title of America's Next Top Model, but ended up as the first runner up behind McKey. Known for her bubbly personality and relentless energy, Sam worked her charm and her natural modeling instincts to make it all the way to the finals. Fancast talked to Samantha about her time on the show including her transformation into high fashion, what she learned from Tyra Banks, and what was up with that crazy runway show.

How did it feel to make it all the way to the top two?
Top two was crazy! It's amazing. To tell you the truth, I had no idea I was going to make it this far. Getting on the show was a shock to me, then I had these photo shoots and everything just happened so fast. I loved every part of it. I'm telling you, on panel days, I was so nervous every time. You never know what's going to happen, who's going home. It was always a surprise and I was always scared to death at panel. I didn't see myself going this far in the competition because all the other girls have a modeling background and I was just kind of thrown into the mix straight off of a volleyball court. But the fact that I made it this far and I have no modeling experience, it has really put me out there and I'm ready for my career now.

How did you like your chances going into the final panel?
I can't really say I thought I was going to win or McKey's was going to win because it all depends on what Tyra thinks and what the judges think. But McKey and I both really put ourselves out there and we really worked hard. McKey's golden. She's always shining and she did really well, and we both worked really hard and both put everything out there that we've got, and we both have no regrets. I think the judges probably had a pretty hard time trying to figure out who America's Next Top Model was going to be. And they made their decision!

What was going through your mind during the final runway show?
OK, first of all let me tell you something about this runway. Mr. Jay went way over his head! This thing had an 80 degree mountain on it that we had to run up. You literally had to run to get up it because if you didn’t run, you'd fall back and you'd die. It was like a magical candy land fantasy pulled straight from a fairytale book. It was so cool and it was very nerve-wracking. I used to run cross country for my high school but running up a hill in five inch heels is not the easiest thing to do. It was pretty stressful, pretty scary, pretty hectic. But it was fun.

Did you agree with Trya when she said you look like a commercial model in person, but in pictures you come off as editorial?
When I first got my makeover, I was kind of upset. But after I talked to the makeup artist and my hair stylist, they all said "When you get your hair cut like this you're going to be a high fashion model. You're not going to be commercial anymore. This is where you step up your game." And hearing Tyra tell me, "Sam, you're still commercial even with the short hair," I was like dangit! I got my hair cut off and I'm still commercial! So that was pretty frustrating. I guess I understand where she's coming from. I think my personality plays a big part in that because I'm kind of a bubbly and funny person. I think I'm pretty high fashion. I mean, my windmill shoot showed my versatility in modeling.

Did the hair help make you into a model?
To tell you the truth, I loved my long hair but as soon as I cut my hair off and I got to see myself in my very first picture, you could see a totally different person. I completely respect Tyra Banks for that. I think she made the right choice cutting off my hair. I hope it helps me in the future when agencies look at me and they like my look.

You said you never felt like the pretty girl before the show. What was that transformation like?
Well if you ask anyone who knows me—my family, or anyone at my high school—if you ask them who Samantha Potter is, they'll all tell you she's the athlete. No one would look at me and say she's a model, she's so pretty. After the show, having all this makeup thrown on my face and being in front of the camera and people telling you you're pretty, it's amazing. And I know I won't get this from any other experience. After the show when we looked at all the pictures again and we compared and I remembered everything that had happened. I realized I am a pretty girl, I am a model, I can do this! I'm hoping now agencies will look at me and see me and say "we want her" and they'll pick me up. Hopefully I'll
be successful with modeling, and acting's great too. I'd love to get in either of the industries and really just put myself out there.

What did you learn?
I learned a whole bunch of stuff. I learned how to dress. On the show I was always getting reamed for not dressing in the right style. I'm not a very fashionable person. Now I go shopping and I have all the right outfits. So that has really helped me become a better model. When I go out on the street people will recognize me as a model rather than like an everyday girl.

What did you think of the go-sees?
That was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done. Of course we had a time restraint, and those boats didn’t go very fast! We had a lot of downtime in the boat as we were trying to get from canal to canal. It was really stressful, but the designers are absolutely amazing. The people in this industry are so nice! They're so genuine and they care. Of course there are people who are going to judge you and critique you and categorize you but that’s part of the industry and I respect their opinions. Some of them thought I was too commercial and I completely understand that. It was just great to meet these different people and have the opportunity to try on their clothes and I had the greatest time. Even though it was so stressful, it was probably the most fun thing I've ever done.

What's your favorite part about being a model?
My favorite part is probably seeing yourself in a magazine. And knowing that when people see your pictures or your poses, it's almost inspirational knowing that people are looking at you and people are wanting to be you. And when people see my picture, it's such an honor to be recognized. And to have the power to influence people and inspire people. Even to have a part in someone else's life is really cool

An interview with 3rd place Analeigh:

Exclusive Interview: Analeigh Tipton of 'America's Next Top Model'

On last night's season finale of America's Next Top Model, the final three girls had one more Cover Girl commercial and print ad to shoot before making it to the final runway show.  Analeigh, whose commercial shoots have been one of her strengths, completely blanked in front of the camera.  When the judges were neither impressed with her best commercial take or her print ad, they eliminated her from the competition.  Today, Analeigh spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview, reflecting on her Top Model experience.

Well, I know the judges talked a lot about your figure skating background and how that relates to model. Did you think that that was going to be something that would help you in the competition?

I definitely went in thinking it certainly helped in situations but it was a big advantage and disadvantage at the same time. They didn’t always want me to use and it’s something that’s very difficult to incorporate into modeling because it doesn’t really translate off of the ice and there’s a certain ballet aspect but then to make it into a photo is very difficult to do. Mister Jay really helped me to finally find a way to take my figure skating not so literally and make it into a really good, beautiful picture.

Was there any part of the competition that you weren’t prepared for or was overwhelming to you in the beginning?

In the beginning, it was so fast. I think that’s what I wasn’t prepared for. Everything was just bam, bam, bam and there was no time to breathe. You don’t even have time to psyche yourself out and if you do, well, that’s kind of it because you don’t have time to get yourself together either. I wasn’t prepared for how fast things would be and honestly, how intense and nervewracking these panels would be. Your heart is in your throat the entire time and you can fall all you want, you’re not gonna relax.

There was quite a bit of drama in the house this season. How did you deal with the stress of it all?

I am not really in the middle of any drama, thankfully. I’m not a fighter. If there’s something going on that I really feel strongly about, I’ll certainly stand up but I pick my battles and I felt that nothing going on was worth battling for. I won’t fight just for the sake of fighting for television and none of that was going on. It’s a competition where you’re alone and you’re in it for you so I didn’t want to let any of that affect my performance and I didn’t.

Do you have a favorite photo that you took this season?

My favorite photo… during the competition it was my least favorite photo and that would be my natural shot that Tyra Banks shot. It’s just a fun picture, it’s very simple, and I had no makeup on and my hair was pulled back in a ponytail. I hated it when it came up in panel. I cringed and I was like, “Ah, that’s so terrible.” Now that I see the photo and I see it over and over again, it has become my favorite photo because it’s simple and it’s me. There’s no makeup and I actually feel like I can look at it say, “That’s me.” It’s so natural and I think I look beautiful. I feel like it’s kind of loving the way I am naturally. I think that’s a good thing.

I really thought you had it in the bag because you’re so good in front of the camera and you’re so good in commercials. When you watch last night’s episode back, do you cringe and wish you would’ve been able to pull it together in that last Cover Girl shoot?

It was definitely unexpected. I expected to completely rock that commercial and I had the lines down. I had them memorized. I can’t really say what happened. It was just the nerves that got to me and all the pressure and once I started thinking, “Oh my goodness, I’m blowing this,” I couldn’t pull myself out of it. That’s a lesson to learn and something you definitely grow from, which I have.

You really seem like a model who can work a lot after the show is over. Do you plan to keep pursuing this?

Certainly! Actually, I have a meeting with… I won’t say… but a really, really good agency later today. Everything’s happening pretty quickly and I’m going to pursue it with all my heart because I don’t want any regrets in not going after something that I love. So definitely I’ll be working a lot – that’s my plan.

ANTM Cycle 12 and 13 Update:

CW close to renewing "Top Model"

It looks like "America's Next Top Model" will be back on the catwalk next season.

The CW is close to renewing the Tyra Banks-hosted reality competition series for a 13th cycle to air next fall.

The news comes on the heels of the CW inking a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution to also air Banks' daytime talker, "The Tyra Banks Show," as an afternoon strip starting next fall.

The Cycle 11 finale of "Top Model" (4.8 million total viewers, 2.3 rating/7 share in adults 18-49), which aired Wednesday, was up 21% from the previous week to a season-high rating and also marked the show's largest audience since last year's finale. The show also ranked first in the 8-9 p.m. hour among adults 18-34 (2.8/9).

Cycle 12 will air in the spring.
